Client Spotlight: Ayon & Shilpita

Ayon and Shilpita were not looking to buy a home. That is, until their close friend, Sen, first shared the idea of buying a home instead of continuing to rent an apartment. Ayon and Shilpita often discussed needing more space for their young daughter, but they had not considered homeownership an option. Yet when they ran the numbers, they realized . . . why rent when you can own for the same amount or less? With interest rates at historic lows, they decided to take the plunge into homeownership and began the search for their new home.
In July 2020, Ayon and Shilpita's friend introduced them to his former agents, Rebecca and Rob, to discuss their home buying goals. Ayon recalls the first time he met Rebecca and Rob:
Ayon and Shilpita began their search in West Hartford because they were impressed with the great school system and the quality of life that West Hartford offered. They wanted a home in the Duffy School district, close to the highway and their friend’s home:
Ayon and Shilpita had criteria which made the search more difficult, one non-negotiable was that the home needed to be close their friend's house.
Together, Rebecca and Rob used their resources, creativity, and expertise to canvas the community: "Rebecca and Rob took up that challenge. They even distributed flyers locally just in case anybody wished to sell. Rob did several Facebook live videos asking if anyone was interested in selling their house. I never expected anyone to think about us so much and do this for us.” Ayon and Shilpita quickly realized that they were not the only ones looking for the same criteria in a home, as they missed out on multiple properties that sold immediately or lost offers to cash buyers. However, they did not let this discourage them. Ayon and Shilpita looked at nearly 50 homes with Rebecca and Rob during their search, determined to find the perfect home for their family. “Rebecca and Rob were very helpful in predicting the correct price of the house, what was wrong with any house, or if anything needed to be repaired.

After a year of house hunting in an unpredictable market, Ayon and Shilpita found their perfect home: “We offered something again on Rob's suggestion and after anxiously waiting for 2.5 days, Rob called us and gave us the good news. Within 1.5 months, everything was done and finally we became proud homeowners.”
To Ayon and Shilpita, their home is a safe haven and a place to build memories and enjoy their family and friends.
When asked what they most enjoy about their new home, Ayon said: “The independence of staying in a place and my little daughter running around and playing with plenty of space.”
Today, they continue to stay in contact with Rebecca and Rob, who have not only become their trusted realtors, but also their close friends. Ayon and Shilpita are thankful for their home buying journey, not only because they achieved their dream of being homeowners, but also because their built a lasting friendship with Rebecca and Rob.
