Rob Brown Managing Editor It was a successful McHappy Day Dawson Creek – with more than 5K raised for local sources and Ronald McDonald House. Dawson Creek had a very successful day, bringing in $5,455 with their fundraising efforts, and with the portion of the menu items sold, said Joanne Kitney with the chain. “We will be giving a cheque to the South Peace Child Development Centre for $2,727.50, and the same amount to the RMHC BC & Yukon.” Kim Hughes-Brinsky with SPCDC says their funding goes mainly to a pair of expense sources. “It is really when pediatric therapists have wish lists and we purchase items go for them, and then capital cost for our building.” She says an HVAC unit was installed on the SPCDC roof over the last week. “Proper ventilation is important these days and we put dollars towards capital costs as well.” Hughes-Brinsky said the organization is prepping for summer programming, and a joint event with the DCAG come end of May. editor@dcdn.ca
