Tarnegol Tips At Tarnegol, we know a thing or two about chicken.
Here are 4 ideas for a chicken dinner winner. 1 When cooking chicken, add a splash of red wine for added flavor. 2 Coat chicken with mayonnaise and broil in a Betty Crocker for 20 minutes. 3
Add water to pan of chicken and cover fully. Bake at 400° for 2 ½ hours. 4 Keep chicken warm until serving it. Refrain from cooling after cooking/baking in order to retain the chicken’s tenderness.

A STARK CONTRAST (Re: The Cornerstone of Chinuch, Issue 204) Thank you for the most fascinating read on the history of Monsey that you have been running over the past few weeks. It was the topic of discussion in our home. We poured over the pages to locate landmarks and streets on the amazing Old Monsey pictures. We discussed the railroad tracks and reveled in the numbers of bus routes circling Monsey every morning and evening, bli ayin hara. I read with interest the mechanchim’s take on frequent complaints parents have regarding tuition, transportation, etc. May Hashem bless our town with many more happy and growing years. I was floored when I read that our tzaddikim in Monsey from the previous generation would search out Yiddishe kinderlach and recruit them to their chedarim. Wow! Wow! Wow! Why, then, is it giving me so much sadness in my heart? To the point that I need to wipe my tears... That’s because I am thinking about the stark contrast to our current sad situation in Monsey. Yes, it was really inspiring to read about the holy gedolim of Monsey going out of their way to make sure that every Yiddishe neshamah got a Torah education, but what has happened to our town over the span of 60 years? Why are parents having such a Gehinnom getting a child into a yeshivah? We have to beg and plead and nag and use protekzia to get accepted. The rejection hurts so badly that a child or bachur has to be made of steel not to be affected by the pain. What happened? And please don’t give me the lame excuse that there is no place in the classroom, because that is not necessarily the whole truth. They made it work 60 years ago with very little and we can make it work today. No Yiddishe neshamah yearning to learn Torah should ever feel rejected by the system. This is a plea to all those who have any ability to ease the transition into mosdos for every single girl and boy wishing to learn Torah. What

PENALTY FOR PAYING PUNCTUALLY? (Re: When the Money Man Comes Knocking, Issue 204) Thank you for raising the important discussion about tuition collection! This is something that most parents struggle with. We are parents of a large family, ka”h, whose children attend three different mosdos here in town. One mosed has a set tuition fee for all parents. It is actually very reasonable (though not the cheapest in town). We gladly pay monthly, and in the past five years, we never, ever had to receive a reminder call, baruch Hashem. In fact, if we ever have extra money, we send in a donation. Another mosed we send to is a bit more “flexible” with their charges, but since the asking price is what is average here in town, we have no issue with that. A third mosed has a strange policy. They bill each family according to the maximum they think they can squeeze out. Paying your bill on time actually means (to them) that you can afford to pay more! Many families therefore keep a running balance as a bargaining chip against raised tuition fees the following year. I know of a family who dutifully paid tuition each month, got a hike of $50 per child, and then learned to play the game according to the rules. “I don’t have the money right now,” they say, “but I’ll throw you in $500 towards my balance…” They would love to pay on time, but they don’t, since a zero balance would mean a hike in their individual tuition. The reasoning that someone who can afford to pay more should pay more, since the child anyhow costs the mosed more than the tuition payments, is unfair and also comes back to bite the mosed. Tuition is tuition, and donations are donations. Parents who can afford to pay more should be urged to do so of their own free will — out of a sense of duty and hakaros hatov — and should be addressed the way any organization addresses any donor. Positivity always works best. I know schools who pressure families with certain last names to pay very high tuition and then tell them to “ask their relatives” for help if they can’t afford it. That is not Torah’dig. I would suggest that schools offer parents incentives for paying on time: a family has a zero balance by a set date, they get a discount the next month. It may be cheaper for the mosed in the long run as opposed to having to go through the entire registration-card ordeal and hiring staff to run after par-

ents. Even if this idea isn’t used, in general, parents must be able to trust the administration to not take advantage of them. There is no way to really know how much a person can afford. The parent body is in touch with each other. If they realize that tuition fees vary greatly, that undermines their trust in the administration. Bnei Torah and large-family discounts are appropriate and important, but should be given according to specific predetermined parameters, not according to whim. I realize there is much more to this issue, and most likely other parents will weigh in on the matter. For most large families, tuition will be a struggle no matter how you slice it. Let’s at least make it easier for parents to trust the mosed. Parents should not have to haggle, their children being a commodity on auction… Mosdos who foster trust and proper communication ultimately have a better response when it comes to fundraising, etc. Thank you for sharing my view. C.R.
LET’S HEAR ABOUT THE GIRLS (Re: Of Buses and Book Money, Issue 204) I greatly enjoyed the article that gave us another view of our children’s mosdos. It was refreshing to get the validation that all parents are struggling with the same issues, but most of all, it was nice to hear that our schools and their staff are really there for us and our children. As a mother of girls, I would like to hear more about some questions that have been bothering me (and I assume most parents out there). One of the issues is homework — why do teachers give them homework every single day? After spending so many hours in school, is the extra practice so beneficial? I understand that parents need to be involved, so wouldn’t a weekly report of the materials covered (like the boys have) be enough? Another subject to mention is extracurricular activities. I must say that my girls love play practice and other functions; it gives them a chance to shine and is a great outlet for everyone. My question is: Why does it have to happen after school hours, giving us all the headache of transporting them and having girls walk outside late at night? I would also appreciate to hear the school’s perspective on accepting new students, as I personally know a few parents who were struggling with getting their children accepted recently. I’m looking forward to continuing the conversation. L. Glick
MONEY DOESN’T GROW ON TREES (Re: Of Buses and Book Money, Issue 204) As a mother of several girls in school, I would like
74 / THE MONSEY VIEW / July 3, 2019 www.themonseyview.com / 845.600.8484
to add to the conversation with the mosdos. We all agree that book money is important. However, there are some areas where I think mosdos can cut down on unnecessary expenses. Is everything on the school supplies list really necessary? Why does a 4th grader need four looseleafs? And on top of that, two composition notebooks and one spiral? A school desk/cubby can’t even accommodate it all, so the kids end up leaving it in their briefcase and shlepping it back and forth to school daily. Why can’t they be taught to be satisfied with less and have one looseleaf for Yiddish and one for English, just as it was when we were kids? Why does the school supplies list include things that are never used? My bill for school supplies the past school year totaled a few hundred dollars! Of course, the girls are repeatedly told to use last year’s things, but they don’t last like they did years ago. In addition, some money collections can be cut down: G.O. money, extracurricular money, daily dollars for this and that… It’s time to face reality: Money doesn’t grow on a tree! M.M.
A BREAK FOR THE BOYS (Re: Issue 204: The Cheders and the Chinuch) I wanted to add a thought to the cheder and chinuch topic. Why do Monsey boys have 12 months of cheder with no change at all? True, they do have some summertime activities. But why must our kids leave the house the same time winter and summer, rain or shine? Don’t they need a break in routine just as much as the city people do? Can’t they start an hour later on summer mornings? How about parents — don’t you think we need a change and get that extra half hour of sleep in the morning? It’s been that way in the past. What has happened to change that? Please, for the benefit of all... give the kids a break!! M.F.

“It’s not fair!” pouted sevenyear-old Esty, crossing her arms for good measure. “Why does Chany get such a nice, big suitcase while I just get this little backpack? I have to shlep a backpack while Chany gets to roll her fancy suitcase on its wheels.” “Esty, it isn’t like that. Please let me explain,” implored her mother. “You and Chany are in the same camp, but you are in different bunks. Her bunk is going on an overnight trip, but your bunk is going hiking at Bear Mountain.” “So,” said Esty, who had never been hiking and clearly did not know what was involved. “Well, you’re going to be walking up a mountain on a path that could have rocks or sticks in the way. Sometimes you might have to jump across a stream of water. All you need with you is your lunch, your sunscreen, and your water bottles, so a little backpack is perfect because it will have everything you need and will be light. Also, if your bag had wheels, you wouldn’t be able to get it over the rocks or across the streams. In fact, a rolling suitcase would weigh you down, and you would be miserable!” Esty smiled, “Thank you, Mommy. Now I see why my backpack is better. But could you make it just a little heavier?” “Heavier? Why?” wondered her mother. “I was hoping you would add some nosh, too!” grinned Esty. It says in this week’s parsha, “And the earth opened up its
86 / THE MONSEY VIEW
mouth and swallowed them, their households, and all the people who were with Korach and all the wealth.” (Bamidbar 16:32) Rashi explains that the reason Korach decided to make a machlokes with Moshe was because he was jealous that Moshe, by the word of Hashem, had appointed Elizaphan the son of Uziel to be prince over the sons of Kehos. After Korach was swallowed by the earth, he disintegrated. The Gemara (Shabbos 152b) states: “Anyone who has envy in his heart during his lifetime, his bones rot in the grave, and anyone who does not have envy in his heart, his bones do not rot.” Bones do not ordinarily decompose, so the disintegration of someone’s bones is a sign that the person had been consumed by jealousy. The Maharal Diskin contrasts the disappearing bones of Korach with the enduring bones of Yosef. Yosef asked that his bones be taken up to Eretz Yisroel. This declaration was also a promise that his bones would not disintegrate, which in turn proved that, despite bring sold to slavery by his brothers, he harbored no jealousy or hate toward them. Jealousy is a natural feeling, and it can strike anyone from young to old and from lowly to great. We don’t see the big picture, so it is not always clear to us why the Rubens have a mansion, why the Epsteins have a pool, or why the Feldmans’ daughter made such an incredible shidduch. Like Esty, we see the glamorous “outside” of what another person has,
but we do not know the inner workings of why they have what they have — or why it would be not only counterproductive, but harmful, for us to have it. Rabbi Frand, shlit”a, explains that being jealous of another person’s circumstances is like being jealous of another person’s eyeglass prescription — obtaining the object of which you are jealous would bring you no benefit, and might even harm you. Rabbi Frand explains the connection between jealousy and the rotting of bones as follows. The deepest essence of a person are his bones (atzamos). A person who is jealous denies his essence because his jealousy is an indication that he thinks he needs someone else’s tools in life. If he would realize that everything he had been granted is exactly what he needs to do his job, he would not desire what another person has. Each one of us has been given a job to do in this world, and each one of us is the only one who can do that job. Every tool we need to complete that job is in the “toolbox” that Hashem has given us. Whether we marry and whom we marry, whether we have children and what children we have, whether we are rich or are poor — none of this is by accident. It is all part of our package, and, easy or not, it has been specifically calculated for each of us, tailor-made to bring out our best and enable us to accomplish our unique mission in this world. Who would want it any other way?

KJ Hatzolah Member Honored as ALS Provider of the Year by Orange County EMS After years of tension that had local paramedics doubting the professionalism of their chasidic counterparts, a Kiryas Joel resident was honored by the Orange County Emergency Medical Services. VIN News reported that Avrohom Yitzchak Flohr, who went out on 350 mutual aid calls to assist other local emergency crews this past year, was named ALS (Advanced Life Support) provider of the year on June 24 at the Orange County Emergency Medical Center in Goshen. A member of Hatzolah in both Kiryas Joel and Williamsburg, Flohr has been an active medic for more than 20 years. He noted that he and his counterparts worked hard to be accepted by other local first responders, who at first were wary of the tzitzis-clad, Yiddish-speaking paramedic corps. "It took time, but once they realized how professional we are, EMS crews, law enforcement and police heave a sigh of relief when they see us coming," said Flohr. The paramedic supervisor for Kiryas Joel noted that while the accolades may have been presented to him, they belonged to all of Kiryas Joel Hatzolah. “We are not a one-man-band, and while one person receives the award, it is not only one person that is honored," said Flohr. "It is a team effort. We work together, every single day, each morning and each night, and we go all out.” Flohr was selected for the honor by members of the Orange County Emergency Medical Services Council and is the first chasidic person to ever be recognized by the agency as ALS provider of the year. Kiryas Joel Emergency Medical Service was named EMS agency of the year
in 2015. Orange County Deputy EMS Commissioner Frank Cassanite had high words of praise for Flohr. “He is an excellent medic who does a great job for Orange County,” said Cassanite “Their agency provides mutual aid services, and he is one of the first persons to get on the radio.” KJ Hatzolah administrator and CEO Sruly Knobloch noted that Flohr has distinguished himself by always going above and beyond the call of duty. “He is very dedicated,” said Knobloch. “He can run out in the middle of the night at 3 a.m., go back to bed, and if another call comes in at 5 a.m., he will go out and do the same thing again.”
Wieder and Walsh Win Big on Primary Day While Election Day may be months away in November, Monsey residents headed to the polls last week to cast their ballots in a pair of pivotal Democratic primary elections. Incumbent legislator Aron Wieder handily beat challenger Vivian Street and Mirlene Millien in the race for the District 13 legislative seat, earning 56 percent of the 1,373 votes cast. In a video message released after the election results were tabulated, Wieder addressed members of the district, thanking those who voted for him and noting that he intended to be a strong advocate for everyone in District

13, which includes members of the Haitian, Hispanic and chasidic communities. “Tonight we are all celebrating victory,” said Wieder. “My job is to represent everyone in our diverse district.” The Monsey-area Jewish community also came out strongly in favor of retired judge Thomas Walsh in the race to elect the county’s next district attorney. Walsh received 51 percent of the vote, with nearly two-thirds of the vote coming from the Jewish community, where he trounced his nearest opponent Kenneth Zebrowski who netted just over 25 percent of the total votes cast.

CHAPTER TEN Recap: Concerned about her parents’ finances, Miri takes her sister Tzippy shopping and buys her a set of linen with her ma’aser money. In Bratislava, Shimon, one of the men working to rescue Jewish children from Christian orphanages and convents, tells the others what he learned from Stachov, his Russian contact: that there may be a Jewish child in the Lucius Jan orphanage. Bratislava 5708/1948
The young man who regularly came to care for the trees on Ourdwe Street, including the branches at number 8, caught the attention of the children in the orphanage. He was blond-haired, with sparkling eyes and a ready grin. He sang while he worked, and best of all, he would toss small lollipops to the children at a time when there wasn’t a candy to be found in the orphanage kitchen. Slowly the children began to approach him. “What’s your name?” one little boy dared ask. “Emil.” “Emil-Emil-Emil,” the children chanted as they happily sucked on their lollipops. “What are you singing?” another boy tried. “Nice songs,” the gardener replied. “And what’s your name?” “Max.” “Geza.” “Gustav.” “Molko.” Some of the boys only nodded bashfully, but didn’t say a word, especially the younger ones. The tree man would smile, wave at them, and move on to the next part of the street.
He continued coming by at least twice a week, and in time Theodore noticed him and began observing him from the window of the office. “I’m wondering about that man,” he said one day to Farash, who was seated behind him. “Since Lucio left, we have a problem with the evening hours. What do you say, should we try offering him a job?” Farash raised his head from the daily paper. “You can try,” he murmured. Theodore watched the man on the sidewalk for another long moment, and then stood up decisively from his desk and strode out of the office. He hurried down the path to the main entrance of the orphanage, and the children scurried out of the way for him. “Who are you, sir?” he asked the gardener as he opened the gate, offering the man a firm and authoritative handshake. “I’m Emil Bern.” “And your job is,,,?” “I deal with gardening and street cleaning for the municipality.” “I see you have a way with children.” Emil Bern shrugged and smiled. “I’m Theodore, from the Lucius Jan Children’s Orphanage. I’d like to offer you a job as our evening supervisor. It might not be the

easiest job, but it’s not a very difficult one either, and you seem to be the type who would really enjoy it. You would have to make sure that the children eat supper properly, get ready for bed, and go to sleep on time. And then you would need to supervise for the next two hours to make sure it stays quiet, until the nighttime supervisor arrives.” The municipal worker fingered his lower lip. “Could be,” he conceded. “I think I would like such a job, but I have to find out if I can move up my shift on the streets to earlier in the day. Now it sometimes stretches into late evening.” “So please, check and get back to me.”
help.” “So we’ll send you to Budapest, or Vienna, wherever you want, to help the smuggling operations there. Eventually, we’re all planning to leave anyway. It’s not stable here; the vodka smells more and more communist with every day that goes by.” The next day, Emil returned to the orphanage with a positive answer: Yes, he wanted the job. Theodore brought him into the large house and took him on a tour. The children cavorted around them and Emil winked at them, pointing to his full pockets and nodding with a broad smile, until Theodore sent them all off to their rooms.
“I LIKE THAT EMIL.” Edo, sitting on the windowsill, swung his legs and sucked hard on his lolly. “Do you?” Gustav nodded. “Hey, he didn’t give you a lolly?” the younger boy fretted. “Of course he did.” At that moment, Emil walked into the smoky office of the Jewish organization. “Nu?” Benny asked from the desk. “What nu? Nu-nu. Baruch Hashem! I didn’t think things would turn out quite this beautifully.” “Meaning?” “Well, I thought I would help out there with the gardening, and I would try to find reason to enter the actual courtyard and maybe even the building. I would befriend the boys a bit, and then slowly I would try to get out a bit of information from them. Instead, they handed me the opportunity on a silver platter! They offered me an evening job in the orphanage.” Benny’s head snapped up. “Wow, that’s wonderful!” he said. “Finally, I can see your face! Yes, so it is wonderful, but there’s only one problem: If I work there and become a familiar face, I won’t be able to remain in Pressburg after I get the boy out. They will look for me, and when they find me, the gardener’s certificate that Shimon’s Stachov arranged for me won’t
Yerushalayim
Somehow, after another decisive meeting at Rosenblit’s office, the mood improved significantly. They all agreed that the best thing would be to open an account from which the mechutanim would be able to withdraw funds as they needed. But because the whole process of opening the account and issuing checks and a credit card would take time, and time was a commodity they did not have right now, the lawyer made two bank transfers for sixty thousand shekels. One went to the Stockhammers’ account, and one went to the Potolskys’ account. “For the wedding expenses and the shopping, even before the apartment,” Rosenblit explained. “What I am asking, of course, is that you send me itemized receipts once a week. That is my client’s very reasonable request. The money that is not used will be returned to him. Tomorrow, go and open a bank account, order checks and a credit card, and we’ll be able to proceed.” After the Stockhammers and the Potolskys, along with Tzippy this time, left the office, and each of them called the bank and heard that the money had indeed been transferred, their smiles grew wider and less tense. Peretz’s parents, who were representing their son, returned to Petach Tikvah after announcing that they would take care

of finding a hall and making the wedding arrangements. The Potolskys returned to Bnei Brak on the 161 bus. As they were driving into Bnei Brak, Eliyahu got a call from the lawyer. “I’m sorry, Rabbi Potolsky,” he said. “I misunderstood the fax that Korman sent me. I was supposed to put more money into your account, because you have more expenses, naturally. I hope that you’re not angry with me. I put the extra money into your account now.” “I was actually surprised,” Elisheva said quietly, after Eliyahu had concluded the conversation with effusive thanks. “Even without the apartment, marrying off a daughter is much more expensive than marrying off a son. I was wondering about the identical sum.” Tzippy was quiet, completely overwhelmed. Eliyahu called the bank again. “One hundred and eighty thousand,” he uttered slowly, as his lips turned up in a dazed smile. “Three times as much as them. The question is if the mechutanim have to know that we got more, or if he played this out on purpose to prevent tension between us.” “We don’t have to run to tell them,” Elisheva said sagely, after she recovered from the news. “We can always say that he gave us more, later. We don’t have to report it right now.” Yes, it was clear that “paying for the wedding expenses” meant just that, but to clearly hear these astronomical sums being credited to their account was a whole different story. Eliyahu got off near the kollel, while Elisheva and Tzippy continued on toward the house. “One second,” Elisheva said, as they passed by the Hatzorfim window. “Maybe we should get off and buy a menorah for the chasan here? Look, the Chanukah sales are starting.” Tzippy certainly did not object. They got off the bus and walked into the store. “Are the presents during the engagement included in the deal?” Tzippy asked as they meandered among the glistening display cases. Her eyes were actually glued to the candlestick display. “Yes, that was clearly written in the agreement with Korman.” Elisheva followed her daughter’s gaze. “There are gorgeous candlesticks here,” she said. “Though I have no idea what size your mother-in-law wants to get for you… Look, I think we’ll buy a nice menorah, maybe for a bit more than we would have allowed ourselves otherwise, but we shouldn’t go overboard. You understand what I mean?” “Of course.” “On the other hand, if your mother-in-law chooses, let’s say, this style of candlesticks,” she pointed to a huge set, “then our menorah might look puny next to their gift, right?” Tzippy considered this. “I guess so.” “It could be embarrassing for us, and also, they

might be hurt or angry about it. Like, I could hear them saying that as long as we couldn’t afford it, they’d be fine with any gift we got them, but now,” Elisheva had trouble saying the words, “now that we are not paying for it, why are we still doing only the bare minimum? They might think, what is this, we don’t believe the chasan deserves more? You hear what I’m saying, Tzippy?” “Yes, Ima, I do, and I think we have to speak to them directly about this,” Tzippy said. “Right.” And although Elisheva did not really feel like doing it, she took her phone out. “Hey, I didn’t switch the ringer back on after the meeting. Nine missed calls! Two from home, and based on the time, they’re from before Riki and Devoiry came home; one from someone at the daycare center; five from Miri; and one from your mother-in-law. Let’s call her back first and see what she wants.” “Maybe she wants to ask us about candlesticks that she happens to be looking at right now in a store in Petach Tikvah!” Tzippy grinned at the thought. They walked out of the store without buying anything and called Tzippy’s mother-in-law back. No, Peretz’s mother did not want to ask them about silver; she actually wanted to talk about towels. She was in a linen store now, and they had some great sales going on, and would Tzippy let her buy some gorgeous towels for her on her own? And it was funny how they were all still automatically looking out for sales, wasn’t it? So, was Tzippy okay with it? Yes, Tzippy was fine with it. Oh, and there was also a really nice set of oven mitts and a beautiful trivet; could she buy those, too? Great. And after this store, she would be going home to get on the phone with some halls, and they’d see if they could find a good hall still available. If not somewhere close by, maybe they could try a hall in Yerushalayim or Modi’in Illit. What, silver? Oh, they should stick to the regular standards that everyone bought; no, she didn’t know what the price range was today; her youngest daughter had gotten married quite a few years ago, and the price of silver changed all the time. But she knew the sizes. And with gifts for the chasan, she also felt that they shouldn’t buy anything too fancy and eye-popping, because someone was giving all this to them as a gift, and it just wouldn’t be right to overdo things. “At least no one will be ashamed to exchange any of the gifts if they don’t like it,” she said, laughing, at the end of the conversation. “And the other side will just add some money, if necessary, and choose something else that they do like. We can afford to be generous now, can’t we?” Right, right. How pleasant it was to converse with the mechuteiniste without the issue of money hanging over their heads like a black cloud! Elisheva was so engrossed in the conversation that she did not even notice the call-waiting beep from Miri. To be continued...

THE BUTCHER’S BOY 108 / THE MONSEY VIEW / July 3, 2019 www.themonseyview.com / 845.600.8484
“BUTCHER’S BOY!” The words cut through Moshe’s heart. He had disappointed his father, yet again. But this time, Father’s pain was evident in the way he spoke. It really wasn’t like him; it wasn’t the nature of such a refined man to criticize his child in this manner — especially considering that Moshe was a yasom, bereft of his mother. But try as he might, Father just couldn’t understand, and his frustration had finally reached its peak. Father devoted his every moment, his every breath, to learning, and expected Moshe to do the same. For him, there was no life aside from
Torah; from drinking its riches, adorning oneself in its pearls. But the truth was that Moshe was… different. He wasn’t like Father. And this caused Father tremendous pain. To be fair, Father had invested much effort into helping Moshe grow into a talmid worthy of praise, but Moshe didn’t progress. Despite the stories of tzaddikim and talmidei chachamim, despite the detailed pictures Father drew to help Moshe understand, despite the praises of those who learn Torah, Moshe’s learning remained stagnate. And the long-nurtured dreams Father had for his child seemed to be crashing down around him, for every time Moshe went to learn, something would distract him. But really, was it his fault that the warble of birds and the whispers of wind spoke to him, calling his name, beckoning him to venture outside? Was he really to blame for heeding their call? Maybe he really was just a butcher’s boy. Maybe genes had their way of tying one down… Moshe had lost his mother when he was born, and had never known her loving touch. But he knew the stories of her piety, and of how Father had chosen to marry her. It was through the dreams that came to him, in which a voice instructed Father to seek out the home of a butcher in another town, that he’d found his wife. She was the daughter of a simple meat merchant, living among simple people. At first, the family had refused Father’s offer of marriage, insisting that they’d never sought a spouse for their children from among men of learning — and that men of learning had never considered their family either. Eventually, though, the family gave their permission, and Moshe’s mother and father had married. She’d been a great wife, devoted and capable. It was a tragic loss for Father when she passed away; for the community as well. But it was little Moshe who was the true rachmanus. He would never know his mother. But he knew her past, and when Father called him a butcher’s boy, Moshe felt shame spread through his young body. He turned and ran from the house. Moshe wandered the streets, lacking desire to return home to the pressures of being someone he couldn’t be. When night fell, Moshe found a small shul and settled in for a fitful sleep. His tears were his pillow, his shame a blanket around him.
Sobbing, Moshe spoke to his Creator, pouring out his pain, turning it over into Hands far more capable than his own. He cried and cried, until finally, he succumbed to sleep. When he awoke the next morning, Moshe felt… different. As if a change had come over him. He quickly washed, davened and prepared himself for a day of learning. Moshe hungrily opened a sefer and sang the holy words out loud. It was as if a switch had been flipped! All of the distractions suddenly vanished and there was nothing before him aside from the black and white of the aleph-beis that formed sweet words of Torah. Moshe drank in the learning as if he were a man in a desert, parched from the blistering sun. When he finally closed the sefer, Moshe had made up his mind. He would do as his father had done; he’d travel to the yeshivah in Alisona, where his father had learned. When he arrived in Alisona, he only had to mention the name of his illustrious father to be accepted there. He settled in well, and under the careful tutelage of Rabbi Yosef Levi ibn Migash, the Rosh Yeshivah, Moshe blossomed. Rabbi Yosef was careful with his praise, always tempering his positivity with an instruction to look further into the text, to seek deeper answers to any questions that Moshe had. He opened a new world for the boy, teaching him that thirst is not enough; effort is equally important. On any given topic, sefer after sefer would be consulted, until finally Moshe was satisfied that he’d reached a correct conclusion. Rabbi Yosef saw the potential in Moshe and proclaimed, “This child will become great, and all Jews throughout the world, from the East to the West, will follow his interpretations.” Eventually, Moshe knew it was time to head home. When he arrived there, he went to the beis midrash to daven, and people there recognized him as being a leading pupil from the yeshivah in Alisona. They encouraged him to say a few words, and he acquiesced. Moshe ascended the bimah and began to speak, quoting scholars from the present and past, referencing sources both revealed and nistar. When he finished, a man came to him. “Are you my Moshe?” Rabbi Maimon, dayan of Cordoba, questioned disbelievingly as he approached the learned young man before him. “Have you come home, my son?” The two embraced with tears flowing freely, and went home to learn together — and to make history. WITH THE PROPER NURTURING, the grandson of a simple butcher became one of the greatest contributors to Yiddishkeit. As it is said of Moshe ben Maimon, the Rambam: From Moshe to Moshe, there has never been another like Moshe.

Salmon Spaghetti Salad

Salmon Spaghetti Salad The marinade doubles as dressing, so there’s only one set of ingredients to measure and one bowl to wash — to get you out of the kitchen faster. Serves 4
SPAGHETTI 8 oz. spaghetti*, cooked and drained
SALMON 4 slices skinless salmon fillet (1¼–1½ lb.) or any fresh or frozen fish, cubed 1 onion, diced
2 tomatoes, quartered and sliced 8 button mushrooms, peeled and sliced
MARINADE/DRESSING 2 T. soy sauce
2 tsp. smoked paprika
4 T. oil
2 T. lemon juice
½ tsp. black pepper
½ tsp. salt
*I use a combination of angel hair and whole-wheat spaghetti. The whole wheat gives the salad a chewier, more substantial texture.
DIRECTIONS 1. Combine marinade ingredients in a bowl. Pour about ⅓ of this mixture into quart-size Ziploc bag. Place fish cubes into bag, and allow to marinate for at least 15 minutes. 2. Heat large skillet/frying pan. Add diced onion and cook for 5 minutes on high. Add fish cubes to pan and cook for 3 minutes. Carefully flip fish cubes over and cook for 2–3 minutes. Cover until ready to serve (to keep from drying out). 3. Add cooked spaghetti to the remaining marinade in bowl and mix well. 4. To serve, layer spaghetti, tomatoes and mushrooms. Top with fish cubes and sautéed onions.

Quinoa Salad I love serving this salad. It looks so gourmet, yet takes almost no time to prepare. And since it gets plated individually, it can be customized to suit each family member’s taste. Serves 4
This can be prepared on an outdoor grill, too, when you want to barbeque without stuffing up on buns. Serves 4 Note: Currants are a smaller, naturally sweet alternative to raisins or craisins (available with CRC hechsher at Rockland Kosher).
INGREDIENTS 1 cup quinoa 2 sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed 1 container alfalfa sprouts (or lettuce, if you prefer) 1 cup craisins
DRESSING (OR USE READY-MADE) ¾ cup lite mayonnaise ¾ cup orange juice 1 tsp. ground ginger
1 cup slivered almonds
1 tsp. onion powder
Oil, for spraying
1 T. sugar
Salt
1 tsp. salt ½ tsp. black pepper
DIRECTIONS 1. Combine dressing ingredients in Ziploc bag. Add chicken to bag and allow to marinate for at least ½ hour. 2. Meanwhile, peel and cube sweet potatoes. Spread cubes onto paper-lined baking sheet, spray with oil, and sprinkle lightly with salt. Bake at 400° for 30–45 minutes, until soft and starting to brown. 3. Heat a griddle or frying pan until very hot. Add chicken to pan and cook until browned. Flip over and cook until done. 4. To serve, layer lettuce, sweet potatoes, oranges, currants and almonds. Top with chicken, cut into strips. Drizzle with dressing.

When I was a child, summer time meant trip time. It meant packing a car full of kids, blankets, clothing, books — and tons of nosh — and settling ourselves in for endless days of travel. And unlike many families who use their car as a tool to reach some major tourist trap, we rarely visited any popular sites. For us, the destination was in the trip. And while I have to admit that spending countless hours watching the road disappear beneath our tires wasn’t exactly my idea of a good time, I’ll also admit to nowadays being truly thankful for those road trips that enabled me to see the vast expanse of America’s beauty. To date, I’ve visited every one of the 48 contiguous states. Let me share with you some of my favorite places. THE MONSEY VIEW / 119
WASHINGTON Let’s begin on the western side of America and then work our way east. Washington is hands-down my favorite state in America. (Sorry, New York!) What should I say? It just has natural charm. As a huge fan of pine tree–covered mountains, cool breezes and lush greenery, Washington satisfies in a way no other place in the States can. The temperature in Seattle — the largest city in the state and home to a beautiful Orthodox community — is moderate year round, though rain is a steady part of life.
CAPE DISAPPOINTMENT My only encounter with Cape Disappointment made a lasting impression on me. I was about 14 years old and we had arrived at the cape when the air was calm and still. I settled myself on a fallen log and gazed at the placid waves that quietly danced before a backdrop of craggy mountain cliffs. Suddenly, the waters turned choppy and the skies gray. The gentle slap-slap of the waves gave way to fearful crashing of water on shore. A storm was rolling in, and its power was awe-inspiring. At that moment There’s nothing disappointing about Cape Disappointment! I developed a deep respect for the ocean, truly understanding why those who cross one are required to say Birchas Hagomel. And, I reasoned, if the water is so powerful, how much more so Hashem, Who created it? Awe-inducing, indeed.
SNOQUALMIE FALLS Words can barely do justice to the beauty of Snoqualmie Falls. The hike that leads to the bottom of the falls is paved and easily doable by most people. At one part of the trail, though, there is a long boardwalk with many steps leading to the bottom of the falls, but if you can handle stairs and will be in the Seattle/Bellevue area, this is one hike you’ll want to take. Temperatures remain cool year round.

ASTORIA-MEGLER BRIDGE
Warning: Not for those who fear bridges, bridges over water, or heights!
Crossing a bridge is a typical part of travel — but crossing the Astoria-Megler Bridge that connects Megler, Washington, with Astoria, Oregon, is the stuff of memories. At more than 4 miles long, this bridge ranks second on the list of world’s longest truss bridges. Not only is it long, it’s also high… And it crosses over water!

THE HIGH DESERT, CENTRAL OREGON The high desert is a unique place where the scent of juniper fills the air, tumbleweed rolls across the road, and dusty red earth takes the place of the black dirt we’re used to here in Monsey. In the distance, the snow-capped Three Sisters mountain range creates a beautiful panorama.

WYOMING
JACKSON HOLE AND THE GRAND TETONS Jackson Hole, Wyoming, lies in a valley between two mountain ranges, the Grand Tetons being the most well known. This idyllic valley features green flatlands bordered by beautiful foliage and a backdrop of snow-capped peaks. Iconic to Jackson Hole are the four elk antler arches that welcome visitors into the town square. Each arch features roughly 2,000 antlers, which are collected from the wild after elk shed them every year.

Driving through the winding roads in the Black Hills, you’d be forgiven for feeling your vehicle is terribly out of place. This land, forcibly seized from the Native Americans, was historically used as winter camping grounds for the Lakota tribe who followed the yearly migration of the bison. Bison provided both food and fur and was a mainstay of their sustenance. Today, roughly 1,000 bison live in the Custer Wildlife Reserve in the Black Hills. Spectators are invited to be part of a yearly roundup in which most of the herd is corralled to be cared for and counted before they are released to the wild once again. Some of the herd is also sold each year, in order to maintain the balance of the reserve’s ecosystem.

KANSAS
GREAT PLAINS I’ll admit it: Kansas is not one of my favorite places, but it’s made its mark on my memory because of its unique topography. The Great Plains are part of this state, and with its uber-flat land, the winds that whip through it can be mindblowing. I recall stopping at a gas station as a child and feeling the car powerfully rocking from side to side.
MINNESOTA The weather of Minnesota is extreme. It’s either freezing cold and covered in glorious deep, deep snow — or it’s hot and humid, with its unique geological factors able to breed the perfect storm. Tornadoes are a part of life, and so are magical lightning storms! I recall being seven or eight and sitting in front of a huge picture window overlooking flat farm country and watching multiple bolts of lightning dash across the night sky in a spectacular display of electric dance. What made this most fascinating was that there wasn’t even rain! Just lightning bolt after lighting bolt.

American citizenship is not something I take for granted. That is all the more so for those immigrants who must work hard to achieve that status. A handful of them graciously share their journeys.
Americanized for Mommy Fifty years ago, my Torontonian coworker, Shana*, filed for a green card when she was engaged to her American husband-to-be at the age of 17. The green card allowed her to get a job in the States and required her to pay taxes. She wasn’t naturalized until 1999. “I only became naturalized because my father and sister were no longer alive, and my mother, an elderly Holocaust survivor, was living alone in Canada,” Shana shares. “My siblings and I were all living in America at the time, and as the oldest daughter, I knew I needed to bring my mother here. I knew I could always have dual citizenship if I kept up my Canadian citizenship, which I did, and I have to say that I have so much hakaras hatov to this country.” Shana doesn’t recall the twostage process of becoming an American citizen being difficult. She had to study and learn certain things about the government and then sat for a test. At some point, she was notified that she’d passed the test and was then called back to be sworn in as an American citizen.
“I was in a room of probably 100 people,” she remembers. “I’d expected a private meeting with just myself and the judge — my own personal entry to the United States of America, but when I walked into that room and looked around, I saw a bunch of people of all different nationalities sitting close to one another. There were people in every type of ethnic clothing. I saw every color skin; young people and old.” And all of us are looking to become American citizens, Shana thought. The room was quiet; there was no cacophony of loud noises. Everyone clearly had respect for what was about to happen. “I knew what U.S. citizenship meant to me — I could now be the one who could bring my mother into the United States,” Shana continues. “At some point, everybody in the room stood up, and we said something to affirm our citizenship. I felt myself tearing up. Then we all walked out as American citizens.” The new citizens were given an official-looking document that they were supposed to keep in a

safe place. Shana was then able to put in motion her mother’s green card process. Her husband had enabled her residence in the U.S., and now she would enable her mother’s. “I am so proud to be an American citizen and grateful that I had the opportunity to bring my mother into the States.”
PQ Prompts Move to U.S. Hindy was born in Eretz Yisroel and raised in Montreal, Canada. After her parents moved to Montreal, they became Canadian citizens, and she had dual Israeli-Canadian citizenship. Life was good there until there was major upheaval — terrorism, kidnappings and murders — that led to the radical Parti Québécois (PQ) separatist party winning power for the first time in the November 1976 landslide election. The PQ passed bills that made French the official language, among other restrictions. This led to an exodus of anglophone (English-speaking) Montrealers. Although a lot of people moved to Toronto, Hindy's parents decided to move to California, and in 1977, they did. “I liked living in Montreal, but when the situation changed, my family had no choice but to leave,” Hindy says. “When we got to California, it was a huge culture shock for me.

Things were done very differently in America, and I wasn’t willing to give up my Canadian citizenship to become American. I didn’t know until some years later that you can keep both — or, in my case, keep all three. We became permanent U.S. residents a few years later and got our green cards so we could live here legally.” But over the years, Hindy realized that the situation wasn’t ideal. In her career, she found there were some jobs that required citizenship. Then there was the inconvenience of applying for a Canadian passport when traveling out of the country. Her husband and kids were all American citizens, and in 2006, Hindy decided to go through the process of applying for citizenship and not put it off any longer. She filled out many forms, went to get fingerprinted and then waited — it took approximately six months’ time — to get an appointment. “When I finally got an appointment,” Hindy remembers, “I was told that the problem was that my fingers were ‘unfingerprintable’; they could not register them. I had to go back several times to get fingerprinted, but finally, they gave up and waived that requirement for me. My son kidded with me, saying that I could become the perfect criminal since I have no fingerprints. “I was given a test date and a basic booklet to study the history of the United States, the Bill of
Rights, and the 13 Colonies, among other things. I studied a lot, thinking it was really important, as if it were a college final. During the test, they asked me who the president was; they asked me to write a sentence in English; and then they asked me to read a sentence in English, since a lot of people applying are not English-speaking. But they didn’t ask me anything about U.S. history. Then they said, ‘Okay, you’re done,’ and I said, ‘That’s it?’ I was so let down because I was so well prepared. I wanted to answer more questions!” Reflecting on her naturalization and the process it took to get there, Hindy says, “Citizenship is great, but the main downside is jury duty. It’s also kind of funny that Canadians are treated the same way as non-English speakers. I think there should be a different process for Canadians.”

“From the end of August until December of 2018, the lawyer I was working with gave me a list of things to do. I had to go to a special immigration doctor to get tests and three or four vaccines I didn’t have. I was so surprised to find out that the doctor himself was not even an American citizen, and that they were about to immunize me against chicken pox, which I’d already had! I also had to get bloodwork done at the hospital. Finally, I submitted all of my paperwork in December. “In January,” Ita says, “I got a letter with the information of where to get fingerprinted and how to start the process with the government. I did my part, and then it was up to the government to do its part. After this, I would be able to get my working and travel visa that basically would give me a social security number that could be used only for employment; it also would allow me to leave the country. This required three separate applications: one for permanent residency and two others for a combination working-travel visa.” The entire time while applying for a green card, Ita was not allowed to work. If not for her husband’s working and the generosity of their parents, they wouldn’t have had income. “I don’t know how people in my situation do it without parental help,” Ita says. She finally got an interview appointment date in the spring, in Maryland. Since she’d moved to New Jersey, she had to change her address in the government system, and then wait for another appointment. “I never celebrated so sincerely as when I received my working-travel visa in the mail. I could now apply for jobs and work in the States! This was so exciting for me.” Next, Ita and her husband had to go for an interview and bring everything with them, such as pictures, proof and receipts of the same bank account. In May, they got a letter saying that they were missing one piece of information, the long-form birth certificate. It was due by June 17, or the entire process they had just gone through would be denied! “This is the last step of the process,” Ita says, “and I await my green card’s arrival in the mail any day. “For the time being, my entire life is kept in a large accordion file folder, filled with the needed documentation for my citizenship, which I hope to apply for next.”

The New York Harbor, now a history-rich tourist attraction, was once — before the days of airports and official borders and caravans of illegal immigrants — the entry point to the United States. Newly arrived immigrants would crane their necks at Lady Liberty, entranced, as she staunchly proclaimed, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free...” And they sailed toward Ellis Island to be questioned, examined, and hopefully, allowed into the country. Tiny as they are in size, so much has happened on these islands over the years...

LIBERTY ISLAND
By the time it was selected to be the home of the Statue of Liberty, this small parcel of land measuring less than 15 acres, then known as Bedloe’s Island, had already had multiple functions. It had been a quarantine station for those sick with contagious diseases, a vacation residence for a wealthy family, and a stronghold for the U.S. military, when star-shaped Fort Wood was built on it to protect the New York Harbor in the War of 1812. In 1865, Edouard de Laboulaye, a French political thinker and activist, proposed that a statue representing liberty be built for the United States for their centennial of independence, in 1876, as an expression of their friendship with France. Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, the French sculptor who both influenced and designed the Statue of Liberty, took a trip to the United States in 1871 to seek out an ideal home for the statue. He set his sights on Bedloe’s Island; with its visibility to every ship entering the New York Harbor, which he viewed as the “gateway to America,” as well as the fact that the land was federally owned and thus “land common to all the states,” he deemed it the perfect site for the statue. The construction of the Statue of Liberty was
a joint project between France and the United States. France would build and design the statue; very instrumental in the engineering was Alexandre Gustave Eiffel of Eiffel Tower fame. The United States was to complete the pedestal on the Island that was to hold the statue. Construction began in Paris in 1876. The arm and torch were completed still that year. The head and shoulders were completed in 1878. Between 1881 and 1884, the entire statue was finished and assembled in Paris. Meanwhile, in 1884, construction of the pedestal began in the United States, right upon the star-shaped Fort Wood. On July 4, 1884, the complete statue was presented to Levi P. Morton, the U.S. minister to France, in Paris. It was than disassembled into 350 separate pieces and shipped to the United States aboard the French navy ship, Isere. The statue arrived, in pieces, in the New York Harbor on June 17, 1885, and was greeted by hundreds of boats and some 200,000 people who lined the docks. Unfortunately, the pedes-

tal, due to the difficulty the fundraising efforts had been met with in the U.S., was not yet complete, and the statue pieces lay in crates for 11 months waiting to be reassembled. Immediately after the completion of the pedestal, in April of 1886, the reassembly of the statue began. The unveiling of the Statue of Liberty was held on October 28, 1886, roughly a decade after the centennial of U.S. independence. President Grover Cleveland presided over the event. In the morning, a parade was held in New York City, with the estimated number of participants ranging from several hundred thousand to a million. Early in the afternoon there was a nautical parade, and the president embarked on a yacht that took him across the harbor to Bedloe’s Island, where only

With the statue’s surface made entirely of copper, it initially was just that color, but shortly after 1900, a green patina caused by oxidation began to spread over its copper skin. By 1906 the statue was entirely covered in green. There was a lot of talk and debate in regard to painting the statue, until it was ascertained that the patina not only doesn’t damage the copper, it actually protects the copper from naturally eroding. In 1924, the Statue of Liberty was declared a national monument by President Calvin Coolidge. The Ellis Island immigration process was quite an ordeal. Medical inspections were followed by intense legal questioning before an individual was allowed to step foot on American soil. Anyone found to be sick was detained, and often deported from the quarantine stations. Some healthy immigrants were detained despite perfect health, since they either had no family members there to meet them or didn’t have the monetary means to settle in the U.S. without being a burden on the government.

The only way to visit either (or both) of these islands is by taking a ferry. Statue Cruises is the only authorized provider of tickets and tours of Liberty and Ellis Island, so it’s always worth it to purchase directly from them, and not from any third-party vendor.
There are two departure points for the ferries, one in Liberty Park in New Jersey (right near Liberty Science Center), and the other in Battery Park in Manhattan. If going by car, Liberty Park is a better choice, since parking is ample and available for $7 per car.
Battery Park: while the park doesn’t have an address, you can use 17 State Street, New York, NY 10004, for a GPS.

Liberty Island: In the summer, the Statue of Liberty closes at 5:00 p.m., the National Liberty Museum closes at 5:30 p.m., and grounds on Liberty Island begin to close at 6:15 p.m.
Ellis Island: In the summer, the Ellis Island Museum close at 5:30 p.m., and grounds on Ellis Island begin to close at 6:30 p.m. Admission to both islands and their museums are free; the only fees are the ferry ticket (one ticket gives access to both islands) and a $3 additional fee for Statue of Liberty crown access (limited tickets available; should be booked in advance). Pedestal access has no additional fee, but it also has limited availability.
Ellis Island hospital tours are also available for adults (13+) for $35, and should be reserved in advance.

While there’s plenty to see on the grounds of Liberty Island, a specialty ticket is needed to enter the Statue of Liberty Monument. The pedestal ticket allows visitors up to the top of the pedestal — a limited number of these tickets are available each morning. ELLIS ISLAND IMMIGRATION MUSEUM
154 / THE MONSEY VIEW
The Statue of Liberty Museum is a brand-new interactive experience. Its main feature is the original torch that was damaged in the 1916 explosion that destroyed Black Tom Island (the third of the original Oyster Islands — the other two were Liberty and Ellis Islands). Before the explosion, the torch was actually accessible to tourists. It was replaced with a replica in 1985, and the original is available for public viewing in the new museum. The museum also has a “mint” for pennies that are roughly twice as thick as the standard penny — that’s how thick Lady Liberty’s copper skin is.
This museum gives people a feel of the difficulties immigrants faced upon arriving in America, with artifacts, interactive displays, photos, auditory tours and many exhibits. Some people also look through the logs to locate records of their family members who immigrated through Ellis Island. Visitors find this museum fascinating and educational.

Throughout the years, there were always people who had the itch to travel. Centuries ago, these brave explorers or pioneers had to contend with dangers in the wild, stormy waters, and limited food. Nowadays, however, travelers can cross a country in a matter of days or weeks, and more significantly — they can take their creature comforts along for the ride.
THE VERY FIRST AUTO CAMPERS As soon as automobiles made their debut, wannabe travelers had their vehicle, and recreational traveling became a thing. The first RVs, known as auto campers, were simply early automobiles slightly tweaked so they could provide the bare necessities for their occupants. Pierce-Arros’s Touring Landau, for instance, the very first vehicle of its kind, had a back seat that folded into a bed, and some kind of basic sink attached to the back of the driver’s seat.
Soon, many manufacturers were producing these auto campers, to the delight of travelers all over the nation. Eventually, however, during the era of the Depression, their popularity dropped, although there were some creative folks who used these relatively inexpensive campers in lieu of an actual home.

The interior of a luxury RV today
THE ERA OF THE RV The era after World War II saw a tremendous uptick in RV popularity, partly due to the growing interstate highway system. Suddenly, traveling cross-country seemed so simple, and production of RVs started up again, this time offering a luxury travel experience to those who wanted to explore the nation.
This cool model has space underneath in case leaving your sports car behind is too stressful…
Nowadays, there is no limit (other than a shallow purse) to the luxury and conveniences an RV home can contain. Today’s RVs contain magnificent mini kitchens, convection ovens, washers and dryers, heated showers and more, and luxury models can cost upward of $2 or $3 million! As one proud owner of a succession of RVs says, “RVs have changed, but the reason people RV has been constant the whole time. You can stop right where you are and be at home.”
This is another high-end model that boasts… a porch
This is a motorhome for those who can’t decide whether to purchase an RV or a yacht. Yes, this “floaterhome” can go from road to water, no problem!
TINY HOUSES While their popularity has come and gone, tiny houses have captured the interest of thousands worldwide over the last decade and a half. Jay Shafer, creator of the first tiny house and the brain behind the tiny-house movement, inspired many families all over the nation to cut down on their possessions and learn to enjoy living in a small, uncluttered space.
A typical tiny house
The adorable interior of a tiny house
This idea appealed to both minimalists, who loved the idea of letting go of “stuff,” and also recreational travelers who preferred these tiny homes on wheels to RVs because of their similarity to regular homes. Then there were those who purchased tiny houses simply to reduce their costs of living. Tiny houses, however, encountered much interference when it came to permits, zoning and the like. Also, many owners of regular homes were concerned that allowing tiny houses into the area would turn the entire place into a “shantytown,” where the homeless would quickly congregate.

hazal teach us that the day of a tzadik’s yahrtzeit is a most auspicious day, a יום סגולה ועת רצון, to connect with the tzadik, granting us the potential to elicit brochos and yeshuos min hashomayim in the zechus of the tzadik.

This Shabbos Parshas Korach, Gimmel Tammuz 5779 (July 6, 2019) marks the 25th yahrtzeit of the Lubavitcher Rebbe זי"ע. The following are some suggested ways to commemorate this auspicious day and the days in close proximity to it: | לימוד התורהLearn a Torah teaching of the Rebbe, the baal hahilula, which may be found in over 250 volumes of his seforim and chidushei Torah. | אהבת ישראלReach out to a fellow Jew in chesed. Share the warmth and beauty of Yiddishkeit with another Yid. | אהל הקדושBe mispalel at the Rebbe’s tziyon. A kvittel may also be sent to the Ohel (see details at right). May all of our tefilos be answered, and may we merit the geulah shleimah speedily in our days.
