John Alex Du. Magno was a man defined by his love for family and his dedication to his work. As a water delivery driver, he spent long hours ensuring his household was provided for, embodying the spirit of a hardworking father and husband. His family and friends remember him as someone who gave everything for the people he cared about, leaving a lasting mark on those fortunate enough to know him.
He was strict but caring, especially to his younger relatives. His sense of responsibility extended not only to his immediate family but also to those around him. Despite his serious nature, John could light up a room with his presence. To his cousins, he was a role model who pushed them to be better, even if it sometimes came with tough love.
MOMENTS OF JOY THAT DEFINED HIS CHARACTER
Encounters with John were memorable. Friends and neighbors speak of his warm, approachable personality. He had a habit of greeting everyone with genuine enthusiasm, even during random meetings. One moment particularly stands out: a chance encounter at a supermarket where he was with his wife and child. His happiness radiated as he proudly introduced his family. These were the little things that defined him—small moments that spoke volumes about the kind of man he was.
THE SHOCKING LOSS AND UNANSWERED QUESTIONS
Then came the devastating news. One morning, his family woke up to the shocking information that John had been involved in an accident. Initially, they thought it was something minor, only to learn later that it had claimed his life. It was a blow that shattered the family’s sense of normalcy, plunging them into a sea of grief and confusion. The circumstances of the tragedy are still unclear, leaving the family with haunting questions. How did a supposedly mentally ill individual gain access to a vehicle? Why were such lapses in security allowed to happen? Could the authorities have acted more responsibly to prevent the accident? These unresolved concerns only deepen the pain for those left behind.
THE PAIN OF LOSS AND LINGERING UNCERTAINTY
John’s family remains troubled by the notion that this tragedy could have been avoided. It is a recurring thought that keeps them awake at night. The idea that negligence or a lack of foresight may have played a role in John’s death is difficult to accept. The pain of losing someone so beloved is compounded by the lingering uncertainty surrounding the incident.
The loss is particularly felt by John’s siblings and his child, who bears an uncanny resemblance to him. His absence has created a void in their lives that no amount of time can fill. As they navigate their grief, they are haunted by the memories of a man who gave so much and asked for so little in return.
FIGHTING FOR JUSTICE AND ACCOUNTABILITY
In their sorrow, the family hopes for accountability—not just for John’s sake, but to prevent similar incidents in the future. They believe in the importance of holding people responsible for their actions, especially when those actions have the potential to affect others in devastating ways. The call for justice is not just about punishment but also about ensuring systemic changes to avoid similar tragedies. The family wants this incident to serve as a wake-up call for institutions and individuals alike. Responsibility and vigilance should be at the forefront of every decision, especially when lives are at stake.
PRESERVING JOHN’S LEGACY AND SEEKING CLOSURE
John’s story is a reminder of the fragility of life and the weight of accountability. His family continues to advocate for answers, driven by their love for him and their desire for closure. They are determined to see justice served, not just as a way to honor his memory, but also to protect others from enduring similar heartbreak.
In the quiet moments, John’s family reflects on his legacy. He was more than a husband, father, and provider—he was a beacon of kindness and strength. As they grieve, they carry his memory forward, determined to turn their pain into a pursuit of justice and change.
A LASTING IMPACT
We live in an unexpected world. This day might be crucial, the next day, the other side already has an ending reserved. So the presence of one another is important to give value.
John Alex Du. Magno may no longer be here, but his impact on the lives he touched remains. His story serves as a powerful reminder to value life, take responsibility, and advocate for a better, safer world.
The world might have given him a tragedy ending, the world could’ve thought how for a better life for him on the other side.

Jose Rizal, renowned as the Philippines’ national hero, played many roles— patriot, doctor, writer, and naturalist. During his exile in Dapitan, he created a unique community school that blended intellectual growth with a deep connection to nature. His approach to education reflected his belief in holistic learning, where the natural world was as important as books.
Rizal’s method for selecting students was unconventional. Rather than using exams, he took applicants on walks through the nearby forest. He would ask them to retrieve an object, like a carved cane, which he claimed to have left behind. To add challenge, older boys would hide in the forest, making eerie noises to frighten the applicants.
The purpose of this test was to evaluate courage, character, and resourcefulness. If the applicant could return with the object, they were admitted to his school. Marcial Borromeo, one of his students, recalled how Rizal praised his bravery, marking an unforgettable moment in his educational journey.
In Rizal’s school, nature was central to the curriculum. Students didn’t learn in a traditional classroom setting. They swam,

dived, collected sea shells, and developed practical life skills through hands-on learning. This immersive approach taught them about the world around them in a way that textbooks could not.
Aside from teaching, Rizal practiced medicine, helping the local community with his knowledge of herbal remedies. His compound became a blend of education, healing, and scientific exploration. Students saw firsthand how knowledge could be applied to benefit others, enhancing their learning experience.
Rizal’s curiosity about nature extended beyond Dapitan. He sent preserved specimens of local wildlife, including new species of frogs, lizards, and beetles, to natural scientists in Europe. These specimens were celebrated as groundbreaking discoveries, showcasing Rizal’s passion for science, despite lacking formal academic credentials.
Despite his significant contributions as a naturalist, Rizal’s work in this field is often overlooked. Most memorials and statues focus on his role as a patriot, writer, and doctor. However, Rizal’s early documentation of the unique flora and fauna of the Philippines played a crucial role in the study of

her through her life. Born in Quezon, she lived there for the first few years of her life, and despite being so young, the memories of that time remain vivid. The neighborhood was like an extended family, where neighbors greeted one another with warmth and treated each other with a sense of kinship. “It felt like home, even though we were just neighbors,” she recalls fondly. It was a time of joy and unity, where everyone looked out for each other, making it a special part of her past.
One of Athena’s most cherished memories from those years is from when she was six years old. Her family had moved to Bulacan by then, but they returned to Quezon to visit relatives.
During this visit, she joined her cousins and friends in the tradition of Christmas caroling—a fun and lively activity that captured the spirit of togetherness that Athena fondly associates with Quezon. The joy of singing and spending time with family and friends is something she still holds dear.
Living in Quezon, Athena’s family was no stranger to challenges, particularly when the area would flood during heavy rains. But in those difficult moments, she saw how her community came together. Neighbors would lend a hand without hesitation, offering support in any way they could. Athena remembers a time when their house was flooded, and a neighbor took them in, offering a place to stay while they waited for the waters to recede. This experience of collective care made a lasting impact on her, shaping her understanding of community and solidarity.
Though Athena’s memories of Quezon are filled with warmth, she also recalls the times spent with her family on weekends. They would often visit a place near “Circle,” a local spot that felt like an extension of their home. Sundays were dedicated to family outings, where Athena and her loved ones would relax and enjoy each other’s company. These outings were simple but meaningful, moments where her family grew closer, creating memories that would stay with her for a lifetime.
As Athena grew older and moved to Rizal, she couldn’t help but notice the contrast in the dynamics of her new neighborhood. The sense of closeness she had known in Quezon was harder to find in Rizal. The neighbors here were not as connected, and the once close-knit relationships felt distant. “People here are more private,” she observes, highlighting the difference in how people interact compared to her earlier experiences.
Despite the changes in her environment, Athena continues to carry the values she learned in her childhood. The importance of community, kindness, and support are things that remain central to how she navigates the world. She believes that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference, and it’s a lesson she hopes to carry forward as she builds her own life. Though the physical landscape has changed, the emotional connection to those early years remains strong, and it has shaped her outlook on life.
Looking back, Athena sees how much the sense of community and support from her childhood shaped her understanding of relationships and how we should treat one another. The simple joys of childhood, whether it was caroling in Quezon or spending time with family at “Circle,” are memories she holds close to her heart. They serve as reminders of what truly matters—connection, love, and the importance of looking out for one another.
As she moves forward in life, Athena continues to reflect on the lessons of her past. She believes in the power of community and the strength that comes from supporting one another. And while her surroundings may have changed, the values of kindness and unity she experienced in Quezon remain an integral part of who she is today.

There’s something undeniably captivating about Morong, a quaint town nestled in Rizal, where the ordinary transforms into the extraordinary through the magic of language and culture. It’s a place where even the way people speak tells a story—vibrant, quirky, and deeply rooted in tradition.
On December, the town once again came alive with the colors, music, and contagious energy of its much-awaited Sanrok sa Ringring Festival, a week-long celebration that’s as much about community as it is about creativity. This year, from December 16 to December 22, the festival was an unforgettable experience, showcasing the town’s pride, talent, and unique spirit.
THE SOUND OF MORONG’S LANGUAGE
At the heart of the festival is the unique charm of the Moronguenos, whose dialect stands as a testament to the town’s colorful character. Locals speak Tagalog, but with a twist—a singsong accent that makes their words sound like poetry, and a playful vocabulary that sets them apart. You’ll notice it in their everyday conversations: the letter D takes a backseat to R. So, instead of dingding (wall), you’ll hear ringring, and a sandok (ladle) is affectionately known as a sanrok. These little shifts in pronunciation are more than linguistic quirks; they are markers of Morong’s identity, making the language itself an art form.
And when the festival rolls around, this distinct dialect only adds to the charm, as locals proudly express their stories in their unique tongue—making you feel like you’ve stepped into a world where even the words have a rhythm all their own.
A FESTIVAL THAT UNITES
The Sanrok sa Ringring Festival is the kind of celebration that brings Morong’s eight barangays—San Juan, San Pedro, San Jose, San Guillermo, Lagundi, Caniogan-Calero-Lanang,
Maybancal, and Bombongan—together in an exhilarating display of unity. For the locals, it’s a chance to come together, showcase their creativity, and revel in their shared pride for their community.
The festival’s centerpiece? The highly anticipated street dance competition. Held at the iconic Morong Rizal Plaza, this is where the magic truly happens. Expect a high-energy showdown between the barangays, each one bringing their A-game with a mix of traditional and modern dance moves that tell the story of Morong’s culture, history, and dreams for the future.
THE THRILL OF PERFORMANCE
The air crackles with excitement as dancers take the stage. Each barangay puts forth their best routine, filled with color, rhythm, and undeniable talent. For the crowd, it’s not just about watching a performance—it’s about feeling the passion and effort that goes into each move, each beat.
This year’s competition was nothing short of spectacular. Barangay San Guillermo emerged victorious, claiming the Championship title with their energetic, creative, and flawless performance. Not far behind, Barangay San Pedro captured the 1st Runner-Up spot, while Barangay Lagundi secured 2nd Runner-Up, their performance full of creativity and flair.
But it wasn’t just about dancing. Barangay Lagundi also took home the Best Costume Award, dazzling spectators with their vibrant and eyecatching outfits. Meanwhile, the highlight of the night? Barangay San Guillermo’s queen, who charmed the crowd with grace, poise, and a regal presence, earning her the coveted title of Festival Queen.
These awards, however, are just a reflection of what the festival truly stands for: a celebration of creativity, imagination, and community pride. The people of Morong don’t just compete—they bring their hearts, their traditions, and their spirit to every aspect of the festival.

Safety is the utmost priority of the Department of Education (DepEd), with this, new DepEd Order (DO) 022, s. 2024- ‘Revised Guidelines on Class and Work Suspension in Schools During Disasters and Emergencies’ states that if weather disturbance occurs, class suspensions will be implemented, but with the current changes in the school calendar, frequent class suspensions cause disturbance.
According to many teachers and students, frequent class suspensions can result in a lower quality of education since students are in their homes causing them to be less productive, in the contrast of actively learning and participating in the school premises.
As a result, Education Secretary Sonny Angara has ordered a review of the DepEd policy on class suspension during typhoons, saying there must be a balance between ensuring the safety of students and teachers and preventing further increases in the number of school days lost.
automatically canceled if the schools are situated in local government units (LGUs) under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals (TCWS) 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 which is issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In an interview with Radyo Singko 92.3 News FM, Education Undersecretary for governance and field operations Revsee Escobedo said Angara wanted the review to be done “immediately” following several days of class suspensions due to six consecutive tropical cyclones that hit the country late October into November.
Meanwhile the department also said, suspension of classes should be announced by the Undersecretary
In situations where there are strong winds in specific or all areas, the Local Government but no Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals issued by PAGASA, the local chief executive “shall decide on the cancellation or suspension of classes.”
In totality, suspension of classes due to weather disturbance can value the safety of students and teachers, but if it’s too frequent, this can lower the quality of education therefore affecting the students performances.

For a number of years where education are constantly being basis towards one another’s intellectual value resulting of an extreme augmentation of high standards in terms of rank, still a lot of successful students are being raised despite this negative mindset.
In terms of diurnal bag of knowledge using different ways of learnings that usually focus on major content that will help the students as well as the country to recover from low educational rate worldwide.
According to a Morong National High School (MNHS) student “Ella”, not her real name, who is been experiencing this kind of knot “As someone who has been dealing with academic pressure since then, I’d like to further explain things as someone who’s locked yet open to everything. It’s hard, of course, kasi sino ba namang magaaral ang maghahangad at magpapabuti sa larangan ng edukasyon at pag-aaral kung sa suporta pa lamang ay salat na? Dealing with this everyday made me locked in upon thriving things for the better – kaya ko man o hindi na. ‘Yung tipong I’ll do everything they want me to do so because I’m afraid of the disappointment I’d probably give once I took my own decision.”
Due to this, a lot of parents are putting high standards or expectations when it comes to students grades, resulting for them to achieve success behind the dulling shadow they have been receiving.
This kind of blurring doesn’t help for everyone to have a great moment especially when different activities and projects are crowding in their minds, it just brings conflict to humans psychological health.
BLINDING STANDARDS
As the continuous practice of this are gradually affecting one another’s mental health just to give justice to the raising norms eventually led to something student should not feel.
She added that the academic factor are not the only one that affects her stability during this, adding that she’s been so active in school organizations even leadership’s and activities, draining her both physically and mentally.
Despite of this, she also stated that she’s happy because it’s her
choice, even she knows that she’s working under pressure for so long. Moreover, being mentally exhausted means that a person is feeling extremely tired though after an 8 hours long rest also experiencing personality loss.
DREADFUL HINT
Passing through this matter might result to something serious like the depression and anxiety, it is when a person are having trouble with anxiousness and not doing the activities they used to love.
Excessive worrying about the surrounding will also occur especially if the person are physically and emotionally exhausted during a certain period of time.
Sometimes irritability can be felt due to life stress, lack of sleep, and hormonal changes that is caused by some onerous events causing for learners to avert their focus far from their real goals.
Some people think that these kind of problems can only be seen by adults, but this serious matter does not actually requires age.
FRENETIC DESOLATION
“Acceptance. I just learn how to love what I’m doing while also feeling the pressure I never asked for, aaminin kong mahirap, but once you get to the point where you just accept things occurring your way in terms of academic problems and such things related to education, you’ll feel free.” ‘Ella’ added.
A lot of people has been accusing teens as being dramatic when it comes to this, but deep down, it isn’t a laughing matter that many parents didn’t consider at all, or infrequently seen by the others.
Some symptoms can be seen by normal people but to those person’s or students who doesn’t usually give enough attention to their mental health might see this as a simple mood swings.
People cannot actually dodge having problems or bad circumstances, in line with this, to avoid the gradual darkening of each minds, experts advices to stay connected with supportive people to not feel loneliness and cut off those things that doesn’t give you relief.
This kind of mindset should be replaced with positive one, where each students can be expressed without judgement and having the toxic demeanor where only mental ill are the one who’s seeking help from psychological services.
As crimes increase in Morong, many people become endangered since most areas and public spaces are unsafe, people should be able to contact emergency services, and as the expansion of the modernized 911 emergency system, this can ultimately contain crimes faster.
Morong, a second-class municipality in Rizal province, Philippines, becomes the first local government unit in the country to utilize nextgeneration 911 emergency response systems.
In partnership with National Government Agency in the Philippines (NGA) Philippines, a subsidiary of California-based NGA 911 LLC, a company that provides emergency calling technology. Morong adopted the advanced digital technology for emergency communication and public safety services. This system, aligned with Executive Order 56 of 2018, replaces Patrol 117 as the emergency hotline. Built on global industry standards by the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) and the European Emergency Number Association (EENA), the NG911 system uses internet protocol (IP) technology to transmit voice, text, and video messages. It also provides real-time location and condition data of callers, enabling faster and more efficient emergency response.
The initiative, launched by Morong Mayor Sidney Soriano in April 2022, demonstrates a pioneering use of technology in the Philippines to enhance public safety and emergency response. This innovation is expected to significantly improve how the municipality handles disasters, medical emergencies, and other urgent situations.
While in the Philippines, the 911 emergency hotline has been available to the public since August 1, 2016, starting in Davao City. It is the first of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region. It replaces the previous emergency number 117 used outside Davao City.
In summary, the expansion of 911 emergency service calls can improve the country’s safety as well as the availability to reach services in just three digit clicks, this expansion also aims to reduce the likelihood of small crimes such as robbery, stealing and burglary.

In May 2024, marks the graduation season of school year 2023-2024, students claim their achievements but instead of happiness, an issue arises due to“Too many honors”according to some parents.
Based on the new Memo of the Department of Education (DepEd), it stated that all final calculated grades that are 90 and above are considered “honor students”, they also provided a new set of classification for the grades students and their equal recognition. Additionally, this new memo aims to give many students the opportunity to be recognized and remove competition between students, they did this to ensure students learn in a friendly and motivating manner.
And in May, the graduation season of school 2023-2024, 5 out of 10 students are with honors.
But according to some concerned parents, this is “too good to be true” due to the sudden burst of honor students, many parents question this new grading system and recognition system. This results in a possible revision of the memo, according to DepEd Assistant Secretary Francis Cesar Bringas, “Since we will revise curriculum effective school year 2024-2025, it comes with a revision or modification of our classroom assessment policies that will also entail, possibly, of our grading system and awards recognition,” said in an interview with Teleradyo on July 12 2024.
But Bingas did not provide specific details of the possible changes. He also added“We will still be working for equal opportunities for recognition of personal achievements rather than instituting competition among learners,” he said. This means there could be a change in the grading system and probably the calculation of grades in the upcoming school years.
To end, being an honor student or not doesn’t define a child’s intellectual capabilities, students and teachers must also be honest in doing their task, DepEd must also further analyst the current grading and recognition systems.

Everyone carries their own passion over their back. Some have the opportunity to showcase what they see themselves into. Being a student-athlete is a challenge for a balanced life. Sports and education are both sentimental, as we tend to look through the beauty in how they both help us to strive in life. However, not all the time, one’s passion is flying—some will get stuck by the pundits arguing the need of a striking balance in academics and sports. What will be the best path along the way? As if they have a choice to choose between the two, throwing away either passion or knowledge.
At some point, every aspect of life requires knowledge. Whether it’s in sports or any kind of habits, we see ourselves shine. And learning a passion doesn’t mean it disregards the need to know other areas in education too. With the adaptability and critical thinking we learn in academics, it shows how education prepares a

STRIKING BALANCE
person for an ever-changing world. And if we don’t learn, we might miss out on what the future on the other side awaits for us.
As if they have a choice to choose between the two, throwing away either passion or knowledge. “
But the debate between education and sports is completely different. As both carry their own cons and pros. If we focus more on education, we can lack on the physical aspect. But if we focus more
on sports, we can lack the learning experience and prepared knowledge.
So the word “balance” will enter along the way. However, it shouldn’t only be applied to the learners but the school too. School is where they learn and strive for their passion. With the consideration on both sides, it will help the balancing be even more efficient in every way.
It may not be applicable and seen in our area, but some part of the world applies this balance. One of them is USA, which is known for its high-quality sports education program. This means that it is reliable and can be effective for our country. This can also hold the passion in which every student-athlete holds dearly.
So as much as we debate which is more valuable, it’s none of the above. What’s more valuable is the equality from the school and sports for the student-athletes who strive to give their school and municipality a title and raise the name of their school and area.
