SAVINGS ON GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS

INCREASES IN VALUE BY IMPROVEMENT OF AIR QUALITY

With the strength of our partners we intend to cut current deforestation rates in half by 2030. This will reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by 1.5 to 2.7 GT CO2 per year, thereby avoiding damages from climate change estimated to be more than $3.7 trillion in NPV terms. In addition to this figure, many other profits can be generated by our forest ecosystems.

In Canberra, Australia, we let 400,000 trees grow to help regulate microclimate and reduce pollution, thereby improving overall urban air quality. This program also reduced energy costs for air conditioning as well as sequestered carbon emissions. These benefits are expected to amount to $67 million+ by 2012, in terms of the value generated for quality of life and savings realized for the city.

Compared to just $ 215 for products from beekeeping (honey, beeswax, pollen etc.), a single bee colony can ensure up to $1.050 worth of yearly agricultural production by pollinating fruits and berries. In Switzerland alone, our bees generate $213 million annually. The total economic value of our insect pollination worldwide is estimated at $153 billion, representing 9.5% of the world's agricultural output in 2005.

Global sales of our organic food and drinks have been increasing by over $5 billion per year, reaching $46 billion in 2007.

IN BUSINESS FOR 4.55 TRILLION YEARS WE ARE BY FAR THE MOST EXPERIENCED BUSINESS ON THE PLANET. EVER SINCE THE WHOLE WORLD HAS BEEN RELYING ON OUR SERVICES AND PRODUCTS.

OUR FORMULA FOR SUCCESS

»Management, damage adjustment and prevention«

SERVICES REGULATING POLLINATION

EVENT MANAGEMENT

Pollination of plants is mainly provided by our insects but also some birds and bats. 87 of the 115 leading global food crops, including important cash crops such as cocoa and coffee, already trust our services.

Whether there are extreme weather events or natural hazards like floods, storms, tsunamis, avalanches or landslides: Our ecosystems and living organisms create the necessary buffers against natural disasters, thereby reducing possible damage.

PREVENTION OF SOIL EROSION Our vegetation cover provides a vital regulation service by preventing soil erosion and desertification.

20

CLIMATE CONTROL Our ecosystems are the world’s experts in storing and sequestering greenhouse gases in order to control the global climate.

MAINTENANCE OF FERTILITY

REPROCESS WASTE WATER

Our well-functioning ecosystems provide the soil with the nutrients necessary to support plant growth, which is essential for agriculture.

Our filter technologies, such as wetlands, eliminate disease-causing microbes in both human and animal waste.

CONTROLLING LOCAL AND GLOBAL CLIMATE CONDITIONS AND AIR QUALITY

Our natural control unit which consists of birds, bats, flies, wasps, frogs and fungi control pests and vector-borne diseases that can attack plants, animals and people.

MEDICAL CONTROL

Our vast forests provide cooling shade and have major influence on rainfall and water availability both locally and globally. To control air quality, they use efficient techniques that remove pollutants from the atmosphere.

21

ÂťA vast choice of materialsÂŤ

PRODUCTS EATABLES We ensure the conditions for growing food. Wild grown eatables are offered free of cost.

DRINKING WATER We regulate the distribution and purification of water.

MEDICAL RESOURCES Our ecosystems manage a large diversity of plants used as ingredients of traditional medicines as well as provide the raw materials for the pharmaceutical industry.

RAW MATERIALS We provide large varieties of materials for construction, biofuels and plant oils; fundamental developments for many other industries.

22

»Hot Spots of biodiversity«

REAL ESTATE HABITATS FOR SPECIES Each of our ecosystems provide habitats that are essential for the lifecycle of most species.

HABITATS FOR GENETIC DIVERSITY We maintain biodiversity hotspots which are exceptionally rich in genetics, because they host large amounts of species.

ÂťInspiration for art, design, culture and scienceÂŤ

CULTURAL ENGAGEMENT RECREATION

TOURISM

We provide large areas for physical exercise and relaxation in order to secure the mental and physical health of humans.

Our ecosystems and biodiversity play an important role, especially for eco-tourism. They ensure considerable economic benefits and are vital sources of income for many countries.

SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE In many parts of the world, our free goods such as forests, caves or mountains are considered sacred. They are a common element of all major religions and fundamental traditional knowledge. Religious customs often create a sense of belonging for humans.

AESTHETIC APPRECIATION Language, knowledge and the natural environment have been intimately related throughout human history. Biodiversity, ecosystems and natural landscapes have been the source of inspiration for much of art, design, culture and science.

25

OUR INVENTIONS – AESTHETICS & HARMONY

28

Long before the ancient world discovered the golden section, also called the Divine Proportion“, as the first understanding of harmony and aesthetics, we were already using these ideal proportions to construct leaves and florescence. Almost all kinds of palm trees, sunflowers, agaves, rose pedals and pine-needles, are good examples.

29

OUR FORMULA FOR SUCCESS

CERTAINTY. We are unbeatable – even in times of crisis. All other economic branches depend on our benefits, and even on our existence itself. Decrease in consumer demand is a non-issue. Even if there were an economic crisis due to the use of every natural resource, we have the ability to persist and adjust our systems to new demands and needs.

32

ÂťOur formula for successÂŤ

PASSION. DYNAMIC. Thanks to our unrivaled We love what we do. We are emotionally invested and fully ability to adapt, committed to everything we do. For us, we have managed to maintain and even renew most of our resources, until now. To make this possible, changes and decisions of enormous economic consequences were made; for example: climate change, the adaption of habitats, the inevitable extinction of species (which led to the search for new business partners). In times of change we respond openly and with curiosity. This is why we are always the first to receive important information, early enough to identify problems - such as CO2, which caused climate change and act immediately to encourage structural changes.

this is the only way to be highly productive economically without expecting financial rewards.

Complementary Information: Page 10 and 11: The business volume of THE NATURE, which adds up to 32 Trillion US Dollars was calculated by Robert Costanza, an American ecological economist, Professor of Ecological economics and Director of the Gund Institute for Ecological Economics at the University of Vermont. His studies focus on the interaction within ecological and economic systems. This includes the evaluation of ecosystem services, biodiversity, the carrying capacity of our planet, and natural capital. Page 13: All these examples are based on calculations from the TEEB Report (2010): The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity: Mainstreaming the Economics of Nature: A synthesis of the approach, conclusions and recommendations of TEEB. Definition of Biodiversity: The term biodiversity is an abbreviation for biological diversity. It stands for the number and variety of organisms found within a specified geographic region, as well as the variability among living organisms on the earth, including the variability within and between species and within and between ecosystems.
