Cranes are raised, concrete is poured, new structures are taking shape, and colorful new artwork and landscaping is blooming in the growing 100-acre Lake Nona Town Center. As Lake Nona’s open-air urban district and entertainment hub continues to expand, we’re sharing the latest updates on new announcements and amenities coming soon to Lake Nona Town Center. Lake Nona Performance Club Scheduled to open in July 2021, Lake Nona’s new world-class fitness center will be a game-changer for whole-person health and community wellbeing. The 130,000-square-foot Lake Nona Performance Club (LNPC) will redefine the fitness center experience for the region with leading-edge workout equipment, state-of-art classes, and interactive programs driven by the latest performance technology. Beyond the best-in-class facilities and programming, LNPC strives to be a go-to health and wellbeing resource for the entire community by offering inclusive programs and recreational leagues that are open to both members and non-members with options for individuals and families. LNPC will also host community education classes led by the professional staff that will be open to the public. “Lake Nona Performance Club is a place that promotes community; where you connect with others and find your tribe,” said LNPC Executive Director Jay Groves. “We’re very keen on making sure our members connect with the experiences and people they most identify with.” In addition to memberships, day passes and individual class purchase options will also be available to give everyone, locals and visitors alike, an opportunity to experience LNPC. SIMCOM Aviation Training Global Headquarters SIMCOM Aviation Training is building a new, state-ofthe-art global headquarters and training facility in Lake Nona Town Center. The five-acre site will include 12 fullflight simulator bays and train an estimated 10,000 pilots per year. The facility is expected to begin construction this year and open in 2022. “SIMCOM is proud to call Orlando home,” said Eric Hinson, President and CEO of SIMCOM International. “This is an exciting new chapter for our company and the new downtown Lake Nona district is the perfect location for our continued growth.” Central Florida has a long history in aviation and aerospace. The region serves as a major center for flight training due to its year-round flying weather, hyper-connected air access, and robust aviation and aerospace workforce. These assets have helped Orlando become the world’s epicenter for simulation and training. “SIMCOM’s continued investment in Orlando’s Lake Nona is a testament to our city’s growing reputation as a thriving epicenter for the modeling and simulation and the aviation industries,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. “SIMCOM’s new training center will bring people from all over the globe to Orlando for pilot and aircraft maintenance training, creating an additional impact on our community’s economy and in our local businesses, and we know while these guests are here, they will experience the world-class hospitality for which Orlando is known.” Prismatic Mural You may have noticed a colorful new mural has joined Lake Nona’s community art program along the Veterans Way entrance to Town Center. Inspired by a deconstructed prism, the picture-perfect “Prismatic” mural plays off of the visual where interacting light creates a spectrum of different colors. The concept complements the Town Center’s existing “Code Wall” artwork created by Jefre that wraps the main parking garage. The “Code Wall” uses dichromatic glass to create an abstracted representation of the rainbow colors reflected in light itself.

“I wanted to make sure “Prismatic” would feel purposeful when seen next to the existing pattern on the parking garage,” said mural designer Carissa Bloemeke. “It’s almost like matching patterns in your home or in an outfit – using similarities and subtle differences to create a clash that works.” Bloemeke, a local artist and Tavistock Development Company graphic designer, also designed the large chalk mural located in the main Pixon lobby. The mural was installed by Lake Nona-based painter Samantha’s Walls. “Prismatic” is displayed on 25-foot walls that surround a new 8,500-square-foot chiller plant. A chiller plant is a centralized system that cools the air for a building or collection of buildings and provides the airconditioning portion of HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning) systems. Using a centralized system saves more energy than standard individual systems and are typically more reliable with less maintenance required. The Town Center chiller plant will serve future buildings schedule to open next year including the Lake Nona Performance Center and Lake Nona Wave Hotel. The mural’s cascade of color transforms the utilitarian chiller plant into a destination-worthy artistic display. The finishing touches and accompanying landscape are being added. “Prismatic” will be completed with custom geometric letterform “Lake Nona” sign along the exterior wall facing Veterans Way. There is so much to look forward to with new developments that will complement the variety of dining, public art, and signature outdoor events Town Center is known for. Local restaurants like Chroma Modern Bar + Kitchen, Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine, and Park Pizza & Brewing Co., are open with to-go and outdoor dining options available. Open-air events including Art After Dark every Friday from 6 – 9 p.m. and Lake Nona Farmer’s Market every Saturday from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. make the Town Center a must-visit each weekend.
