The Kehrlis are strong supporters of 4-H and have both worn many hats including leader, mentor, committee member, tour guide and volunteer. Five of their children have been 4-Hers, becoming the 4th generation of Kehrlis to benefit greatly from the lessons 4-H projects teach, and the life skills acquired through the process. “Counties select inductees for their exceptional work in contributing to the lives of 4-H members and the overall 4-H program,” said Alexia Hamlett, Youth Coordinator for Buchanan County ISU Extension and Outreach. “Many inductees served as club leaders, youth mentors, fair superintendents or fair board members, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach county council members, county youth council members, fair judges, financial supporters, chaperones or ISU Extension and Outreach staff members.
