FROSTY THE SNOWMAN
Frosty the snowman
Was a jolly happy soul With a corncob pipe And a button nose and Two eyes made out of coal
Frosty the snowman Is a fairy tale they say He was made of snow
But the children know How he came to life one day
There must have been some magic In that old silk hat they found For when they placed it on his head He began to dance around
Frosty the snowman Was alive as he could be And the children say He could laugh and play Just the same as you and me
Frosty the snowman Knew the sun was hot that day
So he said, “Let’s run
And we’ll have some fun Now before I melt away”
Down to the village With a broomstick in his hand
Running here and there
All around the square Saying “Catch me if you can”
He led them down the streets of town
Right to the traffic cop
And he only paused a moment when He heard him holler “Stop!”
Frosty the snowman
Had to hurry on his way
But he waved goodbye saying, “Don’t you cry I’ll be back again some day”
Thumpity, thump, thump Thumpity, thump, thump Look at Frosty go
Thumpity, thump, thump Thumpity, thump, thump
Over the hills of snow

WALKING IN A WINTER WONDERLAND
Sleigh bells ring, are you listening, In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight, We’re happy tonight. Walking in a winter wonderland.
Gone away is the bluebird, Here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song, As we go along, Walking in a winter wonderland.
In the meadow we can build a snowman, Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He’ll say: Are you married?
We’ll say: No man, But you can do the job
When you’re in town.
Later on, we’ll conspire, As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid, The plans that we’ve made, Walking in a winter wonderland.
In the meadow we can build a snowman, And pretend that he’s a circus clown
We’ll have lots of fun with mister snowman, Until the other kids knock him down.
When it snows, ain’t it thrilling, Though your nose gets a chilling We’ll frolic and play, the Eskimo way, Walking in a winter wonderland.
IT CAME UPON A MIDNIGHT CLEAR
It came upon the midnight clear, That glorious song of old, From angels bending near the earth, To touch their harps of gold: “Peace on the earth, goodwill to men From heavens all gracious King!” The world in solemn stillness lay To hear the angels sing.
Still through the cloven skies they come, With peaceful wings unfurled; And still their heavenly music floats O’er all the weary world: Above its sad and lowly plains They bend on hovering wing, And ever o’er its Babel sounds The blessed angels sing. O ye beneath life’s crushing load, Whose forms are bending low, Who toil along the climbing way With painful steps and slow; Look now, for glad and golden hours Come swiftly on the wing; Oh rest beside the weary road And hear the angels sing.
For lo! the days are hastening on, By prophets seen of old, When with the ever-circling years Shall come the time foretold, When the new heaven and earth shall own The Prince of Peace, their King, And the whole world send back the song Which now the angels sing.
We hope you enjoy the holiday season with family, friends and neighbours. May the New Year be a happy and prosperous one.
Thank you from
While shepherds kept their watching
Over silent flocks by night, Behold throughout the heavens, There shone a holy light: Go, Tell It On The Mountain, Over the hills and everywhere; Go, Tell It On The Mountain
That Jesus Christ is born.
The shepherds feared and trembled
When lo! above the earth
Rang out the angel chorus That hailed our Saviour’s birth: Go, Tell It On The Mountain, Over the hills and everywhere; Go, Tell It On The Mountain That Jesus Christ is born.
Down in a lowly manger
Our humble Christ was born And God send us salvation, That blessed Christmas morn: Go, Tell It On The Mountain, Over the hills and everywhere; Go, Tell It On The Mountain That Jesus Christ is born.
When I am a seeker, I seek both night and day; I seek the Lord to help me, And He shows me the way: Go, Tell It On The Mountain, Over the hills and everywhere; Go, Tell It On The Mountain That Jesus Christ is born.
He made me a watchman Upon the city wall, And if I am a Christian, I am the least of all. Go, Tell It On The Mountain, Over the hills and everywhere; Go, Tell It On The Mountain
That Jesus Christ is born.

I SAW THREE SHIPS
I saw three ships come sailing in On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day; I saw three ships come sailing in On Christmas Day in the morning.
And what was in those ships all three, On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day? And what was in those ships all three, On Christmas Day in the morning?
The Virgin Mary and Christ were there, On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day; The Virgin Mary and Christ were there, On Christmas Day in the morning.
Pray, wither sailed those ships all three, On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day; Pray, wither sailed those ships all three, On Christmas Day in the morning?
O they sailed into Bethlehem, On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day; O they sailed into Bethlehem, On Christmas Day in the morning. And all the bells on earth shall ring, On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day; And all the bells on earth shall ring, On Christmas Day in the morning.
And all the Angels in Heaven shall sing, On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day; And all the Angels in Heaven shall sing, On Christmas Day in the morning.
And all the souls on earth shall sing, On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day; And all the souls on earth shall sing, On Christmas Day in the morning.
Then let us all rejoice again, On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day; Then let us all rejoice again, On Christmas Day in the morning.
I WANT A HIPPOPOTAMUS FOR CHRISTMAS
I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
Don’t want a doll
No dinky tinker toy
I want a hippopotamus to play with and enjoy
I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
I don’t think Santa Claus will mind do you?
He won’t have to use
A dirty chimney flue
Just bring him through the front door
That’s the easy thing to do
I can see me now on Christmas morning
Creeping down the stairs
Oh what joy and what surprise
When I open up my eyes
To see a hippo hero standing there
I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles
No rhinoceroses
I only like hippopotamuses
And hippopotamuses like me too
Mom says a hippo would eat me up but then
Teacher says a hippo is a vegetarian
There’s lots of room for him
In our two car garage
I’d feed him there
And wash him there
And give him his massage
I can see me now on Christmas morning
Creeping down the stairs
Theseason’streasures
Theseason’streasures
Oh what joy and what surprise
When I open up my eyes
To see a hippo hero standing there
I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles
Or rhinoceroses-es
I only like hippopotamuses-es
And hippopotamuses like me too
First Christmas
This day a year ago, he was rolling in the snow
With a younger brother in his father’s yard
Christmas break, a time for touching home, The heart of all he’d known And leaving was so hard
Three thousand miles away,
Now he’s working Christmas Day
Making double time for the minding of the store
Well he always said, he’d make it on his own
He’s spending Christmas Eve alone
First Christmas away from home
Greetings, Friends
She’s standing by the train station, Pan-handling for change
Four more dollars buys a decent meal and a room Looks like the Sally Ann place after all, In a crowded sleeping hall
That echoes like a tomb
But it’s warm and clean and free, And there are worse places to be
At least it means no beating from her Dad
And if she cries because it’s Christmas Day She hopes that it won’t show First Christmas away from home
In the apartment stands a tree, And it looks so small and bare
Not like it was meant to be, Golden angel on the top
It’s not that same old silver star, You wanted for your own
First Christmas away from home
In the morning, they get prayers, Then it’s crafts and tea downstairs
Then another meal back in his little room
Hoping maybe that “the boys” Will think to phone before the day is gone Well, it’s best they do it soon
When the “old girl” passed away, He fell apart more every day
Each had always kept the other pretty well
But the kids all said the nursing home was best Cause he couldn’t live alone
First Christmas away from home
In the common room they’ve got the biggest tree
And it’s huge and cold and lifeless
Not like it ought to be,
And the lit-up flashing Santa Claus on top
It’s not that same old silver star, You once made for your own First Christmas away from home
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS MY TWO FRONT TEETH
Every body stops and stares at me
These two teeth are gone as you can see I don’t know just who to blame for this catastrophe!
But my one wish on Christmas Eve is as plain as it can be!
All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth, my two front teeth, see my two front teeth!
Gee, if I could only have my two front teeth, then I could be with you
“Merry Christmas.” It seems so long since I could say, “Sister Susie sitting on a thistle!”
Gosh oh gee, how happy I’d be, if I could only whistle (thhhh)
All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth, my two front teeth, see my two front teeth.
Gee, if I could only have my two front teeth, then I could wish you “Merry Christmas!”
RUDOLPH, THE RED-NOSED REINDEER
Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose. And if you ever saw him, you would even say it glows.
All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names. They never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games.
Then one foggy Christmas Eve Santa came to say:
“Rudolph with your nose so bright, won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”
Then all the reindeer loved him as they shouted out with glee, Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, you’ll go down in history!
IT’S CHRISTMAS DAY
A baby boy was born one day In a stable far away He nestled in a manger bed On straw he laid his tiny head
(Chorus) It’s Christmas Day all over Earth Let the bells ring out for Jesus’s birth
The shepherds came from near and far Guided by a lonely star The Wise men travelled night and day
To Bethlehem where Jesus lay
(Chorus) It’s Christmas Day all over Earth
Let the bells ring out for Jesus’s birth
They looked upon that infant face Saviour for the human race So every year on Christmas Day We’ll thank dear God in our own way
(Chorus) It’s Christmas Day all over Earth
Let the bells ring out for Jesus’s birth.
O CHRISTMAS TREE
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, How steadfast are Your branches! Your boughs are green In summer’s clime And through the snows Of wintertime.
O Christmas Tree,
O Christmas Tree, How steadfast are Your branches!
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, What happiness befalls me When oft at Joyous Christmas-time Your form inspires My song and rhyme.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, What happiness befalls me
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, Your boughs can Teach a lesson
That constant faith And hope sublime Lend strength and Comfort through all time.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, Your boughs can Teach a lesson

O HOLY NIGHT!
O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining, It is the night of the dear Saviour’s birth. Long lay the world in sin and error pining. Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices, For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn. Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices! O night divine, the night when Christ was born;
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!
Led by the light of faith serenely beaming, With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
O’er the world a star is sweetly gleaming, Now come the wisemen from out of the Orient land.
The King of kings lay thus lowly manger; In all our trials born to be our friends. He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Truly He taught us to love one another, His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother. And in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we, With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we, His power and glory ever more proclaim! His power and glory ever more proclaim!
Hope Santa Serves You Up A Happy Holiday!
Santa's heading your way with his holiday special topped with lots of gifts and goodies. Enjoy the festivities in good spirits and with good company.

THE FIRST NOEL
The First Noel, the Angels did say Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay In fields where they lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter’s night that was so deep.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!
They looked up and saw a star Shining in the East beyond them far And to the earth it gave great light And so it continued both day and night.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!
And by the light of that same star Three Wise men came from country far To seek for a King was their intent And to follow the star wherever it went.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!
This star drew nigh to the northwest
O’er Bethlehem it took its rest And there it did both Pause and stay Right o’er the place where Jesus lay.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!
Then entered in those Wise men three Full reverently upon their knee And offered there in His presence
Their gold and myrrh and frankincense.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!
Then let us all with one accord Sing praises to our heavenly Lord That hath made Heaven and earth of nought
And with his blood mankind has bought.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

CHESTNUTS ROASTING ON AN OPEN FIRE
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Jack Frost nipping at your nose
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir
And folks dressed up like Eskimos
Ev’rybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe
Help to make the season bright
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow
Will find it hard to sleep tonight
They know that Santa’s on his way
He’s loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh
And ev’ry mother’s child is gonna spy
To see if reindeer really know how to fly
And so I’m offering this simple phrase
To kids from one to ninety-two
Although it’s been said many times, many ways, “Merry Christmas to you.”
OLD TOY TRAINS
Old toy trains, little toy tracks
Little boy toys coming from a sack
Carried by a man dressed in white and red Little boy, don’t you think it’s time you were in bed?
Close your eyes
Listen to the skies
All is calm, all is well
Soon you’ll hear Kris Kringle and the jingle bells
Bringin’ old toy trains, little toy tracks
Little boy toys coming from a sack
Carried by a man dressed in white and red Little boy, don’t you think it’s time you were in bed?
Close your eyes
Listen to the skies
All is calm, all is well
Soon you’ll hear Kris Kringle and the jingle bells
Bringin’ old toy trains, little toy tracks
Little boy toys coming from a sack
Carried by a man dressed in white and red Little boy, don’t you think it’s time you were in bed?
THE HOLLY AND THE IVY
The holly and the ivy,
When they are both full grown
Of all the trees that are in the wood
The holly bears the crown
O the rising of the sun
And the running of the deer
The playing of the merry organ
Sweet singing of the choir
The holly bears a blossom
As white as lily flower
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ
To be our sweet Saviour
O the rising of the sun
And the running of the deer
The playing of the merry organ
Sweet singing of the choir
The holly bears a berry
As red as any blood
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ
To do poor sinners good
O the rising of the sun
And the running of the deer
The playing of the merry organ
Sweet singing of the choir
The holly bears a prickle
As sharp as any thorn;
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ
On Christmas Day in the morn.
O the rising of the sun
And the running of the deer
The playing of the merry organ
Sweet singing of the choir
The holly bears a bark
As bitter as any gall;
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ
For to redeem us all.
O the rising of the sun
And the running of the deer
The playing of the merry organ
Sweet singing of the choir
The holly and the ivy
Now both are full well grown,
Of all the trees that are in the wood,
The holly bears the crown.
O the rising of the sun
And the running of the deer
The playing of the merry organ
Sweet singing of the choir
WE THREE KINGS OF ORIENT ARE
We three kings of Orient are Bearing gifts we traverse afar Field and fountain, moor and mountain Following yonder star
O Star of wonder, star of night Star with royal beauty bright Westward leading, still proceeding Guide us to thy Perfect Light
Born a King on Bethlehem’s plain Gold I bring to crown Him again King forever, ceasing never Over us all to rein
O Star of wonder, star of night Star with royal beauty bright Westward leading, still proceeding Guide us to Thy perfect light
Frankincense to offer have I Incense owns a Deity nigh Pray’r and praising, all men raising Worship Him, God most high O Star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright Westward leading, still proceeding Guide us to Thy perfect light
Myrrh is mine, its bitter perfume Breathes of life of gathering gloom Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying Sealed in the stone-cold tomb
O Star of wonder, star of night Star with royal beauty bright Westward leading, still proceeding Guide us to Thy perfect light
Glorious now behold Him arise King and God and Sacrifice Alleluia, Alleluia Earth to heav’n replies
O Star of wonder, star of night Star with royal beauty bright Westward leading, still proceeding Guide us to Thy perfect light .
Just hear those sleigh bells jingling
Ring-ting-tingling too
Come on, it’s lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together with you
Outside the snow is falling
And friends are calling, “Yoo hoo”
Come on, it’s lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together with you
Giddy up, giddy up, giddy up
Let’s go, let’s look at the show
We’re riding in a wonderland of snow
Giddy up, giddy up, giddy up
It’s grand, just holding your hand
We’re riding along with a song
Of a wintry fairy land
Our cheeks are nice and rosy
And comfy cozy are we
We’re snuggled up together
Like two birds of a feather would be
Let’s take that road before us
And sing a chorus or two
Come on, it’s lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together with you
There’s a birthday party
At the home of Farmer Gray
It’ll be the perfect ending of a perfect day
We’ll be singing the songs
We love to sing without a single stop
At the fireplace while we watch
The chestnuts pop; Pop! Pop! Pop!
There’s a happy feeling
Nothing in the world can buy
When they pass around the coffee
And the pumpkin pie
It’ll nearly be like a picture print
By Currier and Ives
These wonderful things are the things
We remember all through our lives!
Just hear those sleigh bells jingling
Ring-ting-tingling too
Come on, it’s lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together with you
Outside the snow is falling
And friends are calling, “Yoo hoo”
Come on, it’s lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together with you
Come on, it’s lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together with you
Lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you

GOD REST YE MERRY GENTLEMEN
God rest ye merry, gentlemen
Let nothing you dismay
Remember, Christ, our Saviour Was born on Christmas day
To save us all from Satan’s power When we were gone astray
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
In Bethlehem, in Israel, This blessed Babe was born And laid within a manger Upon this blessed morn
The which His Mother Mary Did nothing take in scorn
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
From God our Heavenly Father
A blessed Angel came; And unto certain Shepherds
VegMin Learning Society celebra tes the spirit of learning and gro wth. This holiday season, let’s cherish the gift of kno wledge and the jo y of shared experiences. The staff and board extend warm wishes to you and your loved ones for a festive season!
Brought tidings of the same: How that in Bethlehem was born
The Son of God by Name.
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
“Fear not then,” said the Angel, “Let nothing you affright, This day is born a Saviour
Of a pure Virgin bright, To free all those who trust in Him
From Satan’s power and might.”
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
The shepherds at those tidings
Rejoiced much in mind, And left their flocks a-feeding
In tempest, storm and wind: And went to Bethlehem straightway
The Son of God to find.
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
And when they came to Bethlehem Where our dear Saviour lay, They found Him in a manger, Where oxen feed on hay; His Mother Mary kneeling down, Unto the Lord did pray.
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
Now to the Lord sing praises, All you within this place, And with true love and brotherhood
Each other now embrace; This holy tide of Christmas
All other doth deface.
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
O LITTLE TOWN OF BETHLEHEM
O little town of Bethlehem
How still we see thee lie Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light
The hopes and fears of all the years Are met in thee tonight
For Christ is born of Mary And gathered all above
While mortals sleep, the angels keep Their watch of wondering love O morning stars together
Proclaim the holy birth And praises sing to God the King And Peace to men on earth
How silently, how silently The wondrous gift is given!
So God imparts to human hearts
The blessings of His heaven. No ear may hear His coming,
But in this world of sin, Where meek souls will receive him still, The dear Christ enters in.
O holy Child of Bethlehem
Descend to us, we pray Cast out our sin and enter in
Be born to us today
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell O come to us, abide with us
Our Lord Emmanuel
The sparkling Christmas choir
By Sarah Beauregard and Johannie Dufour
Translated by Jasmine Heesaker
This afternoon, the Snowy Dell choir is performing at the village Christmas show. Meredith, Adam and Marilyn are excited and a little stressed. They’ve been rehearsing a lot over the past few weeks, but this is the first time they’ll be on stage. Plus, the show is sold out, and the hall is packed!
The staging is particularly well done. A thick, soft white carpet that resembles snow covers the floor. When the children sing, big paper snowflakes fall from the ceiling. Everything went
perfectly at the dress rehearsal.
As soon as the show starts, the crowd applauds enthusiastically. One number follows another. First, there’s dancing, then a comedy bit and a magic show. The children in the choir are getting more and more excited, because it will soon be their turn! They’re singing three classics: Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town, Sleigh Ride and Let it Snow.
“Are you ready?” Meredith asks her friends.
“I think so…” replies Adam, hesitantly.

GRANDMA GOT RUN OVER BY A REINDEER
Grandma got run over by a reindeer. Walking home from our house Christmas eve. You can say there’s no such thing as Santa, But as for me and grandpa we believe. She’d been drinking too much eggnog, And we begged her not to go.
But she forgot her medication, and she Staggered out the door into the snow.
When we found her Christmas morning, At the scene of the attack, She had hoof-prints on her forehead, And incriminating Claus marks on her back.
Now we’re all so proud of grandpa, He’s been taking this so well.
See him in there watching football, Drinking root beer and Playing cards with Cousin Mel.
It’s not Christmas without Grandma, All the family’s dressed in black And we just can’t help but wonder: Should we open up her gifts, Or send them back? Send them back!!
Now the goose is on the table
And the pudding made of fig And the blue and silver candles
That would just have matched The hair on grandma’s wig.
I’ve warned all my Friends and neighbors
Better watch out for yourselves, They should never give a license
To a man who drives a sleigh And plays with elves
On the first day of Christmas, my true love sent to me A partridge in a pear tree.
On the second day of Christmas, my true love sent to me
Two turtle doves, And a partridge in a pear tree.
On the third day of Christmas, my true love sent to me
Three French hens, Two turtle doves, And a partridge in a pear tree.
On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me
Four calling birds, Three French hens, Two turtle doves, And a partridge in a pear tree.
On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me
Five golden rings, Four calling birds, Three French hens, Two turtle doves, And a partridge in a pear tree.
On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me
Six geese a-laying, Five golden rings, Four calling birds, Three French hens, Two turtle doves,
THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS
And a partridge in a pear tree.
On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to me
Seven swans a-swimming, Six geese a-laying, Five golden rings, Four calling birds, Three French hens, Two turtle doves, And a partridge in a pear tree.
On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me
Eight maids a-milking, Seven swans a-swimming, Six geese a-laying, Five golden rings, Four calling birds, Three French hens, Two turtle doves, And a partridge in a pear tree.
On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me
Nine ladies dancing, Eight maids a-milking, Seven swans a-swimming, Six geese a-laying, Five golden rings, Four calling birds, Three French hens, Two turtle doves, And a partridge in a pear tree.
On the tenth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me Ten lords a-leaping,
Nine ladies dancing, Eight maids a-milking, Seven swans a-swimming, Six geese a-laying, Five golden rings, Four calling birds, Three French hens, Two turtle doves, And a partridge in a pear tree.
On the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to me Eleven pipers piping, Ten lords a-leaping, Nine ladies dancing, Eight maids a-milking, Seven swans a-swimming, Six geese a-laying, Five golden rings, Four calling birds,
Three French hens, Two turtle doves, And a partridge in a pear tree.
On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me Twelve drummers drumming, Eleven pipers piping, Ten lords a-leaping, Nine ladies dancing, Eight maids a-milking, Seven swans a-swimming, Six geese a-laying, Five golden rings, Four calling birds, Three French hens, Two turtle doves, And a partridge in a pear tree!

Yonder shines the Infant light

Dashing through the snow
On a one-horse open sleigh, Over the fields we go, Laughing all the way; Bells on bob-tail ring, making spirits bright, What fun it is to ride and sing A sleighing song tonight
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride In a one-horse open sleigh
A day or two ago, I thought I’d take a ride, And soon Miss Fanny Bright Was seated by my side; The horse was lean and lank; Misfortune seemed his lot; He got into a drifted bank, And we, we got upsot.
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way! What fun it is to ride In a one-horse open sleigh.
A day or two ago, the story I must tell I went out on the snow
JINGLE BELLS
And on my back I fell; A gent was riding by In a one-horse open sleigh, He laughed as there I sprawling lie, But quickly drove away.
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way! What fun it is to ride In a one-horse open sleigh.
Now the ground is white
Go it while you’re young, Take the girls tonight And sing this sleighing song; Just get a bob-tailed bay two-forty as his speed Hitch him to an open sleigh And crack! you’ll take the lead. Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way! What fun it is to ride In a one-horse open sleigh.

WHITE CHRISTMAS
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know Where the treetops glisten And children listen To hear sleigh bells in the snow.
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write May your days be merry and bright And may all your Christmases be white.
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas

JOY TO THE WORLD
Joy to the world, the Lord is come! Let earth receive her King; Let every heart prepare Him room, And Heaven and nature sing, And Heaven and nature sing, And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.
Joy to the world, the Savior reigns! Let men their songs employ; While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains Repeat the sounding joy, Repeat the sounding joy, Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy. No more let sins and sorrows grow, Nor thorns infest the ground; He comes to make His blessings flow Far as the curse is found, Far as the curse is found, Far as, far as, the curse is found.
He rules the world with truth and grace, And makes the nations prove The glories of His righteousness, And wonders of His love, And wonders of His love, And wonders, wonders, of His love.
A CHRISTMAS CAROL
Christmas time is here, by golly
Disapproval would be folly
Deck the halls with hunks of holly
Fill the cup and don’t say when
Kill the turkeys, ducks and chickens
Mix the punch, drag out the Dickens
Even though the prospect sickens Brother, here we go again
On Christmas Day you can’t get sore Your fellow man you must adore
There’s time to rob him all the more The other three hundred and sixty-four
Relations, sparing no expense, ‘ll
Send some useless old utensil Or a matching pen and pencil
(“Just the thing I need, how nice!”)
It doesn’t matter how sincere it is Nor how heart felt the spirit
Sentiment will not endear it
What’s important is the price
Hark, the Herald Tribune sings Advertising wondrous things God rest ye merry merchants May ye make the Yuletide pay Angels we have heard on high Tell us to go out and - buy!
So let the raucous sleighbells jingle Hail our dear old friend Kriss Kringle
Driving his reindeer across the sky
Don’t stand underneath when they fly by
(Spoken)
Actually I did rather well myself, this last Christmas. The nicest present I received was a gift certificate “Good at any hospital for a lobotomy”... rather thoughtful.
An unexpected gift for Grammie
By Sarah Beauregard and Johannie Dufour Translated by Jasmine Heesaker
Snowy Dell is home to a magnificent nature park where young and old alike can enjoy countless winter activities. The villagers can try out ice skating, skiing, snowshoeing and more. There’s something for everyone! One of the main attractions is the pretty chalet. Villagers use it to warm up, read, play and enjoy other indoor activities.
Little Sally has reserved the chalet for the day to run a pop-up boutique. She wants to raise enough money to buy a Christmas

present for her grandmother, Francesca, whom she adores. She’s brought everything she needs to make hot chocolate and baked cookies to sell to park visitors.
The gift is rather expensive — it’s a snowmobile helmet. Francesca misplaced her old helmet the last time she moved. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have enough money to buy a new one. She’s sad she won’t be able to enjoy her favourite pastime this winter. Sally knows she’ll have to sell a lot of cookies and hot chocolate to reach her goal. However, she’s highly motivated! She happily calls out to passers-by.
“Who wants to have a treat and do a good deed at the same time?” she asks with a big smile.
People approach her, their curiosity piqued. Sally explains why she opened her pop-up shop. Touched by her story, the visitors are generous. They also promise not to reveal her secret project to her grandmother. After all, everyone in Snowy Dell knows Francesca!
Sally’s pop-up boutique is a resounding success — it’s beyond her wildest dreams! At the end of the day, she counts all the money she made. It’s more than enough to buy the snowmobile helmet!
On Christmas Eve, Francesca unwraps the gift from her grand-
LET IT SNOW!
Oh, the weather outside is frightful, But the fire is so delightful, And since we’ve no place to go, Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
It doesn’t show signs of stopping, And I brought some corn for popping; The lights are turned way down low, Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
When we finally say good night, How I’ll hate going out in the storm; But if you really hold me tight, All the way home I’ll be warm.
The fire is slowly dying, And, my dear, we’re still good-bye-ing, But as long as you love me so. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS
from the film Meet Me In St. Louis Hugh Martin, Ralph Blane 1943
Have yourself a merry little Christmas, Let your heart be light From now on, our troubles will be out of sight Have yourself a merry little Christmas, Make the Yule-tide gay, From now on, our troubles will be miles away.
Here we are as in olden days, happy golden days of yore. Faithful friends who are dear to us gather near to us once more. Through the years we all will be together If the Fates allow Hang a shining star upon the highest bough. And have yourself a merry little Christmas now.

“Oh, thank you, Sally, you’re going to make me cry!” she says, taking the helmet out of its box.
“Merry Christmas, Grammie! Think of me when you go snowmobiling,” she replies, giving her a BIG hug.

SILENT NIGHT
Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace
Silent night, holy night! Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ, the Saviour is born
Christ, the Saviour is born
Silent night, holy night
Son of God, love’s pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth “
WHAT CHILD IS THIS
What child is this, who, laid to rest, On Mary’s lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet, While shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the King, Whom shepherds guard and angels sing: Haste, haste to bring Him laud, The babe, the son of Mary.
Why lies He in such mean estate, Where ox and donkeys are feeding?
Good Christians, fear, for sinners here
The silent Word is pleading. Nails, spears shall pierce him through, the cross he bore for me, for you.
Hail, hail the Word made flesh, the Babe, the Son of Mary. So bring him incense, gold, and myrrh, Come, peasant, king, to own him. The King of kings salvation brings, Let loving hearts enthrone him. Raise, raise a song on high, The virgin sings her lullaby Joy, joy for Christ is born, The babe, the Son of Mary.
This, this is Christ the King, Whom shepherds guard and angels sing: Haste, haste to bring Him laud, The babe, the son of Mary.
Christmas carols can be heard far and wide from the end of November through Christmas Day. “The 12 Days of Christmas” is one of the most recognizable carols, and for good reason, as the popular song can trace its history back several centuries. Researchers have traced the earliest printed version of the poem on which the song is based all the way back to 1780. That’s three years before the signing of the Treaty of Paris, which officially ended the American Revolutionary War. The song has long been suspected to have been a way for
DID YOU KNOW? Dear Santa...
Catholics in Britain to teach their children the catechism, as the 1700s was a controversial period for Catholicism in the country. However, no documentary evidence exists in support of that theory, and many historians feel it is inaccurate. Others indicate that, while 1780 is likely the first time the poem was printed, the poem is likely much older than that, with origins potentially in France or Scotland. What is known is that the version many people recognize today, namely in song form, can be traced to the early twentieth century, when English singer and composer Frederic Austin first popularized the melody for the song. Austin performed that version of the song beginning in 1905, and it was first published in 1909

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed, The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head. The stars in the sky looked down where he lay, The little Lord Jesus asleep in the hay.

Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay Close by me forever, and love me, I pray.
Bless all the dear children in thy tender care, And take us to heaven, to live with Thee there.

A BABY JUST
The season is upon us now A time for gifts and giving And as the year draws to its close I think about my living
The Christmas time when I was young, The magic and the wonder, But colors dull and candles dim, And dark my standing under
O little Zachary, shining light You’ve set my soul to dreaming You’ve given back my joy in life And filled me with new meaning
A Savior King was born that day, A baby just like you, And as the Magi came with gifts, I come with my gift too
That peace on Earth fills up your time, That brotherhood surrounds you. That you may know the warmth of love, And wrap it all around you
COLOR ME
It’s just a wish, a dream I’m told From days when I was young
Merry Christmas, little Zachary
Merry Christmas, everyone
Merry Christmas, little Zachary
Merry Christmas, everyone

ROCKING AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE
Rocking around the Christmas tree
At the Christmas party hop
Mistletoe hung where you can see
Every couple tries to stop
Rocking around the Christmas tree, Let the Christmas spirit ring
Later we’ll have some pumpkin pie
And we’ll do some caroling.
You will get a sentimental
Feeling when you hear
Voices singing let’s be jolly,
Deck the halls with boughs of holly
Rocking around the Christmas tree, Have a happy holiday
Everyone dancing merrily
In the new old-fashioned way
JINGLE BELL ROCK
Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bells swing and jingle bells ring
Snowing and blowing up bushels of fun
Now the jingle hop has begun
Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bells chime in jingle bell time
Dancing and prancing in Jingle Bell Square
In the frosty air.
What a bright time, it’s the right time
To rock the night away
Jingle bell time is a swell time
To go riding in a one-horse sleigh
Giddy-up jingle horse, pick up your feet
Jingle around the clock
Mix and a-mingle in the jingling beat
That’s the jingle bell,
That’s the jingle bell,
That’s the jingle bell rock.

Holiday pet hazards to look out for
Keep your four-legged friend safe this holiday season by keeping hazardous products out of paw’s reach. What’s good for you isn’t necessarily good for your dog or cat. Many popular holiday foods are actually quite toxic for animals. Keep this list of dangerous ingredients handy while you cook for the humans around the table.
• Garlic and onions
• Alcohol
• Peanuts and tree nuts
• Coffee, tea and soft drinks
• Candy
• Mushrooms
• Chocolate
• Peach and nectarine pits
• Bones and fats
• Grapes and raisins
To avoid unfortunate events over the holiday season,
keep your pet on its regular diet and away from harmful foods. You may also want to warn your guests not to feed your animals any “treats” under the assumption that this is a harmless gesture.
Plants
Traditional Christmas plants, such as holly, mistletoe and poinsettias, as well as potpourri can be very attractive to cats and dogs. Keep them out of reach of your pets.
Decorations
Holiday decorations are another source of potential danger for your pets. Tinsel, glass ornaments, candles, stringed lights and unstable Christmas trees are a few household hazards to be careful of.

A MARSHMALLOW WORLD
It’s a marshmallow world in the winter, When the snow comes to cover the ground, It’s the time for play, it’s a whipped cream day, I wait for it all year round.
Those are marshmallow clouds being friendly, In the arms of the evergreen trees, And the sun is red like a pumpkin head, It’s shining so your nose won’t freeze.
The world is your snowball, see how it grows, That’s how it goes, whenever it snows, The world is your snowball just for a song, Get out and roll it along.
It’s a yum-yummy world made for sweethearts, Take a walk with your favourite girl, It’s a sugar date, what if spring is late, In winter, it’s a marshmallow world.

A few minutes before going on stage, everyone checks their outfits and picks up their songbooks. Turning to the first page of his book, Adam opens his eyes and mouth wide.
“You guys! This isn’t the right songbook,” he says, panicking. “It’s all written in French! I’ll never be able to sing without the words!”
Unfortunately, the children don’t have time to search backstage for a songbook written in English. The announcer is already introducing them!
“Have faith in yourself, Adam,” whispers Meredith. “You know the songs by heart.”
“Yes, I’m sure everything will be fine,” adds Marilyn.
The girls are right. Adam has sung the songs dozens of times and easily remembers them by heart. No one would guess he isn’t reading the lyrics from his songbook!
Enhanced by the snowflakes falling from the ceiling, their number is a great success. Returning backstage as friends and family applaud their efforts, the children make a promise to each other to perform again next year!
ANGELS WE HAVE HEARD ON HIGH
Angels we have heard on high, Sweetly singing o’er the plains And the mountains in reply Echoing their joyous strains. Gloria...
Chorus: Gloria, In Excelsius Deo
Shepherd why this jubilee, Why your joyous strains prolong What the gladsome tidings be, Which inspire your heavenly song?
Come to Bethlehem and see, Him whose birth the angels sing Come adore on bended knee, Christ the Lord the newborn king.
See him in a manger laid, Whom the choirs of angels praise Mary, Joseph, lend your aid, While our hearts in love we raise.

Hark! how the bells
Sweet silver bells
All seem to say, “Throw cares away.”
Christmas is here
Bringing good cheer
To young and old
Meek and the bold
Ding, dong, ding, dong
That is their song
With joyful ring
All caroling
One seems to hear
Words of good cheer
From ev’rywhere
Filling the air
CAROL OF THE BELLS
Oh how they pound,
Raising the sound, O’er hill and dale, Telling their tale, Gaily they ring
While people sing
Songs of good cheer
Christmas is here
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas
On, on they send
On without end
Their joyful tone
To ev’ry home
[Repeat from the beginning]
Ding, dong, ding, dong
Spectators for everybody
By Sarah Beauregard and Johannie Dufour Translated by Jasmine Heesaker
It’s impossible to be bored in Snowy Dell during the holiday season! Today, the children are getting ready to perform a play at the famous Christmas Festival. In the nature park chalet, Lily slips into her tree costume, Alexa dons her elf outfit and Freddie puts on his red-nosed reindeer attire.
“My whole family’s here,” exclaims the beaming boy. “Even my cousins who live far away!”
“That’s great!” says Lily. “I’ve got a few relatives coming to see me too.”
“You’re lucky. I don’t have anyone. Both my parents are working, as usual,” replies Alexa, shrugging her shoulders.
Alexa’s father is a nurse, and her mother is a firefighter. They often work evenings, nights, weekends and even holidays! They must make sacrifices, like missing important events, to keep the

villagers of Snowy Dell safe and healthy.
“Sorry, I completely forgot about your parents,” says Freddie sheepishly.
“No need to be sorry,” replies Alexa. “That’s life. And you know what? Even if I’m a little disappointed, I’m not angry. I’m proud of them. They’re like superheroes!”
“That’s so true!” agrees Lily.
The play is about to start. Freddie looks out at the audience, discreetly glancing out of the chalet window.
“But… aren’t those your parents there, Alexa, in the front row?” the boy exclaims.
Without quite believing it, she leans in close to her friend. Yes, those are her parents! Surprised, moved and full of energy, Alexa gives the best performance of her life. The play, which is set in the North Pole, is very funny and the audience laughs with joy!
At the end of the play, Alexa runs to her mom and dad with a huge smile on her face. After congratulating her, they explain that they wanted to surprise her. They’d organized a long time ago to have their colleagues fill in for them at work.
“Tell them a big THANK YOU and give them a GIANT hug from me!” exclaims the little girl, hugging her parents.

I SAW MOMMY KISSING
SANTA CLAUS
I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus Underneath the mistletoe last night. She didn’t see me creep Down the stairs to have a peep; She thought that I was tucked Up in my bedroom fast asleep. Then, I saw Mommy tickle Santa Claus Underneath his beard so snowy white; Oh, what a laugh it would have been If Daddy had only seen Mommy kissing Santa Claus last night.
A Christmas movie that gives you wings
By Sarah Beauregard and Johannie Dufour Translated by Jasmine Heesaker
It’s between Christmas and New Year’s Day, and Larry, Flora and Charlotte have decided to get together for a movie night. Comfortably seated in Larry’s living room, the three students from Snowy Dell Elementary School settle on watching the animated film Buddy the Snowman.
It’s the story of a gentle, magical snowman who comes to life at night to secretly help his neighbours. The movie follows him as he does lots of good deeds, and it’s heartwarming to see how the people react the next morning when they discover his acts of kindness. By the end of the movie, the three friends are chatting away.
“When Buddy the Snowman cleaned up the old man’s workshop,

NO ROOM AT THE INN
No beautiful chamber, no soft cradle bed, No place but a manger, nowhere for His head; No praises of gladness, no thought of their sin, No glory but sadness, no room in the inn.
Refrain
No room, no room, for Jesus, O give Him welcome free, Lest you should hear at Heaven’s gate, “There is no room for thee.”
No sweet consecration, no seeking His part, No humiliation, no place in the heart; No thought of the Savior, no sorrow for sin, No prayer for His favor, no room in the inn.
Refrain
No one to receive Him, no welcome while here, No balm to relieve Him, no staff but a spear; No seeking His treasure, no weeping for sin, No doing His pleasure, no room in the inn.

ON CHRISTMAS MORNING
Old December’s
Here at last Time
For celebration
Christmas present Christmas past
Tumble down Together
Like the snow
What a show
Now the snowman
Someone made Is melting By the road side
On the wind
A serenade
Children’s voices
Singing I believe I believe in us
I believe
Chorus:
On Christmas morning
You awaken With a smile
You hold me
In your arms
We watch The snowflakes fly And then you love me And I realize How sweet love can be All the memories
Coming back again
Each year
On Christmas morning
Sentimental melodies
Surround me
Like an old friend She spent the winter
Here with me
Silently we watched The season change And they change So fast And fade away
it reminded me of my neighbour across the street. I saw him clearing snow from his yard the other day. He was red in the face and out of breath.” says Larry.
“Yes, I know him, he was our bus driver last year. He’s so nice.” adds Flora.
“I’ve got an idea. Why don’t we do what Buddy the Snowman did? We could use our days off to make other people happy.” suggests Charlotte.
“I’m totally up for it. And we wouldn’t have to sneak around at night, we could just tell people that it keeps us busy and makes us happy,” adds Larry.
“Oh yes, and we could put on our Santa hats!” exclaims Flora, jumping up and down.
The very next day, the children begin their “good deeds tour.” First, they clear snow from Larry’s neighbour’s house. On the second day, they walk Charlotte’s grandmother’s dog because the sidewalks are too slippery for her. Finally, they take homemade cookies to Flora’s neighbours, the Rodriguezes. They’ve just adopted an adorable baby who keeps them up all night.
Everyone is grateful and says a big “THANK YOU” to the children. They’re thrilled to have made people happy while having fun, and they promise to do it again next year.
