If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind golfing experience filled with the most knowledgeable and hospitable staff look no further than Riverview Golf Course near Mannville.

Service is second to none and Manager Kent Staden’s natural kindness and courtesy that he extends to one and all is the perfect combination for a terrific time at the golf course.

“People say it’s so nice just to get out and do something,” said Staden. With COVID-19 he’s seen an increase in the number of families who’ve come to try their hand at the game. “We’ve seen a sharp increase in players between 12 and 18 years of age. Normally we have 10 golfers in that age range, but now we are at 50 golfers!”

Staden’s excited about that because, “That’s the future of our game.” He said socialization is more important than the score. “That’s one of our successes.”

Another factor in the club’s success is being more laid back when it comes to protocols and attire, focusing more on the experience than following all of the strict rules. Staden said most courses will not allow riders on the course with golfers, but he does allow that, and always gives riders a putter and ball to try out on one of the greens if they are so inclined.

One of the advantages Riverview has over other courses is its campground, which features spacious campsites that are 120 feet long and 25 feet wide and are separated with large poplar trees for privacy, although folks generally love to visit with each other. More than two-thirds of the campsites are occupied by seasonal campers.

“They come from all over,” said Staden, listing off such places as Calgary, Wainwright, Lloydminster, St. Paul, Edmonton, and Stony Plan to name a few. They have over 50 campsites and has room to expand to accommodate 40 more campsites.

There are a few nature trails, and Staden said, when it’s not busy, guests can take walks along the golf course. Nestled in the valley of the Vermilion River there are so many different vistas to enjoy.

Often people can be heard commenting, “When you go to Mannville and take a few extra golf balls!”

Staden said they are not strict when it comes to marshalling which makes people relax and enjoy the experience even more. It’s all about the experienceat Riverview Golf Course and it’s the staff who make the place extra special.
