Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville MLA Jackie Armstrong-Homeniuk was the special story time reader at the Vegreville Centennial Library recently.

Homeniuk read the books, ‘Don’t Cut My Hair’ by Hans Wilhelm, ‘Seeing Red’ by Robert Munsch, and ‘Look at Me’ by Robert Munsch. While she read the stories, Homeniuk listened well to the children’s comments and answered their questions.

Armstrong-Homeniuk said she wanted to read to the children because of the importance of literacy and to try and coincide her talk with Family Literacy Day. “Literacy is important because literacy and numeracy are skills we obviously need for life and it is important to read to your children and to read to them everyday.”

After this, the library had some crafts available for the children to participate in.
