Kalyna Family Resource Network-Vegreville (KFRN-V) presented their first session for the season of Friend Den program on November 8.
KFRN-V partnered with Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) for this program. There are 10 children registered in this program and five kids attended the first session.
Spoke Program Facilitator for KFRN-V, Litania Sankey said they wanted to keep the participants at 10 kids because smaller groups gives children more time with their friends and more one-to-one attention.
“Friend Den is a program that is aimed at helping kids with social skills and learning how to navigate those relationships and friendships. They learned what it is to be a good friend and what a good friend is. They learned about sharing and kindness, and empathy and all of those things that lead into being a good friend.
Each week has a different theme. Today’s theme was our introduction one on how to be a good friend. We also had time for free play and did a craft where we made a hand circle craft to show how everyone is united. The children had a snack time and had a story read to them too.
