Stefan went on to say that this year’s theme takes a page out of Terry’s book. In 1980, Terry Fox began his journey across Canada on the Marathon of Hope. Whether he had hundreds of people cheering him on or was alone on the road, Terry ran for 143 days straight. He persevered through snow, rain, wind and heat; no matter the journey, no matter the odds, ‘No Matter What’.

Participant Tayler Ponich mentioned that she was running this year to help to raise funds and start a family tradition. “I did this as a kid and it is fun to do it with my kids.”

Heather Kokotyn expressed that she was participating in honour of her father who passed away from lung cancer. “Also, I am doing this for my nana who passed away from breast cancer and a family friend who died of leukemia this past spring.”
