The recently released “State of the Industry Report” by Decorex, which featured interviews with various players in the local décor, design, and interiors industry, conveyed a clear message: sustainability is increasingly influencing creative professionals in their business practices. Key areas of focus include the use of recycled materials, local production, and sourcing to reduce carbon footprint. Design companies are acknowledging their role in positively influencing consumer choices by educating them about conscious consumption. Bielle Bellingham, the Creative Director of Decorex Africa, emphasizes that the industry is taking an active stance, no longer allowing change to happen passively, but instead actively choosing the changes they wish to see.
Decorex 2023 will feature seven exhibitors who will showcase their sustainable visions: No Waste, Natural Materials, Handcrafted, Chemical-Free, Long Lasting, Locally Sourced, and Environmentally Conscious. The event will take place in Cape Town from 22- 25 June 2023 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).
