Ingredients for Sugar Cookies 1 cup unsalted butter softened to room temperature (226g) 1 cup sugar (200g) 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract² 1 large egg 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour (315g) ¾ teaspoon baking powder ¾ teaspoon salt
Sugar Cookies 1. Combine butter and sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer (or in a large bowl and use an electric hand mixer) and beat until creamy and well-combined. 2. Add egg and vanilla extract and beat until completely combined. 3. In a separate, medium-sized bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. 4. Gradually add dry ingredients into wet until completely combined. 5. Lay out a large piece of plastic wrap and transfer approximately half of the dough onto the wrap (dough will be quite sticky at this point, that's OK!) 6. Cover with clear wrap and mold into a disk. Repeat with remaining cookie dough in another piece of cling wrap. Transfer dough to refrigerator and chill for at least 2-3 hours3 Once dough has finished chilling, preheat oven to 350F (175C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside. 7. Generously dust a clean surface with flour and deposit one chilled cookie dough disk onto the surface. Lightly flour the dough and roll out to ⅛" (for thinner, crispier cookies) or ¼" (for thicker, softer cookies). Continue to add flour as needed both on top of and beneath the dough so that it doesn't stick. 8. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and use a spatula to transfer shapes to prepared baking sheet. 9. Bake on 350F (175C) for 9-10 minutes5, or until edges just begin to turn lightly golden brown. 10. Allow cookies to cool completely on cookie sheet before moving and frosting.

1. Invest in a standing desk.
This will help alleviate lower back or hip pain and promote better health. But this doesn’t mean you should just stand all day. Move around your house! Make sure to find times to sit throughout the day, and push your shoulders back to ensure that you are sitting with good posture. Move around and use different locations throughout your home to inspire creativity and encourage different ergonomic positions.

5. Transfer your commute time to intentional rest
time. John Fitch & Max Frenzel, co-authors of Time Off Book (out in May) suggest that we calculate the amount of time we normally have to commute and translate that time to our "rest" allowance. This is time for us to detach from our work. Instead of starting our day off by stressing out about getting somewhere on time, invest that time into either a relaxing ritual that gets you to a calm and clea r state of mind or invest it into winding down your day so that you don't form a habit of working into the night. The authors explain how this commute time can be a time to set an intentional container for separating work and leisure at home.
4. Apply the ROWE mindset. Tim Jones, CEO of Precision Nutrition, an online nutrition and healthy lifestyle coaching and certification company, applies the ROWE mindset. ROWE stands for results-only work environment, and Jones encourages it because it helps remove concerns managers may have around employee productivity. We don't track hours or care about how you do your work, as long as you're getting the results," Jones said. "By focusing on goals and metrics, the old-school idea of how much time was spent sitting at a desk quickly goes out the door.
