Janet Natalia Winter
Everything we do, even a gesture as small as a well-timed smile, can have a ripple effect. When we are passionate about what we do, those ripples become waves and can touch everyone around us.

Janet “Natalia” Winter made waves. A passionate runner who embodied our values, Natalia became an integral part of our OC Marathon family. She ran the OC Marathon or Half Marathon every year from 2009 to 2019, including as a pacer. She inspired young kids to run and be fit as a volunteer Coach for Kids Run the OC. She was also a proud OC Marathon ambassador, working tirelessly to encourage people to join the race.

Natalia was a frequent fixture at the OC Marathon office, where she helped with race planning and organizing. Always willing to “pitch in” and help, it was not uncommon to find her in the warehouse counting safety pins or tagging merchandise. Natalia’s dedication to our sport and our community inspired many, and touched us all.
One day after a run, Natalia didn't feel right and went to the doctor. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon cancer. Never one to run from a fight, Natalia fought cancer every day with the same resilience and bravery on her first day as on her last. She never gave up. She never stopped living the life that she wanted. She did more, saw more, experienced more, and loved more than most would in twice that time. Natalia truly lived. Natalia passed June 2nd of 2022.
Even before she was running marathons, Natalia was blazing trails She was the first girl in CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) on an all-boys wrestling team at Woodbridge High School. Natalia inspired other girls to believe in themselves and to accomplish more (even if that “more” was wrestling the boys).
Above all, Natalia loved her family. She was a proud mother of two amazing children, Mason Hunter and Madison Faith, and a true companion to her husband, Mitch Winter.
Natalia graduated from Woodbridge High School. A proud Delta Gamma, she earned a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree from Chapman University.
This year, during the 19th annual SDCCU OC Running Festival, a large group of Natalia’s friends and family will be participating in the various weekend events in her honor. In recognition of her years of service to our organization and the OC Marathon Foundation, the OC Marathon is honored to present the 2023 “Making Waves” Award to Janet Natalia Winter.

Kia has achieved an outstanding result in this year's World Car Awards, with the Kia EV6 GT being crowned the 2023 World Performance Car.
Announced at an awards ceremony during the New York International Auto Show, the recognition came from a jury of 100 distinguished international automotive journalists representing 32 countries.

Having evaluated a broad range of vehicles from around the world, the judges’ recognition of Kia’s vehicles serves as further validation of the brand’s dedication to producing innovative mobility solutions that benefit society, in line with its ‘Movement That Inspires’ mindset.
Speaking of the award, President and CEO of Kia Corporation Ho Sung Song said: “To be recognized in this way by the World Car Awards’ judges is a tremendous honor. As Kia transforms to become a world-leading sustainable solutions provider, we are leaving no stone unturned to create vehicles which deliver exceptional practicality while also inspiring customers through their ingenuity, technology, and design. This latest prestigious accolade provides further confirmation of the success of our strategy.”
Winning the coveted 2023 World Performance Car, the Kia EV6 GT builds on the exceptional offering of the standard model, which has already been awarded the 2022 Car of the Year and the 2023 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year titles, in addition to other distinguished accolades.

With a combined power output of 430 kW (585 PS), enabling a 3.5-second 0-100km/h acceleration time and a top speed of 260 km/h, the all-electric EV6 GT’s long-range capability, spacious interior, and sophisticated design saw it beat stiff competition from more traditional petrol-powered sports cars.
The design of the EV6 GT is in keeping with Kia’s new brand direction, which emphasizes that movement is at the genesis of human development, enabling people to see new places, build new relationships, and have new experiences. Kia seeks to empower customers to make these connections by providing exciting products, innovative in-car spaces, and convenient services that inspire customers and free time for them to pursue the activities that they enjoy most.
