Black just doesn’t cut it on the coat front anymore coats trenches in a rainbow of colors. With headto-toe spots roaring, leopard print earned its status as “the new neutral.” Fashion may not be a contact sport, but designers showed plenty of soft padding for pre-fall. Quilted pieces materialized.Tartan train. Madness for plaid. Pre-fall is sweater weather, and the sweater of choice this season is the turtleneck. Exaggerated shapes and unexpected volumes are feeling fresh again.

VISUALIZATION - STREET ART
Taking in consideration that DKNY collections scream all “urban style”, that the designer herself named her Fall 2013 collection “Street Chic” and moreover the fact that the inspiration is used to develop an extention of her last collection as A/W 13/14, the question behing the inspiration is “What is literally chic about the streets?” The main source of finding the answers for this project was Herning Citi, Denmark. The following monuments stating for public art as beying either contemporary monuments, architectural or town planning (byplanlægning), they have been used for form tracing in the upcoming collection. Most of the obvious forms are gheometrical, more sharp forms than round and soft are present. When placed one next to eachother, gives endless posibilities in finding the silhouettes relevant to the season’s trends but also to DKNY’s design DNA - playful.

The other inspiration for the collection is also the noisy and messy side of the street city art - grafitti. The source of the pictures is once again Herning, Denmark. Here are illustrated different moods of the city’s beliefs, that gives free pass to the “naughty” talented youth. The idea stands for nonconformity, freedom of speach, a touch of illigal which makes the message powerfull. Moreover it has a deep resemblance to fashion by the need of expressing a passion throught sending a message, which is always a pure artists mission. When thinking at DKNY using seasonal trend related prints, other prints can be used as well for campains, or simply to make the brand easlily be reckon, as the DKNY label for example. The theory of prints stands for camouflage - jungle/animal prints(DKNY). Thinking of the “city jungle”, using graffiti for prints, stands for urban camouflage. This inspiration will be mostly used for extending the prints idea on the collections pieces, for example, as in the following picture:
