HOW IT WORKS
ENSURING A FAIR AND ACCURATE VOTE
HOW IT WORKS BALLOT •
Each voter ballot has a carbonless copy
•
Both the carbonless copy and the voter ballot have a common serial number
38796-2 38796-2
HOW IT WORKS Ballot Copy • •
Your Copy
The top copy is yours to keep The bottom copy is retained by the Board of Elections
38796-2
Ballot Election Copy 38796-2
HOW IT WORKS •
Before you leave the voting location an authentication code will be stamped on your ballot
•
The Authentication code is generated by an algorithm and by reading the serial number.
•
Each voting location has a different algorithm known only to the Secretary of State Authentication code

HOW IT WORKS •
The day after you vote your local Board Of Elections (BOE) will post a record of each serial number on the Secretary of State website and on the local BOE website.
•
You can lookup your serial number on your copy of your ballot to make sure your vote was tallied correctly
HOW IT WORKS •
Additionally, the local BOE will graphically map everyone who has voted by precinct.
•
This way a person can tell if someone else is claiming to live on their property and citizen watchdogs can see if persons are registering on empty lots
HOW IT WORKS •
If your ballot was tallied incorrectly you may contest the count of the election before it is certified.
•
To challenge the count you need your state issued identification and you need your ballot copy with the proper authentication code
