Pigeons now live in the ruins of the old island houses with remnants of lofty and limited interiors, an expression of the desire of people— during the times of the rich captains, for a refined touch to life, and of their fears. They live, those beautiful fears, today, and abruptly take off with a strong flap of the wings through the lack of a roof into the free sky.
