DAWN FRENCH 30 Million Minutes
WED 30 JULY – SAT 2 AUGUST 7.30PM Dawn French, the Queen of British comedy, award-winning actor, best-selling novelist and all round very funny lady is to star on stage in her new show 30 Million Minutes. The show will consist of various delights and riches, with the odd irksome tribulation thrown in, as Dawn takes you through the various lessons life has taught her, and the things she knows for sure. With a sharp eye for comic detail and a wicked ear for the absurdities of life, the comedian shares how she has misguidedly spent her whole life vigorously attempting to be a fully functioning female human.
Her extraordinary lack of willpower, combined with an enviable knack for nosey parking and showing off, has driven her to grapple with the big stuff of life in public. 30 million minutes of life in fact. That’s how long she’s been alive. It’s also worth coming if only to finally witness what size she actually is. Can we believe the stolen images of so many women’s magazines? What is the truth? Is she so unfeasibly large that she can hardly live? Or does she sleep in a matchbox? Marvel at how one woman can mercilessly murder so much chocolate, and yet remain so curiously slim…

PAUL NICHOLAS as
CRAZY MAX in
THU 11 – SAT 20 SEPTEMBER Blockbuster The Musical, featuring the chart-busting hits of the legendary song-writing team Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman, who dominated the pop world in the 70s and 80s, is to get its world premiere at The Orchard Theatre, Dartford, with Paul Nicholas as Crazy Max. Blockbuster The Musical, follows the global success of Mamma Mia and We Will Rock You and features classic hits by Sweet, Suzi Quatro, Smokie, Tina Turner and Mud. The book is by David Soames who co-wrote the musical ‘Time’ for Cliff Richard that ran for two years in the West End at the Dominion Theatre. It’s 2014 and Mickey Block, a young busker singing in London’s Soho, is being pursued by a loan shark and takes refuge in Crazy Max’s Retro Record Shop. Soon, Max, a mystical figure, discovers Mickey’s problems and tells him he can turn his life around by performing two selfless deeds within seven days. Before he knows it he finds himself back in 1975. Luckily he is befriended by Carol, Steve and Teresa. However, problems arise when Steve tells Mickey that he is about to be arrested for selling stolen cameras and Teresa is seriously injured in an Anti-Vietnam demonstration. Mickey now realises his fate; can he help Teresa, the girl he loves, pull through and out of her coma? Can he help Steve and stop the police arresting him? Mickey then remembers Max’s words of ‘Two Good Deeds’...Will Mickey fulfil his destiny and turn his life around or will time run out and he’ll find himself back unchanged in 2014?

HENNING WEHN
Unanimously acclaimed by the critics, The Woman in Black combines the power and intensity of live theatre with a cinematic quality inspired by the world of film noir. The formula delivers an evening of unremitting drama, transporting the audience into a terrifying and ghostly world.
After more than a decade in Britain, the German comedy ambassador has ‘groan’ to like puns...though he still couldn’t eat a whole one. As Henning’s assimilation is not yet complete he hasn’t lost his sense of Westphalian wonderment at the foibles of British society. Expect a crash course in personal accountability. Wunderbar!
A lawyer engages a sceptical young actor to help him tell his terrifying story and exorcise the fear that grips his soul. It all begins innocently enough, but as they reach further into his darkest memories the borders between make-believe and reality begin to blur and the flesh begins to creep...

THANK YOU FOR HELPING
GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL
Since October 2010 HQ Theatres, alongside its sister company Qdos Entertainment, has been raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital’s Theatres for Theatres Appeal. To date we have raised over £500,000 for the appeal which aims to build new state-of-the-art operating theatres at the hospital, which treats very sick children from across the UK. This money has been raised through the generosity of our audiences and the staff of The Orchard Theatre who have taken part in various fund-raising events and activities. We will continue to support the Theatres for Theatres Appeal and your on-going support is greatly appreciated. On behalf of Great Ormond Street Hospital, a huge thank you. ©2007 Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (©2008 Theatres for Theatres) Registered charity no. 23582
