MELON MELA!
Melons and summer make for the perfect combination! Our watermelons and musk melons are grown without the use of any chemical pesticides or fertilizers. Only sustainable, organic farming practices are used to cultivate them. They are ripened naturally, without the use of any chemicals. So when you choose melons from The Organic World, you get 100% sweetness, taste and nutrition without any chemicals!
WATERMELONS “When one has tasted it, he knows what the angels eat” declared Mark Twain about watermelons. Today’s watermelons are different in taste and appearance from their 5000-year-old Wild Sudanese ancestors, whose flesh was light green to white in colour and not very sweet to taste. Centuries of domestic cultivation have resulted in the sweet tasting, juicy, red fleshy fruit that we are familiar with today. Watermelons were initially cultivated as desert fruits, prized for their water content. Today it is a must-have fruit in the summers, though it is now available almost all through the year. Watermelons are around 90% water, which is great for staying hydrated in the summers. They also provide some amount of fibre and contain antioxidants. Simply cut into cubes and relish their juicy sweetness as is, make into a juice, use in salads, as part of a fruit chaat or even a granita!
WATERMELON AND FETA SALAD You can’t get more light, flavourful and fresh than this dish! Chunks of watermelon are tossed lightly with feta cheese – the sweetness of the firm, juicy fruit offering the perfect foil to the sharp taste of crumbly feta. Season with salt, coarsely ground pepper, balsamic vinegar, a dash of lemon juice for a pinch of acidity and you have a crowd-pleaser on your hands. You could also toss in some basil leaves as well as rocket for added flavour and texture. MUSKMELON Muskmelons are native to Central Asia, originating in Persia and other surrounding areas on the coast. Their characteristic sweet, pale juicy flesh is renowned for its rich sweetness.

Some historians have said that Christopher Columbus carried the muskmelon seeds with him in the 15th century, contributing to the spread of the fruit. Muskmelons are rich in potassium, fibre, Vitamin C & A and good for digestion. Almost 90% of muskmelon is water, so they are a great source of sweet, juicy hydration! MUSKMELON COOLER Chop the muskmelon flesh in cubes and blend in a mixie. Add some jaggery or honey if you need any more sweetness. Top with a sprig of mint for a delicious, cooling drink!

Temperatures are rising, the sun is shining… this can only mean one thing – summer is here! And this is a season that can take a toll on any skin type – the pollution, humidity etc all affect the quality of skin and can lead to infection as well. Oily skin gets oilier and dry skin conditions can worsen. Here are a few skincare tips that can keep your skin (and you!) cool through the heat.
EXFOLIATE! Regular exfoliation is a must to keep your skin clean and prevent breakouts. Use gentle products. Not harsh scrubs on your face anybody around a couple of times a week. You can use ingredients from your kitchen like oats, besan, turmeric, egg white basil, rose water, multani etc or buy natural and organic scrubs with similar ingredients. MODIFY YOUR PRODUCTS While you may have been using thick lotions and cream in winter, it’s time to keep those away during summer as they can end up clogging your pores. Opt for fast absorbing light lotions and serums. Ideally, apply right after you shower to lock in the moisture. Water-based moisturizers work well for normal skin whereas you can opt for gelbased moisturizers for oily skin. DON’T FORGET SUNSCREEN This is a no brainer. Choose a sunscreen that offers UVA and UVB protection with a minimum SPF of 30. Apply liberally on your face and body. Apply at least 30 minutes before you head out. GO NATURAL Try and use natural ingredients to keep your skin refreshed. Whether it is multani mitti or sandalwood, a spray of hydrating rose water,

or lemon and tomato to remove tan! Always choose organic and natural variants. And don’t load up on the makeup. Try and keep the number of such products you use minimal and use organic or natural whenever possible. Let your skin breathe! STAY CLEAN Splash water on your face 2-3 times a day to refresh and remove any dirt or sweat that builds up during this season. If you are prone to prickly heat, try and add neem leaves to your bathwater. EAT COOL Make watermelons and cucumbers your best friends during this season! Oily, spicy food will not only make you feel sluggish, it could also adversely affect your skin. Also remember to stay hydrated – drink plenty of water, fresh fruit juices and coconut water. WEAR COOL Ditch the heavy synthetic and silk fabrics and opt for cool cottons and languid linens! They will allow your skin to breathe, go a long way in preventing sweat and body odour buildup, as well as problems like prickly heat and rashes.

At The Organic World, we offer a wide range of cookware and serve ware made from traditional materials like clay, soapstone, iron and more. Here is a quick lowdown on the benefits and care tips: What are the benefits of switching to a copper water bottle?
• Copper releases ions into the water, which is believed to lead to several health benefits • Helps in the absorption of iron • Good for heart health • Rich in antioxidants • Anti-inflammatory • Aids in digestion
Top tips to clean your copper water bottle
• Mix vinegar with salt; use it to clean the outside of the bottle with a soft cotton cloth • Rub the outside of the bottle with a mix of baking soda and lemon (or vinegar), rinse and wipe thoroughly • Dip a lemon half in some salt and simply rub the outside of the bottle to get it sparkly clean • Mix salt with lemon juice or vinegar, add a bit of water. Pour the mixture inside the bottle and shake it thoroughly (don’t forget to close the lid!). Rinse it with water and leave it to dry • Use tamarind! Wash it off thoroughly with water. • You can also use tamarind to clean the
inside of the bottle. Fill the bottle with a mix of tamarind and water, shake it thoroughly and then rinse with water and let it dry.
Using Clay Cookware For The First Time?
Here’s How You Need To Season It: 1. Immerse your cookware in water and allow it to soak for at least 6-8 hours 2. Use a soft cloth to wipe the utensils completely dry 3. Your cookware is ready to use 4. Remember: Always start cooking on a low flame and then gradually increase the temperature 5. Remember: Never add cold water/oil/gravy into earthen cookware that is already heated 6. Remember: Never use strong detergents to clean your utensil as the microporous clay can absorb traces of the detergent which can then leach into your food Shop now from a range of 100% natural, toxin-free cookware at The Organic World.
