Obituaries Susan Diane Sue Stoner, 69
Susan Diane (Sue) Stoner, 69, of Chili, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020. Sue was born in Peru, Indiana, Jan. 7, 1951, to Laura Frances (Alexandra) and Roscoe Eugene Hodson. She graduated from North Miami High School in 1969. Shortly after graduation, she briefly moved to the Seattle, Washington area to be with her husband who was training in the U.S. Army Reserves. After returning home, she lived out the rest of her days in Chili. She worked in many different capacities over her career including being a child-care worker at Whites Residential Services, clerical positions within the Miami County Courthouse including the Recorder’s office, in the administration office of Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester, and most recently as a Registrar for Dukes Memorial Hospital. Sue’s entire life has been spent caring for others. For many years, she visited children from White’s
Institute and Sangralea Valley who did not have family of their own. More recently, for the last 12 years, her whole world has revolved around her grandkids, who she loved very much. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for them, often at the expense of going without herself. Some of Sue’s favorite hobbies included going camping, cooking for her family, attending the grandkids various school events, and playing solitaire. She married her husband, James, April 13, 1969. He preceded her in death April 9, 2017. Surviving family include her mother Laura Frances, sister Laura Mae
(Darryl) Pegg, son Kris, daughter Kelli, and grandkids Lainey and Jackson Stoner, along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her father Roscoe, sister Cheryl Havens, and brother John preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lainey and Jackson’s 529 college funds. Please send to Kris Stoner, 6472 N. SR 19, Denver, IN 46926. Also, a short note about a memory you have of Sue can also be sent via the Flowers-Leedy online guestbook addressed to Lainey or Jackson to help them learn more about their grandmother. These would also be greatly appreciated. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Chili United Methodist Church, 6643 N. State Road. 19, Denver, Indiana, 46926, at a later date, once it is safe to do so. There will be no funeral service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.FlowersLeedyAllen.com.
