Many feel that their lives are out of control. We don’t have control over the Covid-19 pandemic, we don’t have control over the political division that’s all around us, we don’t have control over the racial strife in our country, and we don’t have control over how our governmental officials lead us in these challenging times. It seems like we don’t have control of most things in our lives…. but we do have a choice. In the middle of these extraordinary and unpredictable times, we can choose to seek the Lord. The congregations of Amboy Friends Church, Bennetts Switch Community Church, Bunker Hill United Methodist Church, Loree Brethren Church, Peoria Church, and Salem Christian Church have humbled themselves and sought the Holy Spirit’s leading.

By Mike Williams Six southern Miami County churches will be hosting a revival themed “Come and See: Reaching Out Together Towards Christ,” from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 25, 26, 27, and 28. Revival is a sovereign work of God. He is the one who chooses to stir hearts and build His Church. It doesn’t come from the work of men or their gimmicks. Revival is the movement of the Holy Spirit which ultimately leads to tremendous spiritual growth. Revival brings the individual Christian closer to Christ, and when a Christian is close to Christ, he or she are revived and renewed to share the Good News and their story of the things Jesus has done in their lives. We live in a time of political, social, and eco nomic unrest. It is a time of division. It is a time of war, protests, and riots. But scripture tells us in 2 Chronicles 7:14 that, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Her 81 put her in the top 20 in indi vidual scores in the field. Junior Mi randa Stoll was sec ond for the Braves by scoring an 83 which put her in the top 25 in indi vidual scores in the invitational. Mi randa’s game hasn’t been where she wanted it to be so she’s been put ting long hours of practice on her swing and putting. It paid off Saturday as she had confi dence in both to shoot 83. Senior Courtney Stoll smooth, powerful swing was on dis play all day as she constantly out drove her playing partners and hit ting her approaches closer. Courtney’s putter was very co operative as her putts just refused to fall. Her 89 was third in team in scoring. Senior Lehna startedWagneroutwell but suffered a small muscle spasm in her back. This hindered her for a stretch of holes and her scoring suf fered. She was able to get it stretched out to fin ish her round the way it started. Those watching her said she had at least 6 putts hit the lip and not fall. She solved that problem by chipping in on the nearly 400-yard par 4 16th hole. Her score of 104 was fourth on the team and a 19stroke improve ment from her round last

Lady Braves Golf team sets record defeating Wabash By Tait Wagner A year ago, the Lady Braves of the Maconaquah High School girls golf team shot a school record 171 to move to 3-0 on the season. Thursday, Aug. 11, the Lady Braves im proved the record by two shots by shooting a 169. What makes this score all the more impressive is that it occurred on the daunting front nine at the Rock Hollow Golf Club. (The previous record was set at the shorter, back nine at Etna Acres). This record setting night allowed the Lady Braves to de feat the Wabash Apache 169 to 235. Sophomore Daisy Williams won medalist by shoot ing a very solid 39. Daisy’s round was helped by the birdie she made on the fifth hole after bombing her drive close to the green. Daisy’s putting con tinues to be clutch as she was ob served making sev eral lengthy putts. Senior Courtney Stoll continues her splendid play by shooting a 42.
