PATRICIA LEE BACK

NORTH JUDSON, IN - Patricia Lee “Patty” Obrecht Back, 55, died Thursday, August 15, 2024. She was born June 16, 1969, to the late Paul and Sharon (King) Obrecht. On March 25, 1997, she married Randell “Randy” Back.

Patty graduated from Knox High School in Knox, Indiana. She graduate from Ancilla College with an RN degree and then earned her Licensed Practical Nurse degree from Central Florida Community College. She worked as a nurse for 20+ years.

She is survived by her husband, Randy, one step son, Sherman (Jennifer) Back of Lebanon, Tennessee, one daughter, Erica Marie Bailey of Knox, Indiana, two sons: Austin Michael Dale L (Esme’ Alejandra) and Braxton Ryan Back, both of North Judson, five grandchildren, one great granddaughter and siblings: Paula Krause, Diane Maryans and Robert Obrecht. She was preceded in death by one son, Ryan Obrecht.

Services were held Saturday, August 24, at the O’Donnell Funeral Home. Burial was in the Highland Cemetery in North Judson.

Arrangements were made by O’Donnell Funeral Home, Inc. in North Judson.

CYNTHIA SUE HAGEN

WINAMAC, IN - Cynthia Sue “Cindy” Hagen, 63, died unexpectedly on Monday, August 19, 2024, at her home. She was born December 1, 1960, in Knox, Indiana to Garland and Carolyn Sue (Cornelius) Marsh. On August 5, 1988, she married Ricky Lee “Chief” Hagen. He died June 29, 2015. Cindy was a 1978 graduate of Knox High School. She was known to many as “Momma Cindy” and she had a big heart to everyone. She had a passion for sewing, collecting rocks, spending time in her yard among her flowers, and most of all, she loved her family and friends. She was an avid Tik Toker with lots of followers.

She is survived by three sons: Joe (Ariel) Budka, Erik (Becky) Budka and Daniel Budka, all of Winamac, two daughters: Mia (fiancé Rob Bennett) Hagen of Macy, Indiana and Hope (Adam) Kestle of Monticello, Indiana, twenty three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two on the way, her mother, Carolyn Marsh of Knox, three brothers: Tom (Cathy) Marsh, Mike (Jeanie) Marsh and George (Evelyn) Marsh, all of Knox and one sister, Sandy (Scott) Sigler of Tipton, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her father, Garland Marsh, one infant brother, David Allen and her grandmother, Francis Carol “Granny” Cornelius.

Services were held Sunday, August 25, at Frain Mortuary, with Celebrant Ashley Young officiating. Burial was held Monday, August 26, in the Winamac Cemetery (Southlawn Addition) in Winamac. Memorial contributions may be made to Warrior Youth Baseball or West Central Youth League or Pulaski Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac.

NANCY H. DELLUCCI

NORTH JUDSON, IN - Nancy H. Dellucci, 67, died Thursday, August 15, 2024 at her home. She was born October 3, 1956.

She is survived by one daughter, Jennifer (Clinton) Jordan, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren and one sister, Diane (Frank) Dechellis. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Nichole Desio and her mother, Gloria Hill.

Arrangements were made by O’Donnell Funeral Home, Inc. in North Judson.

JACK DEAN HEIDEL

NORTH JUDSON, IN - Jack Dean

Heidel, 77, died Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac, Indiana. He was born January 10, 1947, in La Porte, Indiana, to the late William LeRoy and Thelma Adeline Heidel.

Jack was a 1965 graduate of North Judson High School. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #748 in Knox, Indiana. Jack had an adventurous life with too many stories to tell! He enjoyed socializing with friends, watching old John Wayne westerns, listening to classic rock music and spending time with his family.

He is survived by three daughters: Jenny Hurt and Melissa Gainer, both of Star City, Indiana and Kendra (Harlin) Manns of North Judson, twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one brother, Mike Heidel of Bass Lake, Indiana and one sister, Pat (Squeek) Liskey of North Judson. He was preceded in death by one brother, Lee Heidel.

Private burial was in the Highland Cemetery in North Judson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knox VFW.

Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac.

JAMES NEWTON SHANK, SR.

WINAMAC, IN - James Newton “Jim” Shank, Sr., 87, died Saturday, August 17, 2024 at his home. He was born August 3, 1937 in Winamac to the late J. Kermit and Rose M. (Nicolas) Shank. On October 8, 1960, in Winamac, he married Carol Jean Woods. Jim was a 1955 graduate of Winamac High School and served in the US Army Reserves. In 1985, he and Carol began Memories Captured that they operated until 2021.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, one daughter, Kim (Terry) Kline of Winamac, two sons: James Shank, Jr. of Winamac and Jerry Shank of Lafayette, Indiana, two grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one sister, Mary Baker of Winamac and one brother, John Shank of Tucson, Arizona. He was preceded in death by siblings: Thomas, Nicolas and Elizabeth Shank.

Graveside services were held Saturday, August 24, at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Winamac. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church Building Fund. Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac.

DOLORES FAY MATZAT

NORTH JUDSON, IN - Dolores Fay Matzat, 73, died Sunday, August 18, 2024, at IU North Hospital in Carmel, Indiana. She was born August 18, 1950 in La Porte, Indiana, to the late Ewald and Flora (Kothe) Matzat.

Dolores was a 1968 graduate of North Judson-San Pierre High School. She attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana, where she earned a B.S. degree in Political Science and an M.S. degree in Criminology. After college, she worked as a security guard for Wells Fargo Security in Lockport, Illinois. She then worked as a Human Resources specialist for Texaco in Illinois, Kansas, Texas, California and Ontario, Canada. She retired in Colorado Springs, Colorado and used her artistic skills in wood carving. Dolores enjoyed family gatherings and traveling to many places.

She is survived by one brother, Eugene (Linda) Matzat and one sister, Annette Matzat-Zellers. She was preceded in death by siblings: Nancy Woolery and Paul Matzat.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 31 at 12pm CDT, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, with Rev. Daniel Speckhard officiating. Visitation will take place one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Peter Lutheran Church.

LOIS J. BRADLEY

La PORTE, IN - Lois J. Bradley, 77, died Thursday, August 22, 2024 in La Porte, Indiana. She was born January 28, 1947, in Knox, Indiana, to Edward Bradley and Julia (Cole) Rowe.

Lois was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church of Salem Heights, Indiana. She enjoyed baking, bowling and working at the food pantry. Her greatest passion was her family.

She is survived by one son, David (Diana) Bradley of La Porte, two grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one brother, William Patton of La Porte, two sisters: Wanda (Jerry) Kaminski of Loveland, Colorado and Mary Albritton of La Porte. She was preceded in death by parents: Edward Bradley and Julia and Dan Rowe and sisters: Betty White, Phyllis Wilczynski and Shirley Richie.

Services were held Tuesday, August 27 at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Jason Burrick officiating. Burial was in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox. Contributions may be made to the Friendship Baptist Church.

DONA RAE BENOIT

CULVER, IN - Dona Rae Benoit, 74, died Saturday, August 24, 2024 in Culver, Indiana. She was born January 10, 1950, in Kankakee, Illinois to the late Leroy and Elnora (Soren) Reiniche. On October 29, 1969, in Kankakee, she married Ronald Benoit. He died on May 6, 2019.

Dona enjoyed riding motorcycles and spending time with her family. She had worked at the Medaryville Garment Factory.

She is survived by two sons: Don (Carrie) Benoit of Culver and Mike (Sharon) Benoit of Winamac, Indiana, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one brother, Rickie Reiniche Sr of Kankakee, three sisters: Kathy Kline and Vicki (Jim) Harner, both of Vienna, Illinois and Ruth Ann (Randy) Henneike of Martinton, Illinois. She was preceded in death by one sister, Donna Mae Seivers.

Celebration of life services to be held at a later date.
