I am a 62 year resident of Starke County. I live in Hamlet and graduated from Oregon-Davis.

I have 3 Children and 3 Grandchildren.

I am the current vice president of the County Council.

I am a man of integrity and truth.

I always vote and speak on behalf of the taxpayers and residents of our great County.

I was born and raised in Starke County. I reside in North Judson with my wife Brenna and our son Brayden. I have spent a lot of time donating back to our community. I spent 20 years with the North Judson Wayne Township fire department. I have a lot of experience working with budgets and grants. I have experience managing budgets as fire chief of the North Judson Wayne Township and the county surveyor. I am currently working on budgets with the Kankakee and Yellow River basin development where I am treasurer. I am running for county council to help improve our county budgets and with department heads and try to build a working relationship throughout our county I would appreciate your vote in November. As a 4th generation farmer, former business owner and current manager at Plymouth Foundry, I will bring strong leadership skills, business acumen and a deep understanding of our county’s needs. With roots in the community and a commitment to finding common ground on the pressing issues facing Starke County, I am ready to be a voice for all residents, not just a select few.

My goal is to bring honesty and unity back to Starke County. For too long, portions of our community have been laughed at and ignored.

It’s time for a commissioner who will listen, bring us together and tackle the tough problems we face. With a passion for fairness and transparency, I am dedicated to creating a thriving future for all of Starke County.

STARKE COUNTY SURVEYOR

My name is Gwen Rentz, and I’m your Republican candidate for Starke County Surveyor. I’ve been a proud resident of Starke County for 27 years. My husband and I love this community and we spend our free time fishing, hunting and searching for Indian artifacts in rural Starke County. We live a simple life on our hobby farm in Hamlet and our roots here run deep. With 17 years experience in Starke County Government, I know the policies and procedures needed to manage a strict budget, prepare payroll, handle claims and ensure transparency at every level of government. My commitment is to serve the citizens of this county with integrity and I’m excited about the opportunity to put my experience, strong work ethic and common sense to work for you as your County Surveyor. RAYMOND T. TIMMONS

WHEATFIELD, IN - Raymond T.

“Lurch” Timmons, 67, died unexpectedly Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Franciscan Health Hospital in Rensselaer, Indiana. He was born March 5, 1957 to the late Orville M. and Georgia M. (Ream) Timmons.

Raymond was a 1975 graduate of West Central High School and completed courses at Nashville Diesel College. He retired from Chester Inc. after over 40 years of service. Recently he enjoyed helping a local farmer when needed. He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening as well as canning. He could fix anything and was known as a joker with a sarcastic sense of humor. He loved his family and friends very much.

He is survived by his partner, Amy M. Looney of Wheatfield, two sons: Raymond N. (Jennifer) Timmons of Francesville, Indiana and Patrick M. (Ashley) Timmons of Wheatfield, one daughter, Katlyn R. (Kyle) Duryea of Peoria, Illinois, six grandchildren, one great granddaughter, four sisters: Jean K. (James) Meyer of Argos, Indiana, Carol L. Richie Warran of Rensselaer, Marlene F. Collins of Monterey, Indiana and LuAnn Allen of Medaryville, Indiana and one brother, Roger L. Timmons of Ora, Indiana. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert R. Timmons.

Services were held Monday, October 28, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel. Burial was in the Independence Cemetery in Medaryville. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

DAVID B. PERRY

KNOX, IN - David B. Perry, 66, died October 22, 2024, at Northwest Health Hospital in La Porte, Indiana. He was born June 9, 1958, in Valparaiso, Indiana, to the late Arlin and Betty (Crane) Perry.

David enjoyed spending time in nature and walking through the woods on the family farm. He loved anything to do with Harley Davidson motorcycles. He is survived by his partner, Melonie O’Meara of Knox, two daughters: Jessica (Jordan Patrick) Maenhout of Plymouth, Indiana and Laura (Jerry) Plenius of Portage, Indiana, two grandchildren and one sister, Kathleen (Jim) Sallee.

A celebration of life was held on October 28.

Arrangements were made by O’Donnell Funeral Home, Inc. in North Judson, Indiana.

GREGORY D. CHESAK

SAN PIERRE, IN - Gregory D. “Greg”

Chesak, 68, died Sunday, October 20, 2024, at his home. He was born March 23, 1956, to Donald and Joyce Chesak. On December 4, 1976, he married Diane Schroeder.

Greg was a 1974 graduate of North Judson San Pierre High School in North Judson, Indiana. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish and trap. He also enjoyed going to auctions, collecting and repairing antique firearms, muscle cars, gardening and cutting firewood. He was known by many as the counter attendant and machine mechanic at Countryside Lanes Bowling Alley in San Pierre. He was a small engine mechanic for many decades from his home.

He is survived by one daughter, Andrea (Jason Wadsworth) Chesak of Bloomfield, Indiana, one son, Ryan (Megan) Chesak of New Carlisle, Indiana, three grandsons, his mother, Joyce Chesak of Meta, Missouri, one sister, Linda Oliver of Meta and one brother, Dwight Chesak of North Judson. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald and one sister, Cynthia Marston.

In Greg’s memory please remember to recycle, reuse and be respectful of our environment. Private services will be held later.

KATHY JO PEELLE

KNOX, IN - Kathy Jo Peelle, 74, died Thursday, October 24, 2024, in Knox, Indiana. She was born August 8, 1950, in Knox to the late Charles and June (Phillips) Peelle Jr.

Kathy was a member of the New Hope Church and the Knox Christian Church. She was active in the Marshall-Starke Special Olympics and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed playing bingo, bunco, bowling and bocce ball. She also enjoyed getting her hair and nails done and spending time with her family. She worked for Maple Leaf.

She is survived by two sisters: Beverly (Tom) Spradlin of Indianapolis, Indiana and Becky Duncan of Elba, Alabama. She was preceded in death by siblings: Frank James Peelle, Margaret Bunkowfst and Barbara Proud.

Friends will be received 11am till time of services at 2pm, Saturday, November 2 at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel. Services will begin at 2pm with Rev. Bruce Bennett officiating. Private interment will follow at a later date at Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox.

LORI A. JACKSON

MEDARYVILLE, IN - Lori A. Jackson, 60, died Sunday, October 27, 2024 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Hobart, Indiana. She was born September 3, 1964, in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Kenneth A. and Francis L. (Stoner) Britton. On September 10, 2023, she married Frank P. Jackson.

Lori was employed at Wabash National in Lafayette for over 30 years. She enjoyed area casinos and sitting on the front porch with her husband. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Frank, three daughters: Bobbie Smith, Brittney Smith and Saira Jackson, one son, Christopher Jackson and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one step daughter, Melissa Short.

No services will be held at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the family c/o Frank P. Jackson.
