MESSAGE FROM THE PTO PRESIDENT

Dear Pegasus Community, The 2020-2021 school year proved to be a challenging year, but it was a year in which I was proud to be PTO president. Despite the obstacles we faced, the PTO pivoted and worked diligently to continue to support the faculty and staff and to help build community morale in the face of the Pandemic.

Many of our typical school events that support community and connection could not take place due to Covid protocols and the parent volunteer opportunities were limited, but the PTO found ways to safely honor our deserving teachers and staff. By providing our teachers with meals to enjoy on campus or to take home, gifting stress relief items, on top of providing the faculty with a morning treat pick-me-ups, we had the teachers in mind throughout the entire school year. It was not an easy time to be an educator and we made every effort to show our appreciation and gratitude for the extra hard work that each staff member demonstrated.

Our PegServe events took place in the classroom, but students were still able to make a difference in the local community with hands on activities that directly benefited both Operation Warm Wishes and our local front line workers. The PTO worked behind the scenes to both research, strategize, and organize these community service events. From collecting warm coats to books for a neighboring school in need, as always, the Pegasus community demonstrated their generosity and compassion. PegTalks, our popular parent education series continued despite the obstacles and adjusted to virtual talks. We were very fortunate to welcome back Michele Borba who discussed her new book, Thrivers with our community. The PTO was thrilled to offer Dr. Alison Briscoe Smith as a virtual speaker on how to speak to our children about race. This discussion was timely as it was followed by the Pegasus Board’s introduction of our school’s first DEIJ statement.

I am so grateful to be a part of the Pegasus community. I thank you for all of your support and involvement this past year. Thank you to all of the volunteers who worked so hard for the PTO behind the scenes. I also want to offer a special thank you to those who support the Annual Fund. We would not be here if it were not for your “Give to Great” contributions.

With Gratitude,

Kristen Perlmutter 2020-2021 PTO President
