The Phantom Life is a lifestyle
that everyone is exposed to, regardless of their culture or the society they live within. The brand name is inspired by a song called “Phantom”, by hip-hop artist Mr. Lif; the song explains how we’re all ghosts within modern society, living a fake, scripted life.
THE PHANTOM LIFE 04
Based in Queens, NYC, TPL promotes the recognition of the existence of “The Phantom Life”, breaking free from its grasp, and chasing one’s dreams. Drawing influence from 90’s Japanese cartoons, hip-hop culture and street art, TPL strives to relay the message of how imperative having a dream and searching for personal happiness truly is.

Nakanari to create a Kaiju “Spiki” in our “signature

TPL” style for a collaboration with his personal clothing brand, Mai Hiro. Spiki is Nakanari’s signature character; It’s made appearances on canvas, murals and customs as well as vinyl with the aid of Kid Robot (Ninja Spiki and Spiki Dunny) and Kusupop (Noruto, Wolfman Spiki, etc). and we turned him into an Ice Kaiju, attacking a city whilst melting in the Summer heat.

We decided to create a design based on Sun Wukong, the main character of the 16th century novel, “Journey to the West”. Wukong was capable of shape-shifting, creating clones of himself and casting spells that control the winds, waters and froze humans, demons and Gods alike. Most impressively, Wukong is known for taking down Heaven’s Army of 100,000 celestial warriors on his own. The only being capable of stopping The Monkey King’s usurping of Heaven was the Buddha, who used the mantra depicted in this design to imprison him.

His original characters are Kaiju, organized in gangs and mafias who fight amongst each other, and the forces of justice. With their arsenal of baseball bats, guns and of course, super Kaiju powers, they’re a force to be reckoned with. In 2013 he released his first resin figure of one of his original characters, Don Antler as well as a Gangsta Eyezon resin figure in collaboration with Max Toy Company; he looks forward to releasing more toys based off his characters in the future.
