Who are we? The Photobooth People is an Australian company started by us, Matt and Nikki Douglas, a couple who share a common love for photobooths and the magic they bring to every occasion. After failing to find one to rent for our own wedding, The Photobooth People was born - Queensland’s very first photobooth rental company, and only the fifth photobooth rental company to start in Australia. Since that time, what was a small Brisbane-based business has become a national rental network, with members now in every state and territory of Australia. We are very proud supporters of the community we have created – our rental network – and we are blessed to work with photobooth businesses Australia-wide who all have the same philosophy– to help and support each other to become the best in the Australian industry. We work very closely with all of our members, encouraging and helping them to build strong, thriving businesses. SOME INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT THE PHOTOBOOTH RENTAL INDUSTRY... Renting a photobooth for your wedding or event gained popularity in Europe and North America in the early 2000’s. Australia and New Zealand soon followed suit with a number of photobooth rental businesses opening their doors. In 2007 The Photobooth People commenced operation and became only the fifth Photobooth rental company in Australia. The popularity of Photobooth rentals for events has seen the number of businesses grow to more than 250 in Australia today. The huge demand for Photobooth rentals has been driven by the wedding market, with brides and grooms keen to have a Photobooth at their big day. There are approximately 116,000 weddings each year in Australia – a huge market that as yet remains largely untapped. In addition to weddings, photobooths are now enjoying their position as the ‘must have’ entertainment at birthday parties, engagements, Christmas parties, charity events, festivals and graduations. Corporate events have also become a huge market for photobooth rentals, with the marketing and advertising industries having discovered the potential of hiring photobooths for promotional purposes. Unlike ordinary means of promotion, a photobooth provides advertising material that will rarely be discarded. Why? Because the photostrips are candid photos of the customer and their friends and family - with a company logo featured prominently across the bottom – and they are put straight onto the fridge or on display. The events industry has also found the appeal of photobooths reaches every age group, with product launches, conferences, award nights, school formals, 21st birthday parties, promotional events and basically every type of gathering being catered for.

Other important (and handy!) info Photobooth maintenance While our machines are sophisticated electronic marvels, they do require a small amount of maintenance. Recommended maintenance includes: wiping over your cabinet and touch screen and checking that all cables and connections are tight. We also recommend having your printer serviced periodically, with service intervals depending on frequency of use and operational environment. A great feature of our machines is that the user friendly major components (camera, printer, computer and control board) are ‘plug and play’ to ensure you can continue operation in the event that you have maintenance or repair issues. If you find a component needs attention, you can simply replace it with your spare and continue operation.

Training Buy a photobooth from us and you won’t be left in the dark! Our photobooths come with comprehensive training, a detailed owner’s manual and on-going support, including a full library of How To and Technical Videos. Our Brisbane head office is open 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and our staff and technicians are on hand to help you when you need it – including 24/7 after hours support*. *After-hours technical support attracts a small fee (after hours support is rarely required by our customers, but it’s great to know it’s available if you need it!).
Consumables – paper and ink ribbon Digital Centre photobooths operate commercial Mitsubishi dye-sublimation printers that use coded Digital Centre consumables. These consumables are exclusively available in Australia from The Photobooth People, and each box of consumables contains one roll of paper and one roll of ink ribbon. One box of consumables is enough paper/ ink to complete 600 sessions in the photobooth, or 1200 photostrips (our booths print either two identical photostrips or one 4x6 photo every session). Dye sublimation printers are unique in that they print photos via a lamination process – meaning immediately after the photos leave the printer they are dry and cannot be smudged. These printers produce archival, professional quality photographs that last 100+ years. Our photobooths are capable of completing 45 sessions per hour. At the average useage rate of 25 to 30 sessions per hour, one box of consumables will last 20+ hours, or 4 to 5 average length events.
Moving our full cabinet machine – the New Generation Touch We highly recommend our custom trolleys to help you move our full cabinet machines. Why not a built-in trolley? A built in trolley will not get you across a muddy paddock to a music festival, or up and down gutters, steep driveways, bitumen roads, pebbled driveways and around city blocks. Our trolleys will take you most places you need to go with minimal wear and tear on your booth, and can be removed after transport. They can travel wherever a wheelchair can, meaning that access to the majority of venues is no problem. Our trolleys are made with top of the line pneumatic wheels and come with a 5 year construction warranty.
Free Play, Coin Vend or Token Vend? Operate our full-cabinet machines a variety of different ways to maximise income potential. Hire them on weekends on a free-play basis, and have them in a permanent placement during the week on coin-vend for additional income. You can even switch from free-play to coin-vend after your freeplay events so that excited guests can continue to use the booth on a user-pays basis. The coin mechanisms are pre-programmed to take $1 and $2 coins and the user friendly menu allows you to charge customers whatever price you wish. Similarly, all of our booths can be operated with a token acceptor which is perfect for permanent or semi-permanent installations. In addition, negotiating a revenue-share agreement for coinvend or token-vend machines placed at venues or arcades can provide an excellent source of passive income.

Spare parts All spare parts are available from our Brisbane Head Office, and we encourage booth owners to hold spare parts as soon as their budget allows to ensure hasslefree boothing. The major components: computer, printer, camera and control board can all be fitted without specialist training.
Do you need a booth immediately? Not a problem. We hold machines in stock and can generally dispatch as soon as we receive payment.
Looking to finance? Not a problem we have a number of options: We have partnered with GoGetta to offer an incredibly affordable rental program where you can rent to own your photobooth. You can also purchase the equipment at any time during the first 12 months and receive 75% of the net rent as a rebate. Return the equipment at the end of the 12 month agreement if it is no longer required, or continue to rent. Access this program to operate your business with much smaller outlay and more easily control your cash flow as your business kicks off. Rental repayments are 100% tax deductable, and GoGetta rent machines to brand new business owners, unlike banks.
