IS A MICRO WEDDING FOR YOU?

by Ashleigh Haney

Never heard of a micro wedding? Well I’m here to give you the lowdown. Let’s get to it! A micro wedding is defined as a small and intimate wedding involving a much smaller invite list of close family and a few friends. This type of wedding can often be confused with an elopement, but elopements typically only involve the couple getting married and the officiant. Micro weddings usually include a guest list between 20 and 50 people. Think of it as a step up from an elopement and not quite a traditional wedding. Wanting the intimacy of an elopement and the comfort of your closest friends and family? Then this may be the perfect choice!

IT’S YOUR DAY

You may find that this wedding style allows you to focus on what your special day is all about, the love shared between you and your future spouse. A micro wedding gives you the space to enjoy and soak up the moment. It also allows you to spend more quality time with the people closest to you and depending on how many are near and dear to you, you may even be able to fit all of your guests at one table!

NOW TRENDING

Micro weddings have become more popular over the past year due to the global pandemic and is now trending in the wedding world. Even though these times have come with a lot of unknowns, there are still ways you can say yes to love while staying safe and healthy. Your love deserves to be celebrated and planning a micro wedding is a way you can do it in a more intimate and affordable way.

KEEP THE TRADITIONS

Some couples preferred this type of celebration for their special day over a large traditional wedding even before COVID-19. Though the guest list may be smaller, you can still incorporate the popular wedding traditions and make the most of your day. The ceremony. The cake cutting. The first dance. It all can still happen. Just because your wedding will be on a smaller scale does not mean you can’t still incorporate the traditions that you’ve always dreamed of having.

MORE FREEDOM

Micro weddings allow you to run with your creativity. This gives couples the opportunity to choose a unique space that may not be accessible for those planning a larger wedding. Think parks, galleries, gardens, or even your favorite restaurant. The list goes on and on. Choosing a nontraditional space or venue can also be cost efficient allowing you to eliminate some items off your checklist. For example, some spaces may hold enough beauty without any additional décor giving you the chance to splurge on a different area.

FREE FROM STRESS

Let’s talk planning. This process will most likely be the most stressful part of your engagement. However, planning a micro wedding may make it less time consuming or demanding and give you and your soon to be spouse a more relaxed time leading up to the big day. A limited guest list will save you time and money during your planning journey as well as minimize those day of nerves. A smaller setting allows for more interactions with those attending, creating more intimate moments and memories with all of your favorite people. Micro weddings also get rid any expectations that come with larger weddings. Change it up, make it your day and unique to your relationship. This is a day to be remembered forever. Make it represent you and the love you share.
