A Taste of
ANAHEIM WHITE HOUSE RESTAURANT
Gourmet New Italian/Seafood Bistro | $$$ 887 S. Anaheim Blvd., Anaheim • 714-772-1381 • anaheimwhitehouse.com Before even walking through the doors, arriving at the Anaheim White House Restaurant is already a special experience. The National Historical Landmark building is unlike any other in the area, with its welcoming patio and regal façade outlined with hundreds of twinkle lights shining in the evening sky. It’s the kind of place where everyone is treated like a special VIP guest, from the gracious host who greets you to the incredibly professional wait staff who cater to your every need, no matter how big or small. Upon being seated we had the honor of being visited by the owner Bruno Serato, who educated us on the history of the restaurant, its authentic Italian influences, such as the one-of-a-kind wall murals, and all of the important people who have graced its tables. Even more impressive is the charity work that Bruno does with the underprivileged children in the Anaheim area. Each night he delivers fresh pasta to over 500 children who wouldn’t otherwise have food on their table, so every purchase made at this establishment helps keep this amazing program going. CNN, People Magazine, and the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric have all reported on this ongoing outreach of community support that continues to do such good for the children of Orange County. After this intellectual and spiritual education, we moved on to the culinary schooling. We were treated to special appetizers ranging from a delicious and tender Carpaccio, to individualized sampler platters of their rich and flavorful pasta items. The wine selection is diverse and extensive, with enough selections to please even the pickiest of wine connoisseurs! The main course made for some tough choices, but everyone at our table was beyond pleased with their selections, which made for a lot of sharing and passing around of plates. The waiters are all well-informed, and were able to explain in detail how each dish is prepared and offered good suggestions to the indecisive ones in our group. The fresh local vegetable sides were a perfect companion to the meat and fresh seafood. We didn’t think we’d have room for dessert, until we saw the menu and of course had to order one of everything. Everyone left satisfied, and already planning our next excursion at the White House.
ANGELO’S AND VINCI’S RISTORANTE
Casual Family-Style Italian | $ 550 N. Harbor Blvd., Fullerton 714-879-4022 angelosandvincis.com At Angelo’s and Vinci’s Ristorante (est. in 1971), they hand stuff their pastas, roll each tortellini, bake their own bread, and make their own sauces fresh from their private stock of Sicilian recipes. Talk about attention to detail. True to tradition, you’ll want to order family-style, and you’ll want to come hungry. From 50 pasta dishes and award-winning specialty pizzas to mesquite wood grilled entrées and seafood, try a little bit of everything. The décor deserves your attention, too. You’ll dine amidst art by the great masters and find surprises around every corner. Founder, Steven Peck (dancer, choreographer, and veteran actor of stage and screen), even decorated the ristorante with delightful photographs of over 40 years of famous stars, directors, and dancers.
Thanks to over 30,000 voters, Anaheim White House Restaurant was named in the 2013 OC Hot List as the Best Fine Dining in Orange County!

YES, THIS IS PARADISE
From Los Angeles to San Diego, Southern California contains some of the most famous beaches with year round warm weather. If you want to do more then just soak up the sun, look through this section for exciting and unique things to do around the beaches. One of our favorite beach cities is Newport Beach, where you can rent bikes to ride on the board walk, visit Balboa Island for fun and games, rent kayaks to explore through the bay, or for more adventure on the water take a whale watching cruise to spot one of the hundreds of whales and dolphins right off the coast! Every beach city has it’s own culture; so don’t be shy to check them all out. If you’re looking for more recommendations, take a look at page 28 for some our favorite beaches. HORNBLOWER CRUISES Taking a journey upon one of HornBlower’s many cruises is something you simply cannot miss out on. Whatever the occasion, you’ll enjoy gentle bay breezes, glittering waves, and the dramatic San Diego skyline. Whether it’s your birthday, anniversary, or you finally found a great babysitter, hop aboard for gracious hospitality and stunning views. As you walk aboard the yacht you are greeted with a chilled glass of champagne and friendly faces. With scrumptious food, gorgeous views of the San Diego Waterfront, live entertainment and dancing, how could you not enjoy yourself? Another San Diego favorite is the Sunday Champagne crunch cruise. MAKE A BEELINE FOR STARLINE TOURS Whether you’re a visitor looking to see the sights of Hollywood, or like me, a seasoned SoCal mom who’s always a bit too busy to find time to see the sights, Starline Tours is the way to go. Starline Tours offers many tours to choose from. I’ve got three daughters, and for my family’s adventure, we opted for the Hop-On, Hop-Off Double Decker Fun Tour of Hollywood on an open-air bus. This particular tour stops at 17 different locations where you can hop off at any time and see the sights, then catch the next bus 40 minutes later. We checked in at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, and our day was already starting off with delight. The girls were mesmerized by all of the stars’ hand and footprints left in the cement. There seemed to be hundreds of them. We boarded our big red bus and headed to the top level. My kiddos were so excited to see Hollywood. Here’s just a taste of some of the awesome sights we experienced: - House of Blues Sunset Strip - Nickelodeon Studios - Millions of Milkshakes - LACMA - The Original Farmers Market - Pink’s - Paramount Studios - Pantages Theatre, Hollywood - Hollywood Walk of Fame - Madame Tussauds Hollywood - And so much more… The main Starline Tours terminal is located at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre at 6925 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood.
