SHARING EXPERIENCES
WELCOME!
Welcome to our Spring season at The Point and Berry Theatres! As we move into a new year, we look forward to sharing the wonderful world of creative experiences we have on offer.
Before Christmas becomes too much of a distant memory, we are thrilled to share that our Christmas show for 2023 at The Berry Theatre is Raymond Briggs’ Father Christmas It doesn’t get more Christmassy than this beautiful production – book now to avoid disappointment and make the most of our early bird discounts. Theatrical treats peppering the Spring months include: Unfiltered, a not-to-be-missed opportunity to see the very best new work being created by local talent in a relaxed environment with a shared meal; master of performance Shôn Dale-Jones (aka Hugh Hughes) is Still Floating and James Rowland is Learning to Fly; there’s circus with Orange Skies’ Wild Onion; and visionary dance theatre from Avant Garde with Illegal Dance. Get social with our Studio Sounds nights which take the relaxed feel of our Summer Social into the Studio theatre for chilled acoustic vibes, a perfect end to the week with friends. Plus The Comedy Network finds a new home at The Berry Theatre – alert your WhatsApp group now and pin down those great nights out. And finally, a new and exciting addition for 2023 - Take Flight, a festival of events and activities created for, with and by children and young people and featuring loads for families of all ages and configurations to get involved in and enjoy together. We cannot wait to see our Youth Theatre take to the stage with their inventive and imaginative production of Fantastic Mr Fox and to watch in awe as our talented Young Dance companies bring to life the songs of The Beatles in LOVE; plus The Point Ensemble will present their contribution to the National Theatre Connections Festival with a passionate presentation of (Circle Dreams Around) The Terrible, Terrible Past. The great news is it isn’t too late to join one of our Young Companies; join now and be part of the Easter performances at Take Flight. So, whether you’re visiting to enjoy a performance, a workshop or looking for somewhere warm and comfortable to sit and relax, we are open and here for you.

STILL FLOATING
in co-production with Pontio, Bangor, Cairde Sligo Arts Festival and Theatre Royal, Plymouth
STILL FLOATING is a brand new piece of warmhearted comic storytelling by BBC awardwinning writer/performer Shôn Dale-Jones. A story about love, resilience and laughing at the things that should make us cry.
When someone suggests that Shôn should remount his 2006 Total Theatre award-winning hit show FLOATING (Barbican, Sydney Opera House) about the Isle of Anglesey floating away from mainland Britain, he is sure it isn’t what the world needs right now. 2006 is not 2022.
As Shôn explains why he shouldn’t present the show we find out that sometimes going backwards helps us move forwards. Told by a twotime Fringe First winner, this is a funny, uplifting and moving story, making the real and unreal fit together in one surprising whole.

It involved buying a sports car, having a brief marital separation and running a 100k ultra marathon which really didn’t end well. Along the way her hair decided the best thing to do was abandon ship. It ain’t easy being a middle aged woman: try doing it with a combover. Thankfully Zoe has been able to explore the funny side of all these twists and turns. It’s time to sell the silly car and try and put the wheels back on her life.

A PERFECT LIKENESS
Reclusive writer and photographer Charles Dodgson (also known as “Lewis Carroll”) invites celebrity author Charles Dickens to his Oxford home to pose for a portrait. Dickens is so intrigued by the whimsical Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland that he accepts.
What ensues is a baring of two creative souls, the one private and fastidious, the other boisterous and irreverent. The result is a hilarious and revealing conversation between two quirky, fascinating, and completely different men.
