Year 12 Chemistry Olympiad

Pupils from Years 12 and 13 took part in the first round of the Royal Society of Chemistry Olympiad with other students across the country. The Olympiad is a challenging paper, designed to test and stretch the most able of A-Level chemists.

Pupils were tasked with finding out more about the new E10 petrol on sale in the UK, the thermodynamics involved in storing the coronavirus vaccine and the concept of equilibrium begin lateral flow tests. If pupils do well, they will find themselves being invited to take part in round two with a chance to be selected for a training camp and to represent the UK at the International Chemistry Olympiad in Tianjin, China.
