SOUTH COAST SEVENS

2024

WELCOME Mr David Wickes Head of The Portsmouth Grammar School

It is a pleasure to welcome you to The Portsmouth Grammar School’s Hilsea Playing Fields, for the 2024 South Coast Rugby Sevens Tournament. It is wonderful to see so many schools represented, and I would like to thank all the staff for giving their time generously to bring the players here today. We are looking forward to a festival of rugby, and I am sure that we will witness some thrilling performances. I would also like to thank parents and supporters for all that they do for the players. We are grateful that you are here today and very much hope you enjoy the experience. Equally, I wish to extend my thanks to the referees, without whom there would be no matches at all, and also to South Coast Physio who are providing medical support. Finally, I wish to pay tribute to all the staff at PGS, including the Grounds and Catering Staff for everything that they do throughout the year, but especially today. Special thanks to Henno Venter, Head of Rugby, and Simon Copeland, Director of Sport, for their organisation of this event.

COACHES CORNER HENNO VENTER

PGS HEAD OF RUGBY

I would like to say a very warm welcome to the annual PGS South Coast 7s Tournament. As we all know, education is not just about what can be successfully delivered via classrooms. Events like today offer young people invaluable experiences and life lessons. In addition to fostering moments of happiness, collaborating as a team and forging lasting memories. It is truly inspiring to see numerous students proudly representing their school alongside their friends. Regardless of the outcome today, my sincere wish is for the game to be played with sportsmanship and for everyone involved to have a wonderful day. I would like to express my gratitude to the entire PGS staff for their dedication and hard work in organizing this tournament. They put in a tremendous amount of effort before and during the event to ensure its success.
