WELCOME

Portsmouth Grammar South Coast Rugby again and to see opportunity to thank all the staff for giving their time generously to bring the players here today. We are looking forward to seeing the teams play and I have no doubt that, even at this stage of the season, we are in for some thrilling performances.

I would like to thank parents and supporters for all that they do for the players. We are grateful that you are here today and very much hope you enjoy the experience.

Equally, I wish to extend my thanks to the referees, without whom there would be no matches at all, and also to South Coast RX Physiotherapy who are providing medical support.

Finally, I wish to pay tribute to all the staff at PGS, including the Grounds and Catering Staff for everything that they do throughout the year, but especially today. I am also enormously grateful for the work of our PE Department, especially Simon Copeland, Director of Sport, and Andrew Seddon, Head of PE, for their organisation of this event.

RULES

1. Each school may use a squad of up to 14 players for the tournament.

2. Games will be under RFU / World Rugby 7s Laws.

3. Each game will be 7 minutes each way, 1 minute for half-time.

4. In the group stages 3 points will be awarded for a win and 1 point for a draw. If at the end of the group stages, there is a tie the winner will be the team having scored the most tries; then the fewest tries conceded; then the toss of a coin.

5. If any match after the group stage ends in a draw extra time will be played in one period of 5 minutes and will operate under a Golden Try format. Should this not produce a winner, sudden death drop kicks will take place from the 22 line in front of the posts.

6. Conversions of tries underneath the posts can be taken from either side of the post.

7. If a team is late for whatever reason they will forfeit the game as a 0-20 point loss (4 tries).

8 In the event of a colour clash, the first named team should change.

9. Each team playing must provide one touch judge. If they are required as a replacement, the captain should ensure an alternative touch judge is found immediately.

10 All decisions of the organisers are final.
