This is Bainbridge. A tight-knit community graced with amazing people and abundant pride.
This is where we work.
Where we raise our children.
Where we call home.
And thanks to the ongoing support of our friends, neighbors and co-workers, this is where we will continue to bring world-class innovation to market.
Hello, and thank you for picking up a copy of our 2024 Bainbridge-Decatur County Community Guide. Our goal for this guide is to provide an overview of our amazing community. Here, you'll discover the true beauty of the Old South and experience the graciousness of Southern hospitality with modern-day amenities. The Flint River and Lake Seminole offer abundant fishing and water sports, so much so that Georgia State Legislature named us the Bass Capital of Georgia in 2009. Both the river and the lake attract thousands of amateur and professional anglers each year. When it’s time to slow your pace, enjoy our unique downtown with locally sourced and fresh restaurants choices, plenty of outdoor dining, public art, and an open container district to enjoy a night cap! Bainbridge has more than 200 hotel rooms and several campgrounds, many with cabins or houses for rent. Nearly 50 restaurants will allow you to find the perfect meal at breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Be sure to visit one of our family-friendly festivals, including River Town Days in March, and the city's July 4th Celebration.

The vision for the Chason Park Expansion project was to create a continuous park corridor, create a portal to the river from downtown, enhance visibility/access to downtown, and create a desirable framework for redevelopment. One of the primary objectives of this plan was to develop a recreational destination along the waterfront that would draw people, especially families with children, to the downtown. The completion of the project would further two objectives, enhance recreational opportunities and generate economic growth.
220 W. Jackson Street
The Public Fitness Court, located in Chason Park is part of the National Fitness Campaign and the first of its type in the state of Georgia. It was made possible by the City of Bainbridge, Collaborative Impact for Decatur County and local fitness trainers who can teach others how to properly use the equipment. It is a bodyweight circuit training system designed for adults of all ages and abilities.
The Nature Trail is a 3.5 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near the Earle May Boat Basin Recreation Area. It features scenic veiws of the river and is good for all skill levels of walkers. The trail is primarily used for walking, running, nature trips and bird watching. Dogs are also able to use this trail, but must be kept on a leash.
Located just 23 miles west of Bainbridge on Highway 253, Seminole State Park covers 604 beautiful, wooded acres and contains cottages, campsites, picnic facilities, a lake, a beach, miniature golf, fishing docks, boat and kayak rentals, and boat ramps. The threatened gopher tortoise, the only tortoise native to Georgia, makes its home along a 2.2 mile nature trail located in the park. The park also offers special events, summer nature programs, and weekend activities.
In 2008, the Georgia State Legislature declared Bainbridge the “Bass Capital of Georgia” and it’s no secret that Lake Seminole is one of the main reasons why. Both the Flint River and Lake Seminole offer abundant fishing and water sports, attracting thousands of amateur and professional fishermen with many top bass tournaments throughout the year. In fact, Bainbridge was home to the very first B.A.S.S. tournament.
Lake Seminole is known as one of the best sites for sports fishing in America. Extensive stump and grass beds provide abundant cover where anglers fish for largemouth, hybrid, striped and white bass. Sizable populations of catfish, crappie and bream are also present. Over 79 species of fish have been identified in the lake.
Silver Lake Wildlife Management Area is a 9,200-acre property located in southern Decatur County. This WMA offers hunting opportunities for deer, turkey, small game, quail and waterfowl. The property supports 30 groups of red-cockaded woodpeckers, a significant population of Bachman's sparrows, gopher tortoises, nesting bald eagles and many other high priority species. The property has a 350-acre lake and four smaller ponds with boat ramps and docks.
Bainbridge Oaks is an 18 hole disc course located at the Earle May Boat Basin in Bainbridge, Ga. The course is carefully designed to create a mix of challenging, scenic and fun with both pro and amateur tee pad locations and multiple pins on most holes.

Agriculture, a driving force for local economies across Georgia, has long shaped the state’s history. The 2024 Ag Snapshots report on Georgia’s agricultural economy is based on the 2022 Georgia Farm Gate Value Report, an annual, county-level economic valuation for all food and fiber production in the state. Together these commodities directly represent a value of over $18.3 billion to the Georgia economy. Beyond their farm gate values, these commodities form a foundation for our diverse agricultural supply chain, providing key resources to many sectors and adding value within the economy. Ag Snapshots provides the output and jobs supported by food and fiber production, which include the directly related industries along the supply chain – the total economic contribution – to highlight the importance of the agricultural economy to Georgia. In 2022, food and fiber production and related industries represented $83.6 billion in output to Georgia’s $1.4 trillion economy and more than 323,300 jobs in the economy.
