Elizabeth Smith (Miles) was born on November 8, 1926 in Hennepin, OK to McCannon Miles and Alena (Avriett) Miles. She was the first child of a family of seven children.
Her Education
She attended Avriett View Elementary in Katie, OK (the school was founded and named after her grandfather, Thomas Avriett). Her high school years were spent at Lincoln High School in Wynnewood, OK where she graduated in 1945. After High School she left home to attend Langston University. After one year she decided to move back home.
She accepted Christ at an early age at Little Flock Baptist Church in Elmore City, OK. After she married and moved to Davis, OK, Elizabeth and family were members of Gilfield Baptist Church where they faithfully attended. Upon moving to Duncan they united with newly founded Bethany Baptist Church. There she served as Finance Secretary for many years. She also was the President of the Mission Society, member of the Pastor’s Aide, a member of the Usher Board and served in whatever capacity her church needed. She remained a member there for over 60 years.

Her Employment
While taking care of her family, Elizabeth also worked as a private housekeeper and caregiver for several families in Duncan such as the Glass Family, Corbett Family, the Garners, Mrs. Ted Williams and the Connors. She took pride in her work and served each family well.
Her
Elizabeth reconnected with her childhood friend and schoolmate Roger B. Smith after returning home from college. Soon after, they decided to marry in 1946. To this union four sons were born. They established their first home in Davis, OK and later moved to Duncan in 1962. Her Church

holidays because they knew she would be making delicious desserts such as Lemon Meringue Pie or German Chocolate Cake. She enjoyed making quilts, embroidery and making jellies and jams. She also loved sports and Elizabeth and Roger B were always in the stands cheering on their sons in whatever sports they played.
Elizabeth was a devoted wife making sure her husband had a warm breakfast before he went to work. When the boys were younger they would look forward to the
Those who wait on the Lord: four sons, Roger Leon (Eva), and Lawrence Smith of Duncan, OK; Reggie Smith (Brenda) of Edmond, OK; Mike Smith (Manvinda) of Rowlett, TX; 14 grandchildren: Roger Boston, Nicole Fox, Dana Roberts, Lamont Smith, Chad Smith, Lawrence Smith Jr., Keshia Beard, Tiffany Carr, Reginald Smith, II, Chevis Smith, Jasmine Smith (Amaziyah Baht Israel), Ashanti Smith, Trevan Smith, Micah Smith and Acqurah Smith; 25 great grandchildren and 7 greatgreat grandchildren; two sisters: Alma Prince of OKC; Erma Glass (Raymond) of Duncan, OK; one brother: Earl C. Miles of Wynnewood, OK; one sister-in-law: Maxine Finley of Katy, OK; special “adopted” daughter Annette Smith; many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Her Interests, Special Talents, Love of Family and Friends
Elizabeth and Roger B. enjoyed a comfortable life in Duncan and she was there to support her husband who was a very hard working man. In 1983, Roger B. became ill and she dutifully and lovingly cared after him for 18 months until his passing. In her later years, she still enjoyed cooking and baking and she was especially known for her famous Pound Cake. She liked solving crossword puzzles and word find. During warm weather you would see her walking through her neighborhood or sitting on the front porch. During the colder weather she liked watching OU football and watching professional basketball.
After 95 seasons with us on Earth, Elizabeth left us on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. She was greeted at Heaven’s gate by her mother, father, two sisters, one brother as well as her husband Roger B. Smith.
Her Transition and Loving Family
Affectionately known as “Granny”, “Lizabeth” or Mrs. Smith, she was a big part of her sons’ & families’ lives with her loving support. She continued to fill her life with taking care of and loving on her grandchildren.
