Thomas Eugene (OutKast) Ferguson II was born on Wednesday, December 11th 1985 to his mother, Ms. Starla Smith and his father, Thomas E. Ferguson Sr. Thomas was the first child for both parents. His father beamed with pride upon learning of his upcoming debut into the world. His mother was overjoyed and eager to be a good mother. While Thomas' parents lovingly doted on him, Thomas was truly the apple of his Grandma Lillie's eye, so much so that she when she retired she became full time nanny/ caregiver. As a baby Tom was a delight. He was an avid thumb sucker (a habit that began in his mother’s womb). Thomas, smiled often, was a bit mischievous and hardly ever cried. With big brown eyes, curly hair and a smile that melted hearts, Tom was the epitome of a happy baby and the light of his mother’s world. Before his first birthday Thomas and his mother moved to Jacksonville, Florida where they met Tony Echols, who embraced Thomas as his own. Over time Starla and Thomas settled into life in Florida with the Echols family. For Thomas's second birthday the Echols family took him to Walt Disney World (this is when the magic started). When Thomas turned three-years-old the family moved to Germany for three years where Tom was adored by their German neighbors in the small village. The family returned to Jacksonville, Fl. where Thomas attended Duval County Public Schools. At the age of 10 years old Thomas
was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at Jacksonville Heights Baptist Church. As a child Thomas loved all things Disney, Tiny Tunes Adventures, Darkwing Duck and Chip and Dale. Thomas found pleasure in video gaming, technology, and spending time with his family and friends. As an adolescent, Thomas and his maternal first cousins had a strong affinity for The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and they proudly dubbed themselves Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo and Leonardo. Thomas attended Frank H. Peterson High School and belonged to a strong community in the Westside of Jacksonville where he established countless lifelong friendships. In April of 2006 Thomas proudly became a first time father to Queen Deavion. Tom became Queen's permanent and primary caregiver shortly before she turned oneyears-old; his grandmother, mother and sister rallied behind him in support. Thomas and Queen shared an incredible bond and a love for all things Disney. The two were annual Disney World pass holders and visited the theme park constantly throughout Queen's youth. As Tom and Queen (the dynamic duo) took on the world together as father and daughter, Thomas discovered that his highest calling was to do his best as a father and to be invested, loving and nurturing with his children and a source of positivity for all those he encountered. In July of 2008 Thomas became a father to his first son,
Zechariah Omar, who inherited Tom's love for video games. Zechariah and Thomas began playing video games together online and while a geographic separated the two remained close and enjoyed moments to bond remotely. Thomas was always eager and ecsta=c to see his son. In December of 2017 Thomas welcomed his second son, Kingsley Amir, into the world. Kingsley inherited his father’s energy, animated spirit (goofiness), charming personality, charisma and zest for life. Thomas took advantage of opportuni=es to visit Kingsley when he traveled to Jacksonville as well has weekly FaceTime visits with Kingsley. Thomas took the role of patriarch for his family seriously, he was a proud single black father first and foremost. Thomas and his mother had a very close and transparent rela=onship, she oOen told him to be real with her because she knew him completely, from when he was in her womb to the moment he took his last breath, which happened within a mere thirty minutes aOer the two shared laughter, catching up and their last meal together. Thomas was more than Starla's son, he was her best friend. She would oOen look at him lovingly and proudly declare "that's my guy." Thomas was a fierce protector and advocate to his only liRle sister Toni Rae and filled the shoes of a father for his nephew Ray “man-man”. Within the last four years Thomas reconnected with his younger brothers, Kyle and Kellen. The renewal of the brothers' rela=onships brought Thomas immense joy. He also truly enjoyed reconnec=ng with his Ferguson Family. Thomas was a musical connoisseur who enjoyed a wide range of genres from jazz and classical to rap and R&B. He was an avid fan of numerous ar=sts
including MF Doom, Thundercat, Kanye West, Outkast, Sade, Jay Electronica, Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, Gorillaz, Sza and Tyler the Creator. Thomas loved having a good =me with family and friends. He delighted in grilling, cooking, aRending concerts and traveling. Tom was a movie and technology enthusiast and enjoyed a lengthy professional career at Game Stop, Best Buy and Amazon. In January of 2022, Thomas accepted an offer to work for Piedmont/American Airlines. He was ecsta=c to launch a career in the airline industry but before he had the opportunity to do so God chose to give him permanent wings so he could fly. He will con=nue to soar in our hearts and memories forevermore. Thomas was proceeded in death by his maternal grandparents Lillie and Raymond; his paternal grandparents Selma and Walter; his niece Remy. His passing has leO an irreplaceable void for his 3 young children: Queen, Zechariah and Kingsley; May God be with them in =mes when they need a father most. LeO to treasure Thomas’s memory: his mother Starla; father Thomas; father Tony; Grandma Melinda; Sister Toni Rae; brothers Kyle and Kellen; His nephew RaDerick “Man-Man”; His Step-Father David C. Smith; Aunts: Pam, Ruth, Carla (Billy) AndraneRa “NeRa Boo”, Linda (David), Dedra (Elvis); Uncles: Demetrius (Jacque), Clarence ( A n g i e ) , P a u l ( P a y t o n ) , Wa l t e r, L a m a r “Tygir” (Katherine) and Shawn (Shere) and Vincent (MareRe). Lastly, missing Thomas will be numerous cousins; an en=re community of wonderful friends who loved him dearly from Duval County /Jacksonville, Florida to OKC.

Thank you to everyone for praying, keeping us lifted in thoughts. The acts of kindness haven’t went unnoticed.
