Even the most avid sun worshippers have said a big thank you for the wonderful rain which we have had in the last week. We are still challenged mightily by the unusual humidity in the Bay. Many more folk have enjoyed the ocean this year as a result of the heat and humidity… some who have not been in the sea for over 5 years have re-discovered its magic! Well done to all the folk who remembered to wear purple on Tuesday in recognition of Moebius Syndrome Awareness Day (MSAD) (for more info: www.manyfacesofmoebiussyndrome.co m , www.moebiussyndrome.co.za .

This week’s What’s New is full of lovely news, views and snippets, keeping us all in touch with our fabulously diverse and vibrant community. Enjoy reading and feel free to participate in the events on offer. Visitors are most welcome. Whatever you choose to do (or not) have a fun-filled week in our beautiful bay!

Insurance Claim quotes

If we are unlucky enough to be involved in a car accident, of course it is never our fault. The following quotes show what people write on their insurance claim forms. Apparently these are strange but true stories. 1 I collided with a stationary tree. 2. There was no damage done to the car, as the gatepost will testify. 3. Ice on the road applied brakes causing skid. 4. One wheel went into a ditch. My foot jumped from brake to accelerator pedal, leapt across the road to the other side and jumped into the trunk of a tree. 5. The water in my radiator accidentally froze at 12 midnight. 6. I was taking a friend home and keeping two yards from each lamp post which were in a straight line. Unfortunately, there was a bend in the road bringing the right-hand lamp post in line with the other and of course I landed in a ditch. 7.Question: Could either driver have done anything to avoid the accident? Showroom: Piesang Valley Road Fax: 044 533 0505 PUSS N BOOTS Animation, Comedy, family Puss in Boots from the Shrek series gets his own starring role. Placed as a prequel way before he hooked up with Shrek, we follow the young Puss and his best friend growing up in an orphanage. They dream of finding some magic beans which will allow them to climb into the giant's castle in the clouds to steal the goose that lays the golden egg. When older, they each go their own way to find their own life, but later hook up again, together with a female friend, to renew their quest for the beans. However nasty Jack and Jill are also after the beans now ... Voices of Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayak, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Bob Thornton, Amy Sedaris, Constance Marie

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL Ethan Hunt and his slightly suspicious team go undercover to try and clear their name. In true James Bond style, they also need to deal with a baddie intent on global domination. Although a crowd-pleaser, initial reviews have been good. CAST: Tom Cruise, Paula Patton, Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner, Michael Nyqvist, Vladimir Mashkov

SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF After the somewhat unexpected worldwide success of Ritchie's take on Holmes a few years back, a sequel was guaranteed, and here it is. It offers more of the same, as Holmes and Watson take on Moriarty in a plot borrowed from any Bond movie, with Ritchie's trademark action and cinematic effects. Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Noomi Rapace, Rachel McAdams, Jared Harris, Stephen Fry

People key to conserving Cape’s biodiversity People, politics and social trends – and not necessarily environmental issues such as climate change, will have the biggest impact on how well the Cape’s fynbos biodiversity is protected in future from the growing problem of invasive plants and animals. That is the message after a recent scenario planning exercise on the management of invasive species in the CFR, which was conducted by a group of South African and Spanish scientists. Their findings were published in the scientific journal Regional Environmental Change. The study team included Prof Dave Richardson of the Centre for Invasion Biology (CIB) at

SUNDAY LUNCH & DESSERTS R45 Bookings Essential: 044 533 3815 The group identified 29 certainties that will drive the occurrence and spread of invasive alien species in the region and that will affect the capacity of managers to handle such species. A further seven uncertainties were identified that will make future management actions unpredictable. These certainties were classified into seven broad categories, namely political forces, social trends, economic realities, technological advances, regulatory environment, environmental interface and management constraints. Certainties include constancy of funding, the political will to support management actions, the capacity of institutional and private structures to apply the control

Also involved, and lead author of the study, Dr Núria Roura-Pascual of the Centre Tecnologic Forestal de Catalunya in Catalonia, who worked for three years as a postdoctoral researcher at the CIB. “We wanted to predict how, in 50 years’ time, invasive alien plants in the CFR would be managed, and therefore we asked for the input of conservation managers and scientists working in the region,” said Prof Dave Richardson.

efforts, as well as compliance with legislation. “No matter which scenario plays out, these items come out on top every time,” says Richardson. “This shows what a massive impact these issues will have on our capacity to deal with the effects of invasive species on our biodiversity in the future.” “It’s not just political will that influences the outcomes of what we want to do as conservation managers,” Richardson stresses, “we also need the commitment from landowners and conservation managers at all levels to actively take control of their properties and to clear areas effectively.” For more information contact Engela Duvenage at Tel: +27 21 808 2684.

Everyone

Welcome Open 7 days a week

Letter via the Editor Names can be so confusing! So many people refer to Birds of Eden as Birds of Paradise, Birds Paradise, Garden of Eden, Birds of the World and even as World of Birds. So I wondered if it would help to explain why and how Birds of Eden derived its name. At first we were going to call our bird sanctuary Kunjani Gorge, but we changed our mind when the municipality we fall under was re-named The Eden Municipality. There was even talk of The Eden Gate way opening at the N2 Monkeyland turn-off (2km from us). There is no bird sanctuary or bird park named Birds of Paradise, but there is a species of birdnamed Birds of Paradise. Birds of Paradise are members of the familyParadisaeidaeand belong to the order Passeriformes. The majority of species in this family are found on the island of New Guinea and its satellites, with a few species occurring in the Moluccas and eastern Australia. The Birds of Paradise family has forty species in 14 genera. The members of this family are perhaps best known for the plumage of the males of most species, in particular highly elongated and elaborate feathers extending from the beak, wings or head. For the most part they are confined to

dense rainforest habitat. The Birds of Paradise specie is of cultural importance to the inhabitants of New Guinea. But because of this the Birds of Paradise specie is currently threatened with extinction as result of hunting and habitat loss. The trade in skins and feathers of the Birds of Paradise bird has been going on for two thousand years! If these birds are not protected, extinction is inevitable. There is a bird park which features many species of caged birds in Robertson, but this is not remotely similar to Birds of Eden’s set-up. Think jungle, think gigantic dome ….place this jungle inside the dome and there you have Birds of Eden – the World’s largest free-flight (single dome) bird aviary. The World is full of birds, over 10 000 species of birds exist in our World. It is guesstimated that over 100 billion individual birds live in this World called Earth. In our ‘World’ at Birds of Eden we provide a free flying sanctuary (forested home) for 220 species of the World’s birds and Birds of Eden is home to more than 3500 individual birds. The name World of Birds is also often used to describe or refer to us here at Birds of Eden. Please don’t confuse Birds Paradise (in Robertson) with Birds of Eden (Plettenberg bay), and don’t confuse us with World of Birds either. Once you have visited the 3 you will understand why you cannot compare us to these. There is simply no comparison. World of Birds is a bird park in Houtbay near Cape Town, but their birds are in cages and

ours are free. That’s the main, notable and important difference. The second is that they sell their surplus birds and are not against the trade in birds as pets. We agree with the 1st and we don’t condone the latter. We simply don’t sell our birds, instead, we curb naturally their breeding to keep numbers down. World of Birds is the largest bird park in Africa, meaning that they have the largest amount of different species of birds. This does not mean that they are the best in the World, the biggest or most popular, this simply means that they have a large collection of different species of birds about 400 species at present. The birds at World of Birds are however not flying about a single dome sanctuary such as we have at Birds of Eden. Instead, most of the birds at World of Birds live in individual cages or are pinioned or clipped so that they cannot fly away. There is only one Birds of Eden, and we are based in The Crags, and it is the World’s largest single dome free flight aviary. We are located 16km east from the holiday town Plettenberg Bay, so turn off to Monkeyland and Birds of Eden from N2 S33 56' 46.09" E23 29" 8.13" or call us so that we can explain the way. Garden Roots: end of season party and fashion show

The Garden Roots party and fashion show was held this past Saturday at Villa Agusta and what a party it was! Hosted in association with Lo Spuntino, Hola Café and Surf Café and supported by Events and Tents it was a fantastic way to end the season. The December season is a busy time for most Plett locals and one tends to concentrate and business during this time. Friendships and familiar faces get put aside while the holiday-makers enjoy the town. The tourist season always kicks off with a bang for the visitors and now it has ended with a perfect celebration for the locals. Shuttles were available to transfer guests from the Main Beach parking lot to Villa Agusta in Brackenridge and the venue was set for a stunning evening. Rolling green fields and hills created a

beautiful backdrop for the event and the stage, lighting and music were perfectly co-ordinated for a friendly, social gathering. Whilst guests milled around having a drink and catching up after a hectic season, the caterers brought out dishes of sushi, prawns, chicken wraps and assorted cheeses and dips for all to enjoy. Once the fashion show got under way, all eyes focused on the stage. Beautiful flowing dresses and pants and bold prints ruled the show with offerings from Animate, Babette, French Kisses and Lalavie, matched appropriately with accessories by Willemijn Murray. Following the fashion show musician, Yoav set the mood with his music and the dance floor started to fill up. National band, Good Luck put on a rocking performance and DJ Alex Dalais topped off the party mood. The atmosphere was really laidback and festive with excellent music, delicious food and divine fashion! Everyone relaxing and reconnecting after the season months and rejuvenating for the New Year. Look forward to more parties and events from Garden Roots – they are sure to be just as bold and fun! FOR SALE over locker as new R550 + retail scale

Letter via the Editor The following article by News 24 refers...These questions need answers: Is the Garden Route, and particularly Plettenberg Bay, getting its share? Are we being served adequately by those who claim to market us? WESTERN CAPE RAKING IN VISITORS News 24 reports: More travellers are visiting the Western Cape and its attractions than in previous years, Tourism MEC Alan Winde said. Preliminary statistics reveal that a total of 4.21 million passengers arrived at Cape Town International Airport in 2011. "This is 4.16 percent higher than what was achieved in 2010, the year that we hosted the FIFA World Cup," he said. The trend was consistent with the figures for December, when there were 17% more international visitors, he said. Regional visitors increased by 26.8% and domestic visitors by 4.5% last month. There was a sharp increase of visitors to Cape Point, Kirstenbosch Gardens, Boulders Beach and the Table Mountain Cableway over the festive season. More people visited the Overberg region, outside Cape Town, with popular attractions being the De Hoop Nature Reserve, the

seaside village of Arniston and the small town of Napier near Bredasdorp. Winde said more people were visiting the province because of the hard work of the tourism industry and the welcoming attitude of residents. Most international visitors felt the province was safe, according to a snapshot exit poll of 25 people from 14 countries at Cape Town airport on Wednesday. All visitors said they would return and 40% said they would bring their families next time. In 2012, the province would promote itself to travellers from Africa, the Middle East and Brazil, Russia, India and China. It would also continue to market itself to domestic tourists. Winde said his ultimate goal was for tourism to contribute 10% to 15% of the region's gross domestic product by 2014. Tourism Industry Operator Plettenberg Bay

Oriented Birds F.C. Newsfeed Warm Greetings to our supports and community, what a dilemma over the weekend as we saw our game against Cape Town All Stars being called off due to the poor pitch conditions. I won’t dwell much on that as it won’t change the situation we find ourselves in and pointing fingers won’t help either. According to South African Football Association rules and regulations that pitch was not good for football, as the home team we are at fault, we are waiting for SAFA for the ruling/punishment on the matter. We hope by next week that field will be in good shape or we will be forced to move our games to Daine Rugby field/Wittedrift for the remainder of the season and that will cost us and our supporters dearly as we/they have to pay taxi fare to go there. Well our focus is now on this weekend encounter against Mbekweni United in Cape Town Township, Embekweni at 15H00. I wish all my technical team a successful trip as it not easy to travel. Well I’ll leave it there for this week and God Bless you. From Lunga (manager) Follow us on facebook @ Orientedbirds Email: orientedbirds@msncom WILD WATERS Open Daily . An era has passed with the passing of Alderman Pierre Koep to “higher service”. His son, Derek, shared the following at the memorial service. We thought our readers would be interested to learn a little more of this remarkable man who was such a blessing to Plett’s community for so many years.

Pierre Koep

husband to Elna, father to Derek and Jacqui, was born in Antwerp Belgium on the 21st January 1934. He grew up amongst the bombings of the second world war. Though he did not speak often of the war he did mention an incident when he saw a plane dropping bombs virtually into the family’s garden; fortunately they did not go off, but it was definitely a lifelong memory. After the war in 1946 the family immigrated to South Africa, and settled in Blairgowrie, JHB. where he went to Highlands North High School. Upon leaving school, and being interested in Photography and Film making he trained in Europe as a camera technician. A great passion in his life was tennis, and through tennis at the Pirates Club in Greenside he met my mother Elna, They were married in May 1963. Just after being married he met an American businessmen who wanted to make wildlife films in East Africa, he thought it was a great idea, and over 2 years they made, 3 films, mainly about the wildlife in East Africa. My father had the right to one of these films called Africa. We put some photos of him during this time in the service sheet as this was a time of his life filled with adventure. The one of Pierre and Elna having tea in England with a python around their necks shows some of the adventures they had together. They showed the film Africa around England, using a Malayan fruit bat named Dennis, and a python called Wellington as draw cards. It was during the time of these film shows that I was born in 1967 in Worcester. Upon returning to South Africa in 1969 my sister Jacqui was born. The film Africa was also shown on the South African Film circuit in the early to mid 70s. From the mid to late 70s, he was a partner in a concern that filmed horse races, at the Transvaal courses. He also had a camera repair business, and even coached tennis. After coming down to Plett for a few holidays my parents decided to build a holiday house in 1977, and two years later decided to relocate to Plettenberg Bay. We arrived in Plettenberg Bay at the beginning of 1980. My mom and dad bought a health shop in the Yellow Wood Centre

called The Lucky Bean, and this is how they both met a few customers who became lifelong friends. In 1986 he opened a photographic shop that specialised in same day developing and printing, a business which kept him very busy until 1999. Pierre was passionate about sport and contributing to the community and he put a great deal of time and effort into both. Tennis and squash were sports that he played his whole life. Whilst living in England in his 30’s he played doubles in the Queen’s tennis tournament against Lew Hoad (AEF Wimbledon Champ) and forty years of tennis later he was still playing. To his tennis and squash friends, he really did enjoy those inter-provincial tours, and he did genuinely did take pride in putting on the SWD track suit. I think his best year was - 2005 - when he was in the winning teams for both tennis and squash in the over 70 A division. Of course he also did cherish his Thursday doubles, and Saturday club days. Pierre was a active Rotarian, and even became president, and was also involved in the starting of Plett Tourism and trying out ‘Plett Time’. Somehow he also made time to be an active reservist in the police force and rose to the rank of warrant officer, but I think people really became aware of him as a community person when he ran for council in 1989 and became a councillor. A few years later, and the start of the transformation period he became deputy mayor on two occasions. Whilst myself, my sister and mom, had to listen to countless council topics being discussed, both at the dinner table and at the Country Club after Saturday tennis, I always remember him mentioning the reasoning behind council decisions, be they good or bad, and even in the local government of polarised politics, he never personally spoke badly of any council member. He left the council in 1999, but became an alderman in 2000 which he really cherished. After leaving the council he was still community involved writing the popular ‘Councillors Corner’ and ‘Crime watch’ in the local newspapers. He was also given employment as the PR consultant for the upliftment of the Main street, and the relocation of the Municipal Offices. He really enjoyed the challenge of these positions making sure that everything ran smoothly. The Plett Business Chamber also made use of his services, and to them a big thank you. My father first experienced a growth in his abdomen in 1997, and had it successfully removed, it did however re-appear in 2005 and again had to be removed, it was not cancerous at this stage, but the period between operations became

shorter, and the growth became more aggressive and cancerous. His last operation was December 2010, the surgeon mentioned that operating was no longer an option. He did however recover, and tried radiation, and dietary options, all the time believing that the monster within him could be beaten, unfortunately it was not to be. From being the competitive tennis player - with the distinctive hankerchief hat - to the councillor, businessman, and father I always found him to be fair, of course not always right, but fair. He could always be the soul of the party at dinner parties, and the renowned alouhette, cheepy alhoutte song could be heard. My father knew a lot of people and the support from everybody has been overwhelming and much appreciated. My father was not the perfect person, but who is?, He will be sorely missed, and I am proud to have had him as a father, until myself and my sister meet him and my beloved mom again, Godbless.

Tribute to Mike Scholtz

from the Business Chamber Committee Dear Mike Following on a decision taken at the first committee meeting of the Chamber this year which was held earlier this week, we write this letter to you to express our profound appreciation of your invaluable input to the Chamber over the past decade. The small business is the backbone of our society and big business is small business with an extra nought. Your flair for finding something positive in everything that happens has redounded in no small measure to the credit of the Chamber. You conveyed to the Chamber and its members the ingredients for doing good business and this will enure for the benefit of the business persons of Plett for many years to come. Your commitment to the Chamber and business in general in Plett has been unwavering. Your open door policy was unequalled in the commercial history of this town. Your energy, dedication, compassion and enthusiasm for the cause of business in Plettenberg Bay will long be felt in the corridors of business and industry in the Garden Route. We salute you, Mike. Letter via the Editor NOISE POLLUTION PLANES I live at the airport and wonder if anyone else is being driven bonkers by the loud droning planes. Some time ago there were some complaints and something was going to be done about putting a "silencer" on the sky dive plane but if anything it's even louder now! A helicopter has joined forces with the sky dive plane and they drone and rev loudly every day all day backwards and forwards. I heard them in town so you can imagine how absolutely awful it is here. How the people at the proposed business park are going to cope beats me! I guess some people would say "well you live next to an airport so you have to take it"! Well, it will come to that because I have developed ear problems and constant headaches. I'm hoping that enough people will say 'NO MORE', and those making the noise will do something so we don't have to suffer so much. Please Help! Waste tyre Management Plan for SA Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Edna Molewa, has approved a new Integrated Industry Waste Tyre Management Plan which Cabinet is hoping will go a long way in addressing South Africa’s carbon footprint while transforming the sector to benefit previously disadvantaged groups. A Section 21 company known as REDISA won the approval to manage the country’s waste tyres estimated at over 200 000 tonnes a year. REDISA will collect the waste tyres from all over the country, including tonnes from stock piles that are unaccounted for, for use in various recycling processes and for fuel and other energy needs. A national centralised computer system will be set up to capture data on tyres collected and treated, money collected and spent, and jobs created. Currently there is no proper management of waste tyres in South Africa and old tyres are being dumped at landfills, leading to serious environmental and health

Reflections from PAWS

As we start this new year of 2012 (the year of the Dragon!), we at PAWS reflect on the people in this community of Bitou/Plett who have contributed so significantly to the successful work of PAWS and also their unfailing regard for the welfare of the animals around us. The public never fail to support us and encourage us when things are difficult – for this we thank you. In particular, PAWS would also like to thank the vets for the enormous part they all play in seeing that our dogs and cats, etc. are cared for. To Bert and his staff at the Marine Way Clinic, Brendan and Stephan and staff at the Robberg Clinic and Jannie and André and staff at the Plett Vet Clinic, our thanks for your caring support. Jannie and André and their staff will be relocating to their new premises on the Piesang Valley Road, opposite the ‘Pitter Patter’ Nursery School on the 30th January. Their contact details remain the same, i.e (044) 533-9019 or 082 562 9541. We hope the move goes smoothly and that they are happy in their new premises. Dr. Laura Snyman, previously with Marine Way Vet Clinic, is also on the move and will be opening her own practice in The Crags. Our very best wishes to her in her new and exciting endeavour. The Crags Veterinary Clinic, Telephone (044) 534 8038 or 082 805 5519. Her email address is laura@thecragsvetclinic.co.za. Last, but certainly not least, to Heidi Knight and Wags and Whiskers. Heidi has expended an enormous effort into collecting money towards a spay day, organising a special PAWS Fun Day in October last year to raise funds, her Christmas Cake raffle and the purple ribbon campaign she is currently running, all for the good of our animal population. Thank you, Heidi, from all at PAWS. As with Barbara Rolfe, Heidi makes a difference. A request! Please contact either one of the vets or PAWS if you pick up a ‘stray’ dog or cat or lose your pet. So often we are confronted with a situation where a dog or

cat has gone missing and some kind person has found this animal and decided to keep it. We have so many animals still missing

and no way of knowing whether someone else has just decided to keep their ‘new pet’. The public is obliged to contact us or a vet to report the find. PAWS can be reached on 083 287 9917 and the telephone numbers for the vet clinics are: Marine Way Vet Clinic (044) 533 3100 Plett Vet Clinic (044) 533 9019 Robberg Vet Clinic (044) 533 0124 The Crags Veterinary Clinic, (044) 534 8038 or 082 805 5519.

TOUR BUS DRIVERS On Friday 13 Jan at approx 10H15 we were driving to Knysna and were passed at high speed by a Tour bus and when we to the Garden of Eden, we were slowed down by this bus who promptly put on his indicator to turn right and with total disregard for 2 large 'NO RIGHT TURNING" signs, proceeded to cross a double line into their parking when the road was clear. He had obviously been given instructions to take clients there and that was where he was going, irrespective of road rules!! This could have caused an horrific accident as there were vehicles on the road travelling in both directions and he promptly stopped in the right hand lane waiting for traffic to pass before he could turn. He actually stopped completely in line with one of the signs!! He was not only putting his passengers lives at risk, but also all the other road users. He could have added to the list of taxi accidents as his vehicle was the same as a large taxi. It was not long afterwards when a small car passed us - as well as 2 other cars in front of us - on a double barrier line and on a corner. What is wrong with drivers on the roads today? Surely they read the newspapers and see on TV the number of people killed on our roads over the Christmas period. Do they want to be another one on that list?? Of course, where are the traffic cops when you want one? Under a tree with a camera!!! A Plett Motorist We have sent this letter to the Tour company concerned. Ed

Letter via the Editor PROPERTY VALUATIONS. I see on television that there is talk of new property revaluations by the Municipality within the next year. I trust that these valuations will be in line with the depressed market and recent property sales where the properties that have been sold have sold at well below the previous Municipal Valuation. Should you get a new valuation, check with a local Estate Agent as to its present market value and if it is lower than the Municipal valuation you must object strongly in writing. We should all be getting valuations of at least 25% lower than the last one which was done when property prices were at an all time high. Roger Davis. To commemorate her 69th birthday on October 1, 2004, actress/vocalist Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan,s Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of the AARP. One of the Musical numbers she performed was “My Favourite Things” from the legendary movie “The Sound Of Music”. Here are the actual lyrics she used: Maalox and nose drops and needles for knitting, Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings, Bundles of magazines tied up in string, These are a few of my f favourite things. Cadillac’s and cataracts, and hearing aids and glasses, Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses, Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings, These are a few of my favourite things. When the pipes leak, when the bones creak, When the knees go bad, I simply remember my favourite things, And then I don’t feel so bad. Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions, No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions, Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring, These are a few of my favourite things. Back pains, confused brains, and no need for sinning’, Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinning’, And we won’t mention our short, shrunken frames, When we remember our favourite things. When the joints ache, when the hips break,

When the eyes grow dim, Then I remember the great life I’ve had, And then I don’t feel so bad. Ms. Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores.

Letter via the Editor Last night when my daughter finished work at 22h00 she gave a lift to two work colleagues who live in Kwanokuthula. When she drove back on to the N2 a man stepped out into the road and flashed a light into her eyes. She had to stop her vehicle in the middle of the road as she was unable to see. She thought that there was possibly an accident. She pulled off the road and the police officer came to the window and she said “there is no need to shine the light into my eyes as I could not see”. She asked him what the problem was. He wanted to know what she was doing in that

He instructed her to step out of the vehicle, it was a routine check. She was frightened and didn’t want to. He told her to calm down. It was a routine check and she was to step out of the vehicle. He was then joined by three other officers, one of them with a large gun which he pointed at her. She was again asked to step out of the vehicle and open the boot. She did so. They searched the car. She asked the officer to please point the gun elsewhere. She was very frightened. At this time another police officer came to the vehicle and asked what was going on. My daughter told the policeman that there is no need for the gun which was scaring her. She had done nothing wrong. There was no reason for suspicion. The policeman told her to calm down it was for their protection. My daughter could hardly be considered a threat being unarmed and faced with five policemen. Why are the police stopping vehicles without an official road block. Or at least with flashing blue lights evident. How can a police officer expect a young girl on her own to be willing to get out of her vehicle at that time of night. We all know the police have a job to do but this is police harassment. It is totally unacceptable behaviour. We have sent this letter to the SAPS and Community Policing Forum. Ed WANTED WAITERS / WAITRESSES for local restaurant!
