Best of the Best Finalists 2017

Best of the Best: A Year of Change That Remains The Same 2017 brought some exciting changes to our Best of the Best people’s choice awards. For the first time ever, we invited you to nominate your favorites online. Then, we invited you to vote for your favorites online. This streamlined our process greatly and allowed for so many more voters to participate than in the past. In fact, 1,312 voters cast their votes online, while only 54 readers cast their votes using the print ballot. We also changed how you saw the results after each round. For instance, you saw the entire list of nominees this year, rather than just the top five in each category. In this publication, you’re seeing the top three finalists in alphabetical order because we are announcing the winners tomorrow night at a live event at The Destination Theater in Hopewell. The evening will be fun and will celebrate our local businesses for their success. Tickets are still available, so just go to www.progress-index.com/bestofawards and purchase your tickets. In case you didn’t read the previous paragraph, we are also announcing the Best of the Best at our first-ever live event. We will pass out plaques to the winners in each subcategory, and you can join us for hors d oeuvres and nonalcoholic drinks before the ceremony. So many changes! What has remained the same? Well, these winners were chosen by YOU. They always have been and always will be. The Best of the Best is a reflection of the community and as such, it is a time capsule into what is popular with our print and online readers. It is also a great opportunity for businesses who were nominated to share the good news with their customers through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and word of mouth. Businesses also printed flyers with methods to vote and promoted themselves during the nomination and voting rounds. No amount of marketing, however, can get people to vote for a business that they don’t like. Rest assured, the top three finalists in each subcategory have earned the loyalty of their customers and our readers. 2
