Once again we’re delighted to have Barclays sponsoring the Virtual Franchising Awards for 2023. This year, Barclays are sponsoring the Franchisee of the Year category, a category which recognises franchisees which have excelled within their franchise network. We spoke to Stevie Borthwick who tells us a bit about himself and why Barclays have chosen to sponsor the Virtual Franchising Awards 2023.

1. Please tell me a bit about yourself. What is your role with Barclays?

Hi All. My name is Stevie Borthwick and I hold the role as Head of Franchise within Barclays UK. My role involves working with Franchise Brands across the UK to develop relationships and being able to support Franchises with their journeys. I have worked for Barclays for 8 years and previously worked within the Wealth Management & Investments business.

2. Why have you chosen to sponsor the Virtual Franchising Awards 2023?

For me this is a great way of being able to support our Franchise Community and enjoy being part of the awards. It is great to see all of the successes over the course of the year and seeing the impact people are making. There are so many examples of people striving and good luck to everyone.

3. How does Barclays support the franchising sector?

Barclays supports the franchising sector with our expert help and being able to provide Barclays services to support Franchises. We are keen to help so please let us know how we can help. 4. What does Barclays hope to achieve within the franchising sector in the next 5 years?

Barclays are relatively new to the Franchise community and I want to develop our presence and support we can offer. The Franchise community is great to be part of and I want our team to do more to help people achieve their goals.

5. What brands have you worked with in the past and how have you helped them to thrive?

We have helped a number of Brands across different sectors by being able to offer personalised lending support for their Franchises. This allows Franchise Brands to give franchises the confidence of the support available.

6. What is your biggest tip for anyone looking to get into franchising?

Speak to people within the community. Everyone is there to help each other.

7. What are some of your hobbies and interests?

Out with work I love going to watch Sport and in particularly Glasgow Rangers. I also enjoy having a glass of wine and cooking a meal at home with my partner Nicola. .
