Development Update 2017/18
Development Update 2017/18 The top priorities at Regents International School Pattaya will always be to provide our students with the best quality specialist teachers, curricula which will challenge and extend each and every individual, and an enviable range of opportunities which will cultivate their cultural literacy, transferable skills and love of learning. To be a true ‘Gateway to the World’, however, we make a commitment every year to our parents that we will also invest in our facilities – and 2017/18 will be no exception.
Excellence in everything we do. When this next phase of infrastructure improvements is combined with curriculum developments – like our unique performing arts collaboration with The Juilliard School in New York, our pending partnership with MIT and our Global Campus – there is so much for students and parents to be excited about.
Major investments in 2017/18 Our commitment to new and improved facilities for the 2017/18 academic year are as follows:
Music Dept renovation
Final phase of Science Lab renovation
Main Secondary building renovation
New Primary ICT Lab
New Pre-Nursery and Nursery furniture
Boarding House lobby renovation
Swimming Pool bathroom renovation
New projector system in the Globe Theatre
New i-Pads for the Primary School
Music Department Renovation
Our Music Department is the creative hub for all of our wonderful music events and it is only fitting that it not only house the latest music technology but reflect a vibrant learning space. To this end, a new entrance foyer will be built, making for a bright, welcoming first impression; interior suites will be redecorated with new lighting, flooring and colour scheme; and IT infrastructure will be updated.
Expected completion date: October 2017
Science Lab Renovation – Final Phase As we look ahead to our unique collaboration with MIT, our Secondary science students are already enjoying state-ofthe-art laboratories as two of the three phases of renovation have been completed. The final phase will introduce new work surfaces, flooring, lighting and laboratory furniture in the remaining labs. Regents is committed to delivering a 21st century education and our new Science Labs allow students to undertake practical, hands-on experimentation, to improve their laboratory skills and sense of scientific curiosity.
Expected completion date: September 2017
Main Secondary Building Renovation
While our Secondary School never fails to impress visitors with its Eton-esque beauty, we must preserve the substance as well as the style. To this end, all doors and windows in the Clock Tower building will be removed and replaced with the latest tempered safety glass and aluminium models. Meanwhile, classrooms will be repainted, with new blinds, whiteboards and furniture installed.
Expected completion date: November 2017
New Primary School ICT Lab & iPads
Investment in our IT infrastructure continues this year throughout the campus with the priority of creating a new ICT Lab in the Primary School. While there is no substitute for outstanding teaching, as a school we recognize the power of technology to enhance learning. The Lab will accommodate 25 technologically advanced workstations, and new iPads will be purchased and distributed.
Expected completion date: September 2017
New Pre-Nursery and Nursery Furniture As a school, we have shown strong commitment to our youngest students over the last three years and that pattern continues into the next academic year. Following the opening of the new Learners’ Pool in May 2016, our redevelopment of the outdoor play area in April 2016, and our reconfiguration of the Nursery classrooms to allow more independence of movement around curricular areas – our little ones can now look forward to new furniture as befitting their modern learning environment.
Expected completion date: November 2017
Expected completion date: September 2017
Swimming Pool Bathroom Renovation Following the total renovation of the main pool last year, including conversion to a salt water pool, the renovations continue with the bathroom to be fully renovated with new tiling and fittings
Expected completion date: September 2017
New Projector System in the Globe Theatre As our Juilliard Collaboration enters its third year, we are installing a new projector screen in our Globe Theatre. This will further enhance the audio-visual experience in our Theatre, following the thorough overhaul of the sound and lighting systems it received last year.
Expected completion date: September 2017 Boarding Lobby Renovation Regents boarding numbers grew again last year and we are committed to making our boarders’ home away from home as welcoming as it can be. Following a total refurbishment in 2014, we will renovate the lobby in the main Boarding House.
