Kyoka’s Tsunami By Clare Garnett-Spear, Head of Art

Year 13 IB Visual Art student, Kyoka has produced several art works on the theme of Tsunami Kyoka is currently in Year 13 and working towards her final Visual Art exhibition in February next year, whilst also applying for Fine Art degree courses at university. During the course of her IB Visual Art journey, Kyoka has explored the phenomena of tsunamis and their effects on people’s lives in several of her studio pieces: a small painted diptych panel, a mixed media sculptural piece and her most recent large-scale tsunami triptych. Her work has been influenced by a range of artists from very different cultural backgrounds including Japanese printmaker, Hokusai, American abstract Expressionist, Jackson Pollock and contemporary Japanese photographer, Tomohide Ikeya.

A Day of Sport for All By Tom Hart, Head of Secondary PE

‘Love Sport for Life’

On the 17th December, Regents Secondary School Students will be competing in the annual Sports Day. The day will include the traditional track and field events, alongside the X-Games which includes fun races and activities such as piggy back racing and a tug of war. The Regents Sports Day procession is due to start at 10:00am, with the first races beginning at 10:30am. We hope to see you all there supporting, so why not support and participate in style? With the introduction of the new House system, we would like to unveil the new House t-shirts, available from the Finance Office, from the 10th December at a price of 350 Baht. The new House t-shirts

are due to be used for all future House events and will be utilised as sports kit for all House sporting events, starting with what we hope will be a wall of colour on Sports Day. The big question is whether any of the other Houses can challenge Blue House strongly enough, to push them off their leading House position as a result of their outstanding performance in the Loy Krathong events. Good luck to all young athletes and enjoy your day of sport…

Regents Celebrates Loy Krathong By Rhiannon Hobson, Round Square Assistant

The school was awash with colour on 20th of November as Regents celebrated the beautiful Thai festival of Loy Krathong. The festival marks the end of rainy season and provides an opportunity to ‘float away’ any negative thoughts and to feel thankful for everything we have in life. Students and Teachers alike arrived in the morning dressed in traditional Thai costumes, ready to take part in an afternoon of representing their House in a number of events, while learning more about the culture in which we live. House Krathong’s were floated in the pool at lunchtime, showcasing the students’ elegant design skills

and impressive teamwork. After the Krathong floating, Students and Staff moved to the Globe where House teams played ‘Hit the Can’, directing one another speaking only in Thai. This was followed by students (and some Staff!) performing traditional Thai dances, with participants also taking part in the Noppamas beauty contest. It was a wonderful day enjoyed by all who took part. A special mention goes to Blue House who secured a landslide victory over the whole contests, winning the most House points.

Adventures in Boarding By Steve Rand, Head of Boarding

Grab some fun! Here’s something we bet you didn’t know about Boarding. We are very happy for day students to join our weekend activities and have some great experiences in our Boarding community. We particularly welcome day students from Years 4 to 10 to join our programme from Friday immediately after school to Saturday evening, though we can be flexible

about arrangements. Occasionally we will arrange special weekends for our Primary students where they will participate in a trip designed exclusively for them. If you would like to benefit from our Boarding community in this way, take a look at what we have planned for weekends this year in the table below.
