LOWER SCHOOL division portrait
Through a unique mix of challenging academics and the values of the Sacred Heart, Regis empowers boys of all faiths to become lifelong scholars and authentic, compassionate leaders. Lower School students at Regis develop the foundational knowledge, skills and passion for learning they need to be successful throughout their time in on our campus and beyond. Regis students consistently score above the ERB norms for Independent schools, attributable to Regis’ superior Lower School faculty, 45% of whom hold Master’s degrees or higher. The Lower School years at Regis provide a nurturing environment that supports each student as their potential unfolds in light of the Sacred Heart Goals and Criteria. Teachers work closely with students both individually and in small groups through a workshop model to ensure differentiate learning throughout the curriculum. A Lower School boy’s day is active both morning and afternoon. From daily P.E. and recesses to partnering with their friends and classmates to build meaningful relationships through play in the classroom, active learning is ever-present both indoors and out. Throughout their Regis Experience, Lower School students hone public speaking skills, enabling them to act with confidence and purpose. Students also have the opportunity to participate in Regis’ sports programs, instilling a sense of friendly competition and camaraderie with fellow students. As a pivotal part of Sacred Heart education, students learn the importance of social justice through at least two dedicated community service days during the school year, along with multiple opportunities to support the Greater Houston community through service drives on campus. In the Sacred Heart tradition, students are educated in the Catholic faith while immersed in a culture of racial and religious diversity and inclusion, building social awareness.
