Hälsocenter Proposal: Make children’s medical services fun and available in IKEA stores across the globe. Using WELL standards, this building improves air quality and prevents the spread of disease. Location: IKEA, Conshohocken, PA, USA Studio: Design 6, Collaboration with Interior Designers, Spring 2018 Team: Myself, Carey McCullian & Lauren Dunne
A sculptural wall divides the exam space and the waiting area while providing a play area with a sensory element. The noise of the play area is counterbalanced by the hanging acoustical sculptures, which also serve to block views to the waiting room from inside the store.

Imagine My Thoughts: Utilizing different drawing techniques can open the mind up to see beyond the visible. Acetone prints are a quick way for me to piece together perspectives and create something new. I learned this technique in my Visual Journal course, and ended up using it to apply materiality to my final presentation board for Design 7. Location: Copenhagen, Denmark Semester: Fall 2018
Regeneration Proposal: Create a gathering place at the end of Broad Street that connects the new community of the Navy Yard to the rest of Philadelphia. Location: Navy Yard, Philadelphia, PA, USA Competition: HOK Futures, Spring 2018 Team: Myself & Dillan Hobby
In addition to providing an exhibition and gathering space for the public, the building will also perform regeneratively to improve the surrounding natural environment. The rainwater collection system in the roof will reduce the need for municipal water supply. An oxygenation system built into the dock will help bring marine life back to the industrial area, beautifying the waterfront. The dock will also serve as an overflow chamber to prevent flooding.

Observe My Thoughts: Observing the world around us through sketching and painting allows us to slow down and soak in the details. This watercolor was painted on the beaches of Nice as the sun was setting. As I was painting, I was able to see how this change in light affected my perception of the buildings and the space. I also captured the cliffside on my film camera before and after the sun set, and the atmosphere is very different. Location: Nice, France Semester: Fall 2018
PRODUCTION
RELAXATION
COLLABORATION
These spaces are on both the inside and outside of the pods, allowing individuals to work on the outside when a larger group occupies the inside.
Benches on the exterior are a place to take a break from working. The blue-green glass has a stressreducing effect.
Research shows that sitting across a corner from someone is the most productive working position. Thus, the triangular table is optimal for group work.
This project was designed over a 10-day period as a competition for the Architectural Glass Institute of Philadelphia. The structure is made entirely out of glass and provides views from one end of the library to the other while still providing the level of privacy needed for groups to meet and discuss. The collaborative learning pods are designed to minimize eye strain and maximize productivity, while also providing places for students to relax and get away from their work when they need to.
Frame My Thoughts: Rarely do humans experience building facades the way we, as architects, design them. Sitting and sketching a building in its context can tell you a lot about it. This sketch uses the foliage of a garden as a frame for the building behind. What started as a study of proportion ended up being a study of light, shadow, and materiality. Location: Bibliotekshaven, Copenhagen, Denmark Semester: Fall 2018
Langelinie Proposal: Create a farm-to-table restaurant and cafe in the middle of a developing industrial pier. The outdoor stepped garden is a public space facing south in the summer, while the greenhouse is a warm, “hygge space in the winter time for patrons to sit amongst the plants. Location: Langelinie Quay, Copenhagen, Denmark Studio: Design 7, Fall 2018
Explore My Thoughts: Exploring new drawing techniques has pushed me out of my comfort zone and taught me a lot about light and shadow. I like to study how light pierces through dark spaces rather than how it casts shadows on light spaces. While visiting Peter Zumthor’s Therme Vals, I was able to capture its eerie light quality through drawing in white conte crayon on black paper. Location: Peter Zumthor’s Therme Vals, Switzerland Semester: Fall 2018
Race to Zero Proposal: Create a multi-family housing building that is heated and cooled entirely passively. Reach net zero energy production and introduce programs and food production to regenerate the community of Sharswood. Location: Sharswood, Philadelphia, PA, USA Competition: Solar Decathlon, Spring 2019, In progress Team: Myself, Alex Asghar, Tyler Stull, Freddie Ramirez III, Andrew Sauers, Christopher Marucci

The neighborhood of Sharswood is historically disadvantaged and continues to struggle with poverty. However, the people of Sharswood are resilient. Programs such as Philly Peace Park and the Neighborhood Action Committee bring the community together to fight for positive change. 20% below poverty line 40% below poverty line

We designed a multi-family housing building that includes a co-op program, in which residents are automatically enrolled and community members can join as well. They will have access to a coworking space, a wellness center, and residents will grow their own food to sell in a farmer’s market within the building. Thus, on top of reducing bills through passive systems and optimizing resources, the building becomes a source of revenue for its residents, a space for the community to gather, and a space for self-improvement that everyone in Sharswood will have access to.

Capture My Thoughts: There is something special about taking the time to line up the perfect shot that helps you see buildings, people, and landscapes in an entirely new light. My travels abroad gave me the opportunity to explore so many new places and capture their essence through a lens. When I take photos, I am interested in color, materiality, light and shadow, and the quirky details that often go unnoticed in buildings. Location: Various Locations Semester: Fall 2018
