MAKEUP ARTIST INC.
Nataly has been in the industry for about 8 Years. She graduated from school early and ventured into the Beauty industry. She did various courses of study in Bridal and Fashion make-up and Beauty. Some where along the way, Nat decided to gain experience in other areas of industries like sales, F&B, business and management. She even went back to school and did science! However, she soon realized that her heart really was in Make-up. Eventually, she followed her heart and set up her own make-up studio, Cameleon Beauty. She still has the motto to be constantly learning, but definitely putting her foot forward in Beauty and Makeup. Her studio provides services that involves beauty procedures, beauty consultancy, bridal make-up, fashion make-up and also extends her arms to Mobile hair and make-up.. She has contributed to many shoots in this issue, the first one being Desperate Housewives (Pg 15).
Sha has been in the industry since 1990. She started off as a model with mannequin models, appeared multiple times as cover girl for various magazines like Female & Go Magazine. She was also named the face to watch by Her World. After her modeling stint, she became a flight stewardess with Singapore. Her love for make-up drove her to take a diploma from Cosmoprof. That is where it all started. Her career in make-up took off with Fiddler on the Roof, screened at Victoria Concert Hall. She met Roger Jenkins there, who made her head of make-up for his Drama Company. She did a stint with Theatreworks and worked on various theatre projects. Sha then went on to become director of a bridal company in make-up. In between all this, she still did make-up for various magazines like Style, Catalog, 8 Days, ETC. Stumbling upon make-up to sell was by chance. She sells her products online as well as distributes her products to various shops in Singapore. In this issue: Another Leading Lady (Pg 47)

Laila writes about magazines and models, latest trends and fashion updates. She is currently a year three student in Temasek Polytechnic Design School, working towards her diploma in Apparel Design & Merchandising. Editors Note
There is nothing more I love than entering into a new place making new discoveries, and pretty much fending for myself. This fashion folio documents the journey i’ve taken since touching down in this foreign land entering a new environemnt and gaining new experiences. Its was hard at first, having to leave all my established contacts in Singapore and starting over again here in Melbourne, I do believe i’ve come a long way. the following spreads are the emerging sprouts of newly planted seeds ith much more to come in the following year, and hopefully the next issue.

AFTER 99 Therry Street Melbourne Vic 3000
the name of the shop somewhat doesn’t stand out when i walked past it a couple of months back. initially i just thought it told me that it opened after 11am. but unlike it’s name, the content within the shop really sticks to you and gives you much after thought. pun definitely intended. the shop came about after phoebe munro visited south africa and stumbled upon beautiful hand-made products made by the locals out of recycled materials and what one would call rubbish. 4 years in, the shop is now filled with other interesting and intricate objects from all around the world, from mexico to cambodia as well as made locally in australia. phoebe always knew she wanted to open a shop even when she was in university doing media communications. even though handling the shop has nothing to do with what she studied in school, she’s highly passionate about what she has going for her now: collecting handmade and organic items, as well as what she likes. what she looks to be doing in the future, is to focus more on working with the locals in africa. “its just how they have the ability to make something out of nothing to survive; make a living.” you can tell from her voice that this is one person who has truly put thought into what the future looks like for her. the shop is filled with things like newspaper-paperbags, metal trinkets, tribal beads and accessories, and loads of other unique things. i decided to pose a question about what would be the perfect give for someone having a hen party. before she could answer, i spotted a paper mache chicken sculpture which would be perfect. before we knew it, we were spotting hens and chickens everywhere in the shop. from bowls made out of chicken stock packaging, to a small hen made out of paper tubes. the freedom of working for herself in the shop is that she can take time off to source around for more goods. she is doing a good thing bringing the unknown to the mediocrity of victoria market, where her shop is located nect to (therry street). many people patronizes her shop. from kids to grandmothers, as well as homeless people dragging their ragged blanket around with them. “just today, a bald guy walked into my shop and told me to touch his bald head. he started telling me his life stories.” i guess that’s what you get for being such a laidback sweety who is open to almost anything.

A disquieting loneliness came into my life, but it induced no hunger for friends of longer acquaintance: they seemed now like a salt-free, sugarless diet. ~Truman Capote, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, 195
