o you ever get bored of games? Puppies never do! It’s how they learn about the world. Lion cubs playing rough and tumble is the same, and it’s no different for humans. Games have always been an important way to learn skills or how to behave, whether playing hide-and-seek to train for hunting, using plastic bricks to design amazing machines or using game money to learn about buying and selling. Your brain gets a rush of excitement when you learn a new skill or reach a new level. That’s why it’s sometimes difficult to stop playing. Hide-and-seek was first described by an ancient Greek writer 2,000 years ago, but probably dates back to early humans grunting, ‘Ready or not, here I come!’ to their hidden friends.
