SUNDANCE GRILL II has the Ambience to
Suit Any Mood By shawn domingues
Nestled among the trees in the Waterford harbor marina, Sundance grill ii (800 mariners Drive in Kemah) is accessible by car or boat and offers water views with spectacular sunsets and plenty of outdoor seating options. the palapa area is heated in the winter and cooled by large fans in the summer; the tables on the deck by the pool have individual umbrellas to shield the sun. Surrounded by sailboats, there’s not a bad seat in the house – or “outside the house,” so to speak. the dining room also offers views of the marina and there are several areas available to host weddings, rehearsal dinners, Christmas parties, reunions, anniversaries, corporate events, or any private party. banquet packages can be customized to fit your needs and/or budget. Paula Price has been the event coordinator for more than four years, and she works closely with clients to ensure their event goes smoothly and their guests are happy. “i love being a part of making a memory that will be cherished forever,” said Price.
owner hans mair was born and raised in Salzburg, austria, and worked as a chef in the bahamas for many years; as a result, the menu at Sundance grill ii offers a variety of items from german dishes (like the Weinerschnitzel or Jaegerschnitzel) to Caribbean fare (such as Shrimp or Crab Compechana or the Shrimp bimini). mair has been in the restaurant business for 48 years, working as the operator of houston’s legendary fine dining establishment, vargos until 1995 when he opened the first Sundance grill in Seabrook. Located in the Kemah/Seabrook channel, the original Sundance grill was a local hot spot for more than 13 years until hurricane ike blew in and destroyed the venue beyond repair. Luckily, Sundance grill ii was already in full swing by that time, and mair was able to concentrate all of his efforts on the remaining location at Waterford harbor. “We value our customers, and customer service is our number one priority. While we pride ourselves on offering a fine dining experience and serving only the freshest ingredients and highest quality of food, we also want our guests to feel comfortable and enjoy a relaxing atmosphere as well,” said mair.
Now in its 13th year, Sundance grill ii has been a popular destination for special occasions like mother’s Day, easter, valentine’s Day, birthdays and anniversaries, but with their daily specials (Spaghetti & meatballs on mondays, Steak and Shrimp on tuesdays, Shrimp Platter on Wednesdays, Prime rib on thursdays, or the Catfish Platter on Fridays) and happy hour specials monday through Friday, Sundance grill is also affordable. they have a group of regulars who come in just about every day of the week. the Champagne brunch on Sundays has been popular for many years. guests enjoy the four-course meal with champagne or a mimosa, and they also have a Sunday brunch menu with items like the popular eggs benedict, hanzee’s Crab Cakes or the Steak and egg entrée. - Continued on Page 17

REVOLUTIONARY ART Featured Artist: MICHELLE BOEHM
By Kelley dawson michelle boehm creates wearable art meant to decorate a person’s body instead of a wall.
boehm’s one-of-a-kind, “junk-to-jewelry” and “rocks-to-riches” pieces exemplify repurposed art. her prolific imagination allows the ordinary to become extraordinary. She told, “i enjoy working with metals and stones, and i also love to repurpose things to create unique designs. i collect and use lots of different items like bullets, silverware, vintage and broken jewelry, old buttons, and belts. almost anything has potential, really.”
boehm also enjoys working with rough stones. She said she recently began working in lapidary arts; meaning cutting and polishing stones. “i have a small set up in my garage where i can cut and polish my own cabochons to use in my jewelry; which is very rewarding,” expressed boehm.
Cabochons are polished stones with a typically convex form and flat on the bottom. boehm’s family contributed to her artistic destiny. She shared, “i’m a Junker. i think it’s from my dad. it’s a neat thing to take that from him.”
additionally, her mother designs jewelry and her stepfather’s garage houses an enormous rock cutting equipment setup. She recounted a camping trip which her entire family was able to attend. boehm’s mother brought many crafts such as woodburning and bead looming worried that everyone would go nuts without something to do. boehm joked regarding bead looming, “it’s too much counting for me.” She instead shaped wire crafts and discovered a new passion. boehm and her mother bought magazines and further taught themselves wire techniques.
referring to herself as an “aDD artist,” boehm continued finding other medium endeavors. She tried her stepfather’s rock cutting equipment. She was hooked. boehm’s husband surprised her with her own saw, grinder, and polisher setup for their Friendswood home.
boehm grew up in michigan in an area she described as a good place to rock hunt and beach comb. She maintains her treasure hunts in thrift and antique stores, shooting ranges for bullets, and even in her own backyard. “i get repurposed objects anywhere i can. - Continued on Page 20

there is something so satisfying about taking someone's old and broken junk or picking up a rough and dirty rock lying on the ground in my backyard and turning them into something beautiful,” declared boehm.
her creations embody old World metalsmithing craftmanship and exceptional lapidary skills. boehm stated she can work with and engineer things as complicated as chainmail. She said she finds inspiration in found objects as well as commissioned pieces. “it helps spark inspiration when designing something custom such as a memorial piece or for a wedding. even an art show; having a deadline is an extra kick in the butt,” stated boehm. She added, “it is nice to know someone will cherish and appreciate a piece especially the extra details like hand-painted beads.”
boehm informed during an art show, the variety of different pieces so unique from one another gives the appearance of more than one artist and begs the question from many folks, “Who all makes this stuff?” to which she replies, “it’s just me.” boehm revealed, i’m waiting for next thing to pop in my head to move me forward to something new.”

For 45 years, galveston historical Foundation’s Dickens on the Strand festival has highlighted downtown galveston’s victorian-era architecture while providing a one-of-akind holiday destination filled with the sights and sounds of Charles Dickens’ work. this year’s event continues that tradition with new entertainers and events, returning favorites, and family-friendly programming. this year’s festival begins Friday, November 30 with free admission to Fezziwig’s beer hall from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and continues with ticketed admission Saturday, December 1, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, December 2, from 12 to 6 p.m.
tickets purchased before November 30 are $13 for adults and $7 for children ages 7-12. tickets purchased at the gate are $15 for adults and $9 for youth. Discounted tickets for ghF members are available for $10 in advance or $12 at the gate. tickets are available online at www.dickensonthestrand.org, by calling, 409-765-7834 or at all area randall’s stores beginning November 5. attendees in victorian costumes receive $8 entry.
“this year marks the 45th anniversary of Dickens on the Strand. our holiday festival highlights the wonderful era of Charles Dickens in a backdrop of some of the nation’s finest victorian architecture,” states ghF executive Director, Dwayne Jones. “everyone who comes to our event shares in the beginning of the holiday season where the spirit of a Christmas Carol fills the streets. Join us for our annual festival of costumes, food, and entertainment.” the annual holiday street festival, based on 19th-century victorian London, features parades, non-stop entertainment on multiple stages, strolling carolers, roving musicians, bagpipers, jugglers, and a host of other entertainers. Costumed vendors peddle their wares from street stalls and rolling carts laden with holiday food and drink, victorian-inspired crafts, clothing, jewelry, holiday decorations, and gift items.
three descendants of Charles Dickens will grace the festival as ghF welcomes oliver ‘ollie’ Dickens, a great-great-great-grandson; Lucinda Dickens hawksley, a great-great-great-granddaughter; and Jane Dickens monk, a great-great-granddaughter. all descendants will be at numerous events throughout the weekend.

“We have corn hole, washers and giant Jenga,” she said. “it’s a perfect spot to enjoy the nice weather.” For those who love both beer and wine, Paradise tropical Wines allows for a mix of tastings of beer, wine and wine smoothies.
“You may not know what you want or like, and we allow you to experience wine and craft beer in a judgment-free environment,” michele said. “Drinking wine (or beer) should be fun!” Prior to michele and her husband Sal opening Paradise tropical Wines, they had tasted the unique blended wine and fell in love with it when they first tasted it, michele said.
“Within 48 hours of trying it, we knew this was something we had to bring back to texas,” she said.
PtW exclusively offers fruit wine created at the Florida orange groves Winery in St. Petersburg, Florida. the wines are made with 100% pure tropical fruit and none of the wines contain grapes or grape blends. “there are 4 to 9 pounds of fruit per bottle,” michele said.
the Florida winery uses a special fermentation, aging and bottling process and each wine tastes like the juice it is made from. all of the fruit wines are also free of tannins and gluten and there is no added sugar or sulfites. tannins are derived from the skins, stems and seeds from the grapes used to produce the wine. the natural quality of the wine was an ultimate attraction to the wine, michele said. She explained she is allergic to tannins and cannot consume regular wines. traditional red wines are in contact with the grape for a longer period of time, which is why they tend to have higher tannins. “Sal didn’t even like wine, but he loves this wine! We really do have something for everyone here,” michelle said. “99 percent of people who try it, love it. it’s unique.”
Paradise tropical Wines is open Sunday through thursday from noon to 6 p.m. and from noon to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. this tasting room and boutique offers private party opportunities after the regular business hours for groups of 8 to 20 people. the cost is $20 per person and includes four half glasses of wine or a mixture of beer, wine and wine smoothies. PtW’s boutique offers thoughtful gift options for drink lovers as well. they carry vivajennz Wine Purses and totes, SWig shatterproof glassware, coastal cork cages, Lolita hand-painted wine glasses and custommade gift baskets. as an added bonus, guests can take their beer or wine drinks to go while perusing other local businesses nearby.
“We have loved being a part of the Kemah Lighthouse District. as a local business, we fit in well with the casual water-front crowds,” michele said. “We encourage everyone to come by for a fun and unique experience! Welcome to Paradise!”

CELIS BREWERY Reintroduces
World’s First Dubbel Coffee Porter
Celis Brewery is releasing its seasonal Celis Dubbel Coffee Porter on tap and, for the first time, offering the beer in cans. The recipe, developed by Christine Celis in 2014, is the world’s first Dubbel Coffee Porter. It is brewed using international cold-pressed coffee from Austin-based Summer Moon Coffee Bar, certain to appeal to individuals who enjoy coffee and beer alike.

“It blew our minds how quickly we sold out of our Dubbel Coffee Porter last fall,” says Christine Celis, founder of Celis Brewery. “It is an incredibly popular beer. To make sure we have enough of it this year, we increased our production. Lots of people asked for it in cans. We heard you loud and clear. This is a delicious coffee porter brewed with Guatemalan and Mexican coffee beans.”
Celis Dubbel Coffee Porter, ABV 7%, is brewed using Belgian dubbel yeast, along with Hallertau and Millenium hops. It has lush aromas of dry fruit with caramel-malt and chocolate. It is light in bitterness balanced with a hint of sweetness. The full-flavored porter has pleasant tastes of subdued berries, dark malts, and equal amounts of coffee and cocoa from the infusion of the coffee blend. It is a robust yet smooth, rich-bodied beer with light carbonation and a gorgeous creamy head. It is a perfect cozy beer for the festive months of fall and winter. The Celis porter pairs really well with seasonal dishes and holiday parties. The acidity of the coffee married with the roasty malt flavors enhance the caramelized deliciousness of a holiday ham. The berry and cocoa flavors of the porter are an excellent accompaniment to smoked brisket. Flavorful Stilton and blue cheeses are delicious with the dark contrast of the porter. For those who enjoy black coffee with desert, this coffee porter is a match made in heaven with dark chocolate cakes. Celis Dubbel Coffee Porter is available on draft and in cans across Texas. Ask for it at your favorite bars, restaurants, and stores. The limited-production, seasonal craft beer is available until it runs out.

FEATURED BARTENDER: PETE
SCENE HAPPY HOUR GUIDE
MAIN 101 Grill and Bar: 101 E. Main St. • La Porte
how long have you been a bartender + how long at Main 101? i have been bartending off and on since i was 18. i stopped for about 6 years and went into retail management. i have been here at main 101 as the bartender for about 6 months now.
What do you love about working at Main 101? What i love about working at main 101 are the regulars who have become like family to me, as well as an awesome staff.
YOuR favorite day of the week to work at Main 101? & why? my favorite day to work at main101 is thursday, we have half price drinks all day and a live Jazz saxophonist. Needless to say, with good sports good music, and my awesome regulars, a good time is inevitable!
Are there any new drinks or promotions you're excited about? my signature drink is my old fashioned, which has grown very popular. i've done a lot of research on this cocktail, which has several different ways to make it, and i have taken a piece of each version and made it my own.
What do you do when not at work? as much as i love creating cocktails, during my free time i am a self-proclaimed beer connoisseur. i love to hop around to different local breweries in the houston area, and eat lots of good food. it is safe to say i am a foodie as well.
• November 2018
The most rewarding part of your job (emotionally)? the most rewarding part of my job is seeing the guest's reactions to the different techniques used to make my craft cocktails. and then seeing their faces light up when they taste my creations.
5 words that describe you: Five words that best describe me would probably be genuine, respectful, hard-working, and ambitious.
What do you love aout the Bay Area? the best thing i like about the bay area is that there is so much to do. With the way it is growing, there are a lot of good places to eat, along with great bars, and breweries. So i never get bored.
Best tip you ever got: the biggest tip i have ever received was $600. i was bartending for the lunch shift at a Papas restaurant and a gentleman finished his ice tea and shrimp po boy and left $600. to this day i have no clue as to why he was so generous.
What inspires you? all of my inspiration comes from my parents. i am very proud of the person i am today, and it was all because of the wonderful parents that raised me with respect, and good moral values. i like to think i have turned in to the good people person i am because of them.

deCOMPRess - We were in need of a nice quiet place to UNWiND and vino e Formaggio was the place. this new spot on the SCeNe is coming up on their one-year anniversary, surviving a strip center upgrade of i-45 proportions. With their “stylish interior, excellent service, large wine list, live music and great food,” we went with the cheese plate, amber beer and glasses of red to go along with greg Stephens serenading an acoustic assortment of classic americana covering Dr. hook, Jackson brown, James taylor, timothy b. Schmidt and much much more. greg’s vocals are amongst the area’s finest and this evening, he was experimenting with a vocalizer for some fun. i’ve jammed with Stephens at the open mics at the Cock-eyed Seagull and discovered the hard way during the jam that he Greg Stephens @ plays not merely the 3-4 Vino e Formaggio chord progressions, but managed to squeeze in the entire circle — making music with Stephens can be a challenge if you’re attempting to play along on the 6 or 12 string, but perhaps easier if you’re joining him on bass, percussion, or keys. regardless, vino e Formaggio & Stephens — a good pairing…..
it’S a WraP - holiday season is upon us. time to reflect and take stock of what we’ve accomplished this year, and to spend time with friends and families. i’ve enjoyed sharing time with many of you out and about on the place we call the SCeNe and looking forward to catching up with some good local live music in the weeks ahead. C’ya our there!

TOuR sTOP CLeAR LAKe - “hot ticket” - were the words roland used to describe Sons of texas at Scout bar. i think he described it perfectly about this bluesy metal band. in their words, “Sons of texas was spawned in mcallen, Sons of Texas @ Scout Bar texas, a valley town without the music legacy of austin or arlington. the scene vibes “music for music’s sake” with metalcore bands, blues-rock bands, and straight up rock n’ roll bands swapping members and sharing bills. Sons of texas solidified in 2013 around a lineup of local all-stars. the group is comprised of mark morales (vocals), mike villarreal (drums), Nick villarreal (bass), Jon olivarez (rhythm guitar), and Jes De hoyos (lead guitar). Despite being just in their mid-20s, never having recorded an album, and having only existed for about a year, the guys play with seasoned authenticity and fiery brilliance. in my words, i hadn’t heard a band play this all together locally since the evening theory of a Dead man came into town. on the sound board, reuben had this band dialed in perfectly and alex gave the band a big stage full light treatment making for a stellar evening. it was a full evening of music. We arrived in time to check in on Driven With insanity out of Sante Fe. earlier in the evening was black market tragedy from baytown. We had covered DWi (members include blayze Dawson, Logan Dawson and Driven With Insanity @ adam alvarado) as they were emerging onto the local live music SCeNe in 2013. Ferociously intense Scout was they way i remembered them back then Bar which appears true to this day. We’ve missed the black market tragedy set, but have covered them recently in the SCeNe, impressed with their international caliber of live performances along with their down-to-earth “Local hometown friendly.” i got to chat with the band (anthony Jones {guitar}, vali reinhardt {vocals}, Joel hayter {Drums}, matt reinhardt {bass}) at their merch table and really like the recipe they’ve come up with for doing what they like making music… i believe we’ll someday get to see bmt on the big stage at a large local festival someday in the future. to be continued.... - Continued on Page 38

Velvet Punch @ Jackie’s Brickhouse
LOOSE NOTES: Continued From Page 41
VeLVeT PuNCh - With baseball playoff out of the way for another season, it was time to check out the party band, and Jackie’s brickhouse was the spot where we caught velvet Punch for the first time. this houston-based dance band put on a show that was crisp and clean. their performance and playlist included classic ’80s, Disco, motown and r&b tunes from the past, and current hits, too, had no problem at all getting everybody up and moving to the groovin’. this band captures nicely, the true essence, soul and emotion of each song they perform. this attention to detail brings the audience back to a time and a place, and stirs up all of those memories of when they heard these songs for the first time. Saying the same thing differently, of interest to me was how listeners would think this is a loud band while they carry the tune at a comfortable 107db. Listeners think they’re loud because they’re play loud songs with crisp and clean accuracy... Somethings to think about.
POWeRBALL FeVeR - Unfortunately, i didn’t win the huge jackpot and chances are neither did you. however, i was able to get the next best thing and you can too, which would be an evening at t-bone tom’s with hanna’s reef playing on the Landshark stage. Founded in 2002, this texas born and raised band has been gracing stages in beach bars, festivals, and private parties all along the gulf Coast. their signature high energy “beach” sound has been entertaining folks ever since. incorporating elements of country, calypso, and pure pop and rock, the band’s original music has been a mainstay of Parrot heads, sailors, and beach lovers throughout the country, thanks in large part to internet radio stations, and radio margaritaville. their live show provides the perfect backdrop for an “escape to the islands.” they are one of the few bands in the nation to combine steel drums, lead guitar, and a kick-ass rhythm section into their show. What i like about this band is their resilience. Despite the loss of the late bud byram, the late bobby Summers, and the late troy allan, hanna’s reef has been able to keep the music alive with a rebuilt lineup including: Jerry Diaz out on front, mark mireles (steel drums, guitar & vocals), howard mcmichael (steel drums(, trey Newmiller (drums), earl Sanders (percussion), Nick montou (bass) and heli martinez (guitar). “as a band, hanna’s reef draws on a diverse musical background to produce an original style they call “texas beach music.” a veteran rhythm section provides a rock-n-roll beat that accompanies the tropical sounds of steel drums and congas. Diaz rounds out each song with his own personal brand of storytelling and has accomplished five CDs under their belt. off the top of my head and locally speaking, only ezra Charles, and the hunger have as many. i scored two of the band’s recent albums on a beach in mexico and rum Drinks & Sandy beaches, have totally enjoyed both and strongly recommend either as holiday gifts. You may not have won the huge lotto, but you still can score some mighty fine music from Hanna’s Reef Jerry Diaz and hanna’s reef. @ T-Bone Tom’s - Continued on Page 39

hARBOR hALL ReVeRB - i had always wondered how live music would sound at the South Shore harbor resort, a place with the hard surfaces and high ceilings. in my head, a reverberant cathedral came to mind. and so we ventured to this League City gathering spot to catch a band i often use for calibration, Wood & Wind. i was taken by surprise as the acoustic haven i had envisioned was jam-packed with baseball playoff fans and early halloween adult partners creating background level sound levels starting at a whopping 97 db. Normally, i would say that the music would be a washout, but on this evening, bobbie and Steve (joined by longtime guitar virtuoso, Dalton Wheeler) held ground superbly and tastefully by bringing flutist aaron Dunlop on stage and with moderate amplification, regained sonic control of the situation. i was impressed and intrigued enough to mark this locale for a music listening follow up. a surprise guest in the audience was David Schwope who has been traveling a lot recently. it was good catching up with Schwope and look forward to catching up with this guitar minstrel down the road. to be continued....

RAisiNG MONeY FOR The Kids - is what we’ve been covering at the annual houston Livestock rodeo each spring. the event always has great live music shows with plenty of libations “for the kids.” events on this magnitude are quite the undertaking, and in recent years, the SCeNe has connected with the houston metro go texan NaSa/Clear Creek / Friendswood Sub Committee checking out their annual fundraiser, ghosts and goblins Who Cook. this adult-only event for the big kids was truly a hoot with folks in full costume attire, mountains of great food, and plenty of silent auction items to bid on. i know this spring, we will see many of these good people in their western wear and smiling faces. in october, it was all makeup, masks, and musing if you actually knew anybody. trick or treat!!! - Continued on Page 40

ALMOsT ThANKsGiViNG - Which is what happened in texas City. a year ago, first responders were working the deep flood waters from hurricane harvey, and things simply were a mess. this year in october, under bright sunny skies and cool dry breezes, the community gathered together throwing down an exceptionally fine First texas City music Festival to honor and celebrate local first responders. Complete with old fashion bake sales, cold beer and bbQ, the bands covered the span of Country & Western, Texas City Music Festival bluegrass and Jazz. many of the music talent were well connected the the bay area bluegrass association that plays regularly at the Johnny arolfo community center in League City. Quality music for a quality cause! Well done!
TeXAs eQuuseARCh FuNdRAiseR - When it comes to answering the call, there is no group that does so better than tim miller and the texas equusearch organization, who carries on search and rescue, no matter the outcome. the SCeNe has covered fundraisers for this local organization for years. a lot has changed, yet so much remains the same. hats off to John barrera for stepping up into the role of event manager that brought in a cool six-figures. it was great seeing Jackie Powell and all of the familiar and new friendly faces who made it out to be a part. the folks at Jackie’s brickhouse were ever over-the-top hosting this good karma event and the Charity Lighthouse team with their 100 active member strong team smashed it out of the park serving up out of the world Snapper and gator plates. great job people! Loose Notes this year’s World Series happened without us and like many of you, i didn’t win the big power ball…. the good news is that the world didn’t end, and we got to enjoy some really good live music on the SCeNe and had a chance to catch up with a lot of your in october. here’s a rundown of what we sampled:
by Andy Eng
KATie’s - over the past several years, i’ve been testing a theory of checking out bands i’ve never heard before a Katie’s and without fail in october, the show was fantastic when i stopped Jordan Matthew Band @ Katie’s Bar in to check out the power trio making up the Jordan matthew Young band. the “dusty throated Jordan Young peels through heavy layers of blazing guitar and a mean, 4 on the floor, rhythm section. bluesy, and soulful rock driven anthems.” there was a full house at Katie’s, and we had to drive around the block a couple times before we found a parking spot which confirms to me that music lovers around the region knows Katie’s is the place for great live music. musically, this coast-to-coast band has a sound that is all their own. originating from Lubbock, and brought to us via austin their website chronicles extended ventures into the gusto lands of Colorado and Utah. to the ears, this raw soulful blues is Acoustex @ uniquely interpreted with southern rock seasonings like know Bayview Duck one else.
my bet stands: Pick a night, any night... Catch the live music at Katie’s and bring a guest — they’ll think you’re a genius!

Van Halen Tribute “Jumps” into Jackie’s Brickhouse this month! By sarah Piña
the bay area has been fortunate to host a wide variety of stellar tribute acts in recent years, and Jackie’s brickhouse in Kemah will be serving up even more rocking shows in November!
Miles Zuniga of Fastball Thursday, Nov. 8
THE BOLDT HOUSE
vht, or van halen tribute, will return to the stage this month with their show that is truly the closest thing audiences can experience next to the original band itself. Formed in 2015, vht quickly gained a large following, bringing those from the era down memory lane with hits such as “Jump,” “hot for teacher,” and “runnin’ with the Devil.”
“We really try to give the full van halen experience,” said guitarist george mangos, who is also wellknown as the ritchie Sambora of the local bon Jovi tribute (Let it rock). “and it’s just evolved to where we’ve been able to bring the show to the house of blues in houston, and in Dallas, as well as the aztec theater in San antonio. and we are really excited to bring the experience to Jackie’s this month!” he said.
Mickey Avalon/Dirt Nasty Friday, Nov. 9 SCOUT BAR
the current lineup of the vht experience along with mangos includes blackie edge (vocals); anthony eaton (drums); brad Caudle (bass). both eaton and Caudle, who also take part in a rush tribute, will perform in the opening Led zeppelin tribute for the Jackie’s show before vht hits the stage with antics reminiscent of a live van halen show.
“blackie really brings out the best of what David Lee roth used to be. he’s a great showman and really takes it to the limit, but he’s also one of the most down-to-earth guys in the music business,” mangos said. “We put our hearts into it. one of our last shows, anthony was even on the lighting rig hanging over the audience!” he laughed. to add to the authenticity of the performance, mangos — who has built guitars for over 30 years — plays a guitar during shows that is an exact rendering of that used in van halen.
“i always say i get the idea for the guitar and the band comes after that. it’s the exact same guitar, it’s authentic, and stage-worthy,” said mangos, who also performs on a ritchie Sambora guitar he built in his bon Jovi tribute. “We are always working on harmonies and listening to live recordings. We take this really seriously,” he said, adding that for even more showmanship, “my wife has also made me a couple of outfits, like those from the ‘hot for teacher’ video, for example.” - Continued on Page 46
