Nathan Clark and Crimson Honor claimed the judge’s top spot in the Amateur Three Year Old Stallions class.

Ryan Gannon directed Chrome Curb Appeal to the top award in the Riders’ Cup Park Pleasure class.

The Riders’ Cup Two Year Old Stallions champions were Sam I Am Jose and Tanner Burks.

Jerome, Will and Rhonda Cole and Thomas Homton. Most family units have at least one common denominator that will keep them actively together. Some of these shared interests could be a religious organiza tion, a college sport, a hunting activity or possibly something related to the arts. For the Holton/Cole family, one of the common denominators is the Tennessee Walking Horse. As of today, three generations of this family are very active participants in the Walking Horse industry. Generation A is Thomas Holton. Holton is a Walking Horse breeder and owner. Generation B is Holton’s daughter, Rhonda and her husband Jerome Cole. Both Rhonda and Jerome are very familiar faces in the show ring. However, when Generation C came along, the priorities somewhat changed. Generation C is Will Cole. Will is now the face of the family that can be seen in the show ring more often than any other family member.

with The Holton/Cole Family When Rhonda was a child, her father, Thomas, came home and announced he had a bought a show horse, and placed it with trainer, Mark Taylor. In future months, more purchases were made, and those horses were placed with Ramsey Bullington. Rhonda proudly recognize s Ramsey and Charlotte Bullington as the ones who taught her to ride. L ittle did Rhonda know, at that time, there was a young boy in Georgia that she would meet one day, and he loved horses as much as she. His name was Jerome Cole. Jerome’s Uncle Frederick showed horses and gets the credit for teaching him how to ride. The stars were aligned perfectly in 1 9 9 4 when Jerome and Rhonda met. In fact, it was the L ynchburg orse how that they recall as their rst o cial date he couple was married in April of 1 9 9 7 and Will was born three years later on their anniversary. The family’s love of horses was quickly passed down to Will, Generation C. Will started riding pleasure horses under the leadership of aye ynn Coffey Will s rst padded horse was o o an, and it was this horse that carried him to his rst blue ribbon. At the very young age of three, Will and Jo Jo showed at an Academy Horse Show in Bowling Green, K entucky and won the blue. The Holton/Cole family continued, through the years, owning and showing more great horses; some even winning World and Reserve World Championship titles. These champions include Jubilee’s Magic Man, Delight’s Big Bad John, Solitude’s Destiny, O utrageous Attitude, Big Score’s Jubilee, Pusher’s Good Fortune, Ricky Ricardo, Magic Man’s Mark, Jose’s Much L ucho, Seve’s 1 1 2 and Pusher’s Secret Rose.

Dickie Scrivner and Frankie Roark train their current lineup of horses. These 2 0 2 1 contenders include Rat Tailed Jimmy ( Four Y ear O ld Amateur Mare & Gelding) , Henery Hawk ( Three Y ear O ld Amateur Mare & Gelding) , Prominence ( Four Y ear O ld Amateur Stallion) and I Am Uno ( Amateur Canter) . Through the years, Will has become quite the horseman and trainer and he will continue showing Ricky Ricardo in the Amateur O wned & Trained division. As close as this family is, they share a few differences; especially when calling out their favorite World Grand Champions. Thomas loves Honors, while Jerome’s favorites are The Black N ight Shade and He’s Puttin’ O n The Ritz. Rhonda loves O lympic Generator and Will loves The Dixie L ineman.

with The Holton/Cole Family Another common denominator that keeps this family actively side by side is their careers. Thomas Holton owns Holton Concrete Products. Jerome and Rhonda both work for the family business. But don’t think Generation C is being left out. Will Cole graduates this May from Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in Construction Management, and yes…. he will continue the family legacy at Holton Concrete Products. The Holton/Cole family is very thankful for their time in the Walking Horse industry. It is because of these equine events that they have met some wonderful people, enjoying life together. The joyful memories are abundant for Thomas, Rhonda, Jerome and Will. In Rhonda’s words, “Family is everything! We work together, play together, worship together and live next to each other. That’s our normal.” The Scoop always considers it a pleasure meeting this family at a show. Their joyful smiles and positive attitudes are traits that make them our friends. And who knows, maybe one day we will get to meet a Generation D.
