This daddy/daughter team is one the Walking Horse world will never forget. The team of Ally Jo Jacobs led by her father Jake aboard the prized lead line pony, My Li le Red Wagon, will always be in our minds. This year Ally Jo has stepped up, showing alone, and she is a fierce competitor with her new Equitaiton mount, Isnt He Grande. Ally Jo and her newest horse, Cole Haan, are contending for the Youth 11 & Under World Championship honors. Jake has had a winning season with his top Three Year Old Stallion, Mr. True Blue, his Three Year Old Amateur Mare/Gelding contender, Grayton Beach and I’m Uno in the Amateur Canter ranks. The Scoop wishes the Jacobs continued success on their journey towards World Championship honors!
Chris Helton enjoyed celebrating his victory with the roses at Waynesville. Chris is a great young trainer that trains both performance and pleasure horses. He is the head trainer at Snapwood Farms in Sevierville, TN which is owned by Jimbo Conner. Chris is showing Kobe this year and that duo is definitely a crowd favorite. The Scoop wishes Chris the best of luck. We enjoy advertising for him and his customers and we wish them all the best of luck.

Woody Woodruff is no stranger to the horse industry. He has been an exhibitor for years and his father is a well-known farrier. He has also done quite a few horse auctions over the years. He and his wife Emily Woodruff are passing their love of horses on to their children Sterling and Vivian. Sterling is showing in the performance and pleasure classes in both the 11 & Under and Youth Pony divisions. His most recent win was at the Putnam County Fair. Their daughter Vivian shows with her mother in the lead line division. The Scoop wishes The Woodruff Family a winning year!

CANDID OF THE WEEK
All About That Jose was bred and raised by Diana Bowers and was originally named Jose’s Hayburner. Edgar Abernathy became interested in him when he was a young four year old stallion. He shared the horse’s history with Harold and Sherry Roberts and their daughter Kyndra and the family soon became the new owners, changing his name to All About That Jose. In 2016, Harold and “Bruno”, as he was known around the barn, captured the Novice Men’s World Championship and the reserve World Grand Championship. More blue ribbons would follow for The Roberts Family while under the direction of Edgar Abernathy and Blaise Broccard. At the recent Waynesville Charity, Gary, Melissa and Greg Kiser take a moment to celebrate with Brandon Ailshie after Brandon and Pusher’s Bay Hawk won the Racking Specialty Action Stake class, unanimously.
The Scoop sends our condolences to The Harold Roberts Family on the loss of their great stallion. All About That Jose was a beautiful representative and talented ambassador for the entire Tennessee Walking Horse industry. hoto a o e y Shane Shiflet

On July 17, 2021, Pistol was found with complications of colitis and passed away that evening. According to eff, Pistol was a magnificent horse who took the air out of the arena when he entered. He was also very fun to ride on the trail and will be missed.” I m acked p Too was known for his long owing mane and tail and glowing personality and will always be remembered as a talented show horse. The Scoop sends our warmest condolences to Hilltop Acres, Tibbs Horse Farm and all of I’m Jacked Up Too’s fans.

Two-time Lead Line World Grand Champion, My Little Red Wagon, was humanely euthanized on July 21, 2021 after suffering complications from a broken leg. This pony was owned and loved by The Jake Jacobs Family of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He was sired by Bet On Shaker and out of E’s Red Poppy. My Little Red Wagon was foaled on March 8, 2008, to Charles Gleghorn of Fayetteville, Tennessee. Wagon made his show ring debut with Boston Kate Tillman at the 2017 Manchester Lions Club Horse Show. It was this show where he made his first victory pass. The duo went on to capture the 201 ead ine World Grand Championship at the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration. In 2018, My Little Red Wagon was paired with a new rider. Alexis Cofer and Wagon teamed up and captured wins at the Woodbury Lions Club and Belfast horse shows, followed with a reserve win in the Lead Line World Grand Championship. This new duo took home wins at the Money Tree Classic, Woodbury Lions Club, Liz’s Kids Show, Marshall County Horseman’s Association, Fayetteville Blue Ribbon, National Trainers’ Show and Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration, becoming the 2020 Lead Line World Grand Champions. In 2021, My Little Red Wagon and Wylder Way were paired together and made their first outing at the outhern Championships. ther wins followed at the Alabama Ladies Auxiliary Show, the Columbia Spring Jubilee, the Woodbury ions Club and their final appearance at the Cornersville ions Club Horse Show. This duo had an undefeated season and had won the hearts of the crowd in a short period of time. Wagon, Wylder and handler Jayden Jackson were never far away from their greatest supporter and fan, Ally Jo Jacobs, and the greatest Lead Line coordinator and coach, Kim Bailey and her son, Kyle Bailey. My Little Red Wagon will always be remembered as one of the greatest lead line ponies of all time. BEYOND THE RING with Sava ah Upchurch
Throughout time, individuals become automatically associated with a horse just because of their natural connection. For instance, Roy Rogers makes one think of Trigger, the Lone Ranger would be lost without Silver, and the famous Secretariat would not have existed if it wasn’t for Penny Chenery. The Tennessee Walking Horse industry creates that same mindset. When one mentions World Champion Custom Chrome, you think of Savannah Upchurch.
Page 64 /

S
avannah is 24 years old and she is living her best life possible. The Monticello, Kentucky resident is a graduate from Western Kentucky University where she majored in Mathematics Economics and was a member of Phi Mu Fraternity. Savannah currently works as a case worker for United States Congressman Harold Rogers. Her work is very important to her, but she is quick to mention she has other passions in life. She loves to spend time on the lake, trail ride, read, decorate and do home projects. Her most recent project was remodeling her home; but this was not just any home. It was her grandfather’s house that is over 100 years old. She is also in the beginning stages of opening her own online clothing boutique, Leigh & Co. One might think this is all her plate will hold, but let’s talk about her love of horses. Savannah is serious about everything in which she participates. Her work ethic keeps her motivated to always do better and set new goals. Riding and showing horses are natural elements in Savannah’s life. Horses have always been a very large part of who she is. Her parents, Roger and Jill Upchurch, met at a horse barn. Savannah revealed that she was two hours shy of being born at the Greensburg Horse Show. Her love of horses was instant and at the age of two she received her first pony. Savannah and “Pepper” did lead line classes until she was around the age of seven.

BEYOND THE RING with Sava ah Upchurch
Savannah got serious about competing and started showing in the Trail Pleasure division of the Racking Horse industry. It wasn’t long before performance horses were added to her resume. Her first was Star and then came Jose’s Beauty. Savannah’s family raised Jose’s Beauty, so this made it even more special when twelve year old Savannah and Jose’s Beauty won a World Championship at the Racking Celebration. The following year would get better as the duo would claim the Youth World Grand Championship title at the Racking Celebration.

The Scoop
Savannah is very appreciative to her parents for teaching her how to ride and for being great in uences in the show ring, as well as life. She also credits her current trainer, Chris Zahnd, for helping her be the rider and exhibitor she is today. In fact, it was Chris Zahnd that helped the Upchurch Family transition from Racking Horses to Tennessee Walking Horses. Even though the family didn’t show Walking Horses, they still attended The Celebration. Savannah is proud to say she attended her first ennessee alking Horse ational elebration at the age of two months old and she hasn’t missed a year since.

In 2018, Savannah made her debut show ring appearance at The Celebration with Custom Chrome. The duo made an outstanding performance that earned them a reserve award in the Novice Park Pleasure division. The hard work continued and in 2019, the duo went on to win the Novice Park Pleasure World Championship. Since then, this team has become quite the competitors, winning numerous titles. It is also important to note that they remain undefeated this show year. To be such a young woman, Savannah has achieved many goals. She continues working hard, striving to make dreams become reality. One more goal is to make a spotlight ride and receive World Grand Championship honors. Savannah also shows Josie Josie. They will be contenders in the Amateur Four Year Old division. The Upchurch Family also recently purchased Custom Chrome’s mother from Mr. Jack Heffington, so they are very hopeful for their future offspring by Dixie Lineman and Walk Time Charlie. There are many reasons why Savannah loves the Tennessee Walking Horse industry. She cherishes the time spent with family and friends at horse shows. Her favorite horse show is without a doubt The Celebration. It’s the place where so many gather supporting and encouraging one another. She considers each show a great experience with many lessons to be learned. The young achiever looks at the entire industry as a one-of-a-kind community filled with rich history, great people and talented animals. The Scoop is delighted to spotlight our friend, Savannah Upchurch, because she is one of those great people that exist in this industry. She works hard, achieving goals and setting new ones. She promotes the great breed and leads by example. Savannah is the future of the Tennessee Walking Horse industry; so it would be safe to say, the industry is in good hands.
