Beyond the Ring with Chelsey Harvey

CHELSEY HARVEY…. If you don’t already know the name, you will very soon. The young horse master is the 19-year-old daughter of Franklin and Susan Harvey from Tazewell, Tennessee. Chelsey has been fascinated with horses practically her entire life, but it wasn’t until 2014 that she fell in love with the Tennessee Walking Horse. Her parents signed her up for horse camp that summer and it was fate that she would take lessons on a Tennessee Walker named Midnight. From that moment on, she was hooked. During that camp, Jennifer Stivers was the instructor, so Chelsey credits Jennifer for teaching her how to ride. In the fall of that same year, the East Tennessee residents discovered Keith Ailshie Stables. Keith was a great connection for Chelsey and a large source of her horse knowledge to this date.

Chelsey may only be 19; however, she had a vision early, and is making her dreams come true. Next up for Chelsey is beginning her training career. She has the knowledge, the drive, the work ethic and most importantly the desire to help horses and riders be the best they can be. She is grateful for those who did the same for her, so in this phase of her life she will be “paying it forward”. She is especially grateful for her biggest influences, her parents, who both encouraged and supported her love of horses. Now, Chelsey is ready to support and help other people’s dreams come true by opening her own training facility. Chelsey’s show career speaks for itself. Since 2014 she has won 227 blue

ribbons between the Walking and Racking Horse industries. Those wins include one world championship and two reserve world championships at the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration and a whopping ten world grand championships, nineteen world championships and five reserve world grand championships at the Racking Horse industry’s world championship show. The honors keep coming. At the recent East Tennessee Walking Horse Association’s High Point banquet, she received numerous awards for the 2021 show year. They included high point championships in Youth Trail Pleasure (She’s Jazz Station 109), Plantation Pleasure Youth (She’s In Strong Demand), Country Pleasure (I’m Soulja Boy), Country Pleasure Youth (I’m Soulja Boy), Racking Trail Pleasure (Dangerous Duchess), Racking Two Year Old (A Gin Martini) and Reserve Racking Youth (He’s Buck Wild). Dangerous Duchess also received Racking Horse of the Year while Chelsey received Racking Rider of the Year and 12-17 Rider of the Year.
