Beyond the Ring with C bin Parker
A “Master Horseman” in the Making Corbin Layne Parker is only 15 years old, but he is wise beyond his years. He sets goals and works hard to achieve them. He has a vision for his future and has already begun placing things in order for that vision to become reality. He knows success derives from hard work, he knows his greatest support system is family and he knows his happiness comes from his horses. Corbin is a resident of Frankewing, Tennessee, and is a sophomore at Lincoln County High School in Fayetteville, Tennessee. At school, Corbin is a member of FFA and recently served on its horse judging team. That is no surprise to everyone that knows him because the teenager “eats, sleeps and breathes” horses.

In all practicality, Corbin inherited his love of horses. His grandfather, Jeff Parker, owned several Walking Horse broodmares. As a youngster, Corbin fondly remembers weanlings running all over the farm. He is proud to note that one of the famil s fillies went on to win a World Grand Championship in the ac in Horse industr . That fill s name was If nl . He also remembers havin the first buc s in stud colt born from Ted Williams. In 2014, Corbin decided it was time to ride so he started taking lessons with riding instructor Alice Klein. Corbin loved riding and was soon hoo ed after competin in his first show. That first show was held at Clearview Farm and was hosted by PWHAT. It became a great memor for man reasons the main reason bein his first show was his first blue ribbon. Corbin rode ou re In Command to the blue. ou re In Command belonged to Alice Klein and was very special to Corbin. Sadly, this beloved horse passed away in 2020.

As everyone involved in the Walking Horse industry does, Corbin has a few favorites. His favorite World Grand Champion is Master’s Razzle & Jazz “Lurch” and the horse show he looks forward to the most is the TWHYA Summer Splash. He is a member of the TWHYA so he helps put the show on and has also had the honor of presentin the merican a at those shows with his faithful equine sidekick Earl. The Celebration ranks at the top of his list of favorite shows also, because it’s the grandest of all shows. 2022 looks like it will be a fun and busy year for Corbin and his show string of contenders. “Junior” who is under the training banner of Kevin Gower Stables. Corbin’s passion for horses is very evident. He has the work ethic to accomplish great things, the desire to gain as much knowledge as possible and the support system of family and friends to help his dreams come true. These components, along with his outgoing personality, will certainly put him on the path to more blue ribbons, many victory laps and of course, the title of “Master Horseman”!

FRIENDS, FOOD & FUN AT
SEVIERVILLE, TN On February 25th & 26th, Snappwood Farm hosted their annual barn party welcoming their customers and the public. The event was held at the farm’s Smoky Mountain Arena. The weekend was full of great food and outstanding horses. The East Tennessee Walking Horse Ladies Auxiliary was also visible participants as they sold baked goods and barbecue plate meals. Throughout the weekend, various trainers presented some outstanding young contenders, and the market for ownership was hot. Fifteen horses sold totaling a little over $700,000. If this is any indication of the new show year, it seems the industry will have an exciting one!
